Apple Sheds Competing Fitness Trackers in Lead Up to Watch

With the looming release of Apple Watch, competing fitness products are evaporating from Apple Stores.

According to a report by recode.net, stores in San Francisco, New York, Palo Alto, and Los Angeles are bereft of the competing devices. Fitness trackers like the Jawbone Up and Nike+ FuelBand have been removed to make way for Apple Watch.

Apple Watch, which launches on April 24 at a starting price of $350 USD, was highlighted during Apple's recent live event. One such new Apple feature was HealthKit, an API that allows apps to share data with Apple's new Health app. Apple Watch promises to "measure all the ways you move," according to the company, and selling competing items in its own stores is probably a bit on the cannibalistic side, business-wise.

Cobra Commander Gets Key to Sprigfield, IL

The end is nigh -- Mayor J. Michael Houston of Springfield, Illinois has given Cobra Commander the Key to the City. Yes, the masked G.I. Joe villain who once hosted a telethon for fellow terrorist organizations has invaded the home of Abraham Lincoln.

According to GeneralJoes.com (via ComicsAlliance), the leader of the Cobras was awarded Springfield's highest honor in order to promote the upcoming G.I. JoeCon. The announcement came with the following message from Cobra Commander himself: “Springfielders near and far, I accept your Mayor’s generous gift. And let it be known that I too bring a gift for every man, woman and child of this city that is so near and dear to my heart; an invitation to join with me. Join Cobra!”

Evo 2015 Will See Largest Melee Turnout Yet

The upcoming Evo 2015 is shaping up to be the largest Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament yet.

According to a tweet from Evolution Championship Series co-founder Joey Cuellar, "Evo 2015 will be the biggest Melee tournament of all time, and Smash WiiU is over 1K!"

Apex 2015 from January saw 1,037 registered competitors total for Super Smash Bros. Melee, while Evo 2015 has already surpassed 1,000 entrants in a single month, according to Shoryuken.

New Villains Coming to Justice League of America

This June will see the relaunch of Justice League of America by Bryan Hitch at DC Comics. Hitch has drawn JLA before back in 2000, but now he's in complete control as both writer and artist on the series.

BAFTA Games Awards 2015 Winners Revealed

Tonight's the night - the winners of the BAFTA Games Awards 2015 are set to be revealed at a ceremony taking place in London and kicking off at 12pm PT / 3pm ET/ 7pm GMT.

IGN will be at the event to bring you up to the minute coverage both here and on the @IGNUK twitter feed. Winners will be depicted below by highlighting the name of the game in bold and adding "- WINNER" as a suffix. Nice and subtle.

Going into the awards, Alien: Isolation lead the field with six nominations in Audio Achievement, Best Game, British Game, Game Design, Game Innovation and Music.

It's followed closely by Far Cry 4 and Monument Valley, both of which have five nods. Far Cry 4 is competing for Artistic Achievement, Game Design, Music, Story and Performer, while Monument Valley is after Artistic Achievement, Best Game, British Game, Mobile & Handheld and Original Property.

Bayonetta 2 Director Wants to Make a Spider-Gwen Game

Speaking on Twitter, Bayonetta 2 director Yusuke Hashimoto claimed that he'd like to make a game in the Spider-Verse, specifically one centered around Spider-Gwen.

"If I had to work with an existing IP, I'd want to make a game in the Spider-Verse," he said. "Especially a Spider-Gwen game."

A hero from an alternate universe in which Gwen Stacy was bitten by the infamous radioactive spider, Spider-Gwen made her appearance during Marvel's Spider-Verse comic book event. She's become a hit with fans, particularly for her unique costume design.

Mojang Responds to Possible Minecraft Ban

A spokesperson from Mojang responded to the possibility of Minecraft's ban in Turkey over its alleged focus on "violence."

Speaking to GamesBeat, the Mojang representative explained the many different approaches to Minecraft by its fans, and the ways the game world's dangers can be avoided or turned off entirely:

"Minecraft is enjoyed by many players in a wide variety of ways. Many enjoy the creative freedom that’s presented by Minecraft and its tools, some are more interested by the opportunity to explore a landscape without boundaries and to go on exciting adventures with friends. We encourage players to cooperate in order to succeed, whether they’re building, exploring, or adventuring.

Dying Light Dominates PlayStation Store Sales in February

The official list of top-selling games on PlayStation platforms in the month of February have yielded some interesting results.

Zombies dominated the PlayStation 4, with Dying Light being the top-selling game on the current gen platform in February 2015. Behind it is Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Turtle Rock Studios' four-versus-one shooter Evolve, supernatural shooter The Order: 1886 at number four, and Dontnod's drama Life is Strange -- Episode 1: Chrysalis at number five.

On PlayStation 3, Minecraft took top honors for the month, followed by Resident Evil Revelations 2, Grand Theft Auto V, and the latest in Activision's blockbuster shooter series, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Life is Strange Episode 1 shares fifth place on the PS4 and PS3 charts.
