How Timing Helped Dying Light Become a Huge Hit
Regardless of when a game comes out, one thing remains constant, as if it were an immutable law of the universe: if a game is good, it’s good. There is a little more to it than that, though - timing matters, too. Timing may not affect a game’s quality per se, but good timing could make a game stand out when it otherwise wouldn't have.
Case-in-point: Timing certainly benefitted Techland’s Dying Light, a surprisingly cohesive, enjoyable, deep, and even terrifying open-world zombie-killing adventure that snuck up on me like the shambling undead occupying the made-up locale of Harran. I’m over 10 hours into it and loving it. Thing is, if it didn’t come out when it did, I wouldn’t have played it at all. And I suspect thousands of other people immersed in Harran’s open-world feel the same exact way.
Resident Evil is PS Store’s January Best Seller
Sony has revealed that Resident Evil is January's best selling digital game on the Playstation Store in their latest post on the Playstation Blog.
The download only remake topped both the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 charts last month, becoming Capcom's fastest selling western digital title ever.
Lurking just behind Resident Evil on the PS4 chart was fellow zombie slaying game Dying Light, with Minecraft taking second place on the PS3 chart.
SpaceX Launch Delayed Again
The SpaceX rocket launch of the deep space climate observatory, or "DSCOVR," has once again been delayed.
Originally scheduled to blast off yesterday, the launch was called off due to issues with a first stage transmitter and a range finder. The launch scheduled for today was postponed until tomorrow at 6:05 pm EST due to unfavorable weather conditions.
The Top 8 Games Based on Anime
Like all the cool special edition PS4s, Japan keeps the best anime video games for itself. Unless it’s from a super popular series like Dragon Ball Z or Naruto, then there’s sadly little chance of games based on anime making it to North America. If a game does receive an official translation, it’s usually several months to years after the initial Japanese release, such as with J-Stars Victory VS+.
Even so, a few gems have made it to North America over the years. Whether you're a huge anime fan or just a gamer looking for some stylish action, you can't go wrong with these 8 awesome anime adaptations:
Star Wars #1 Sells Huge for Marvel
Diamond Comics released their sales figures for January 2015. Unsurprisingly, Star Wars #1 was the best-selling comic of the month. Between the major marketing push, the 60+ variant covers, and Loot Crate pack-ins, Marvel estimates that over a million copies of the issue were sold in January. Considering how rare it is for a comic to even break the 200,000 threshold, that's a pretty impressive number.
I've Got Issues: Marvel's Star Wars Comic Bodes Well for Disney
Batman #38 clocked in at #2 for the month, followed by Amazing Spider-Man #12 and #13. Other new Marvel releases Ant-Man #1, Uncanny Avengers #1, and Wolverines #1 sold well, while The Walking Dead managed to crack the top ten once again.
Streaming TV Service Sling TV Now Live
Television over internet service Sling TV is now available nationwide. The $20 per month subscription service offers live television to subscribers via internet streaming, as opposed to traditional methods like cable or satellite.
The service currently offers channels such as ESPN, ESPN 2, HGTV, Food Network, TNT, TBS, Adult Swim and more, with AMC on the way. Add on packages are available for $5 per month, including a "Kids Extra" package with Disney Channel variations, along with news and sports packages.
The DISH Network service was announced in January, and Sling TV will be coming to Xbox One, Roku, iOS, Mac, Android, and PC.
PSN Maintenance Announced for Thursday
The PlayStation Network will be offline for three and a half hours for scheduled maintenance beginning 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm GMT on February 12, Sony announced today.
During this time, you'll be unable to access the PlayStation Store, PSN account management, PSN account registration, entertainment apps, and online gameplay. However, if you sign into your account before the maintenance begins, you'll be able to play games online and use apps such as Netflix.
Throughout the downtime, you'll still be able to collect trophies, but they won't appear on your profile until the network is back up.

Watch Game of Thrones’ Full ‘Day in the Life’ Special
With so much on TV last night (Grammys, Walking Dead's return, Better Call Saul's premiere), it's understandable if you perhaps missed HBO's behind-the-scenes Game of Thrones documentary.
So if you did, or if you just want to check it out again, you can watch it in its entirety here...
Aside from the new trailer, Game of Thrones Season 5: A Day in the Life is the only place you're going to get a few sneaks of the upcoming season - including the "Water Gardens" in Dorne, Cersei making her way through piles of religious poor to speak with Jonathan Pryce's High Sparrow, Daenerys meeting with her council, and the transformation of Spain's Plaza de Toros into a gladiator arena for a massive 12-day action shoot.
Tropico 5 Lets You Become a King on PS4
Imagine for just one moment that you're put in control of an island nation. This oasis in the ocean is thousands of miles from your homeland, and is so different it may as well be on another planet. It's so sunny and warm you forget all of your friends back home as you settle in for the long haul. Life is good. If you found yourself in such a situation, wouldn't you want to be as free as you felt?
In Tropico 5 (which we called "good" on PC), I was expected to serve at my king's request. The sheep that I raised and the corn that I grew were to be shipped back to my birthplace, goods that I could have kept to feed and clothe my citizens. Sure, the monarchy would give me money when my coffers were low, and I went along with our little bargain for a couple years, but we both knew my corporation was a charade. What use did I have for a governorship so many miles away when I was building my own kingdom, a more prosperous place than they could ever have imagined?
PlayStation Plus Open Weekend This Friday
PlayStation Plus will enter an open weekend from Friday, February 13 6.00am GMT/7.00am CET until 6.00am GMT/7.00am CET Monday, February 16.
According to the PS Blog, even if you are not currently a PlayStation Plus member, you will be able to play with your friends online this weekend for free. That said, the usual restrictions apply, so you won't be able access the PS Plus monthly games, Store discounts and Cloud Storage.
A free multiplayer weekend gives you the chance to try Dying Light's "Be The Zombie" mode if you haven't already. According to IGN's review, playing as the monster is "hugely enjoyable, especially after you've unlocked some of its grosser attacks."
