MS Office Apps Now Available on Android

The Microsoft Office for Android apps are now available to the public after a preview period that began in November of last year.

Included in the list of Office for Android apps are Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.

Android users with devices between 7" and 10.1" can download them for free on Google Play. Access to creation and editing features on devices larger than 10.1" requires an Office 365 subscription.

Large Smash Bros. Tournament Resumes After Safety Concerns

Apex 2015, a fighting game tournament with a large Super Smash Bros. portion, had to change venue due to safety concerns Friday.

The event had been put on hold by fire marshals due to structural damage caused by a recent storm.

A fire alarm was pulled this morning, and the venue had to be evacuated. When the fire marshals arrived, they shut down the entire place. "One of the ballrooms had a part of it collapse during the storm, fire marshals are here possibly not deeming it safe," wrote Alex Jebailey, creator of CEO Gaming, on Twitter.

Borderlands 2 Writer Leaves Gearbox to Write Hulu Comedy Show

The lead writer of Borderlands 2, Anthony Burch, is leaving Gearbox to work on a new comedy show for Hulu.

Burch announced the news today on Twitter, later adding that he'll continue to "do videogames stuff on the side."

"Uh so I'm moving to LA to be head writer on this show... I'll miss Gearbox a LOT but uh yeah this could be really fun.

Tokyo Is the Safest City in the World

Tokyo, Japan is the safest city in the world.

According to a recent report by the Economist, the capital of Japan ranks the highest in terms of digital security, and scores high in terms of health, infrastructure, and personal safety - this despite it being the most populated city in the world.

The report looked at cities considered to be major urban centers, and ranked 50 cities around the world based on the categories mentioned above. South-East Asia's Singapore ranked second, with Osaka, Japan and Stockholm, Sweden taking the third and fourth spots respectively.

PlayStation To Re-brand Video Service

Following Sony's announcement of their new partnership with Spotify to provide PS Music, the Video Unlimited service is now set to be re-branded and similarly integrated to the ecosystem with a new name - PS Video.

This is in an effort to unite PlayStation media services under the network umbrella, sitting alongside PS Now, Store and Plus. Previously both Music and Video Unlimited services were offered as standalone applications outside of the PS Network.

For the most part, the video service will largely remain the same and continue to offer shows and movies to rent or buy in the same territories as before. The re-branding will start from February with PS Music to follow in the Spring of 2015.

Bloodborne PS4 Bundle Announced for Europe

Sony has announced a Bloodborne PS4 bundle containing a copy of the game, a black PS4 console, and a black Dualshock 4 controller. The bundle will release with the game on 25th March. So far, no price has been given for the bundle.

On the PS Blog, Sony also provided some more explanation of the Chalice Dungeons feature in Bloodborne.

The Chalice Dungeons are subterranean areas that are accessed by performing rituals with objects found during the game. Each one will be different and they will provide some extra replay value to an already lengthy campaign.

#IDARB Releases Early; Free for Gold Subscribers

#IDARB is now available on Xbox One, ahead of its expected February release date.

The 2D eSport was previously announced as one of February's Games with Gold, however it's already free to download for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Non-Gold subscribers can pick it up for $15 USD.

#IDARB combines elements from hockey and basketball to create a chaotic online or local multiplayer game. Spectators can impact the game through Twitch or Twitter by spawning items or adding obstacles during live matches.

Zachary Quinto Not Returning for Heroes Reborn

While it had been growing increasingly unlikely that Heroes star Zachary Quinto would return for NBC's Heroes Reborn, with Quinto himself even telling IGN here and here that he was hesitant to return to the series because of his desire to defy audiences' expectations with his work, the actor himself has now confirmed that he won't be reprising his role as Sylar.
