Destiny 2 Cheat Distributor Agrees To Pay Bungie $13.5 Million
A company that develops cheat codes for Destiny 2 has agreed to pay Bungie $13.5 million in damages in a move that will end a copyright infringement lawsuit.
The company has also agreed to a permanent injunction against the creation of any new cheating software for Destiny 2 or any other Bungie game.
As seen in court documents and a report from TorrentFreak, Bungie accused Canadian cheats company Elite Boss Tech of violating Destiny 2’s user agreement with its software, as well as costing the developer “exorbitant amounts of money” in developing anti-cheat technology. Bungie also noted that Elite Boss Tech’s software disrupted player experiences and damaged Destiny 2’s reputation, which in turn threatened the game’s commercial viability.
While Elite Boss Tech argues that it never copied Destiny 2 code and that some of Bungie’s claims were based on unenforceable statements from its Limited Software License Agreement, the cheats company has agreed to pay $13.5 million in damages and agree to never create Destiny 2 cheats again. The $13.5m was calculated based on the number of times Elite Boss Tech’s cheating software was downloaded; 6,765 times, with a penalty of $2,000 each.
“This permanent injunction is binding against Defendants worldwide, without regard to the territorial scope of the specific intellectual property rights asserted in the Complaint and may be enforced in any court of competent jurisdiction wherever Defendants or their assets may be found,” the settlement said.
“Any violations of this order by Defendants will subject them to the full scope of this Court’s contempt authority, including punitive, coercive, and monetary sanctions.”
Bungie isn’t the only company going after cheat companies. Activision recently filed a lawsuit against a Call of Duty cheat distributor. Riot, along with Bungie, also filed a lawsuit against GatorCheats last year. PUBG Mobile’s developer recently won $10m in damages from a cheat creator, too.

When you think of Nerf, you likely have fond memories of using a variety of colorful and exciting blasters to fire an endless barrage of foam darts at your friends and family. But that's all about to change once the Hasbro-owned company's first-ever mascot, Murph, is seared into your mind.

Murph is an anthropomorphic character made out of hundreds of Nerf darts, who the company says has no set sex or gender and uses they/them pronouns. They lack any facial features – or anything besides a general human-like shape, really – ultimately looking more like something out of a horror film.
Murph is an unusual choice to lead Nerf's new campaign, called "Unleash the Play in You", which aims to get more kids and adults outside having fun in the sun. But despite looking like they just crawled out of the depths of hell, Hasbro's SVP and GM, Adam Kleinman, calls Murph a “playful spirit and gifted athlete."
“We wanted to introduce a mascot that represents this ageless, unbridled fun that lives in all of us and creates a physical embodiment of that feeling you get when you play with Nerf,” Kleinman said.
Murph looks more likely to grind us into meat than try to get us pumped for outdoor activities, but regardless, the new mascot will begin appearing in promotional materials and on Nerf's social media channels this month to spread the word about the company's summer initiative.
Anyways, good luck sleeping tonight. Hopefully he'll fuel fewer nightmares than the dreadful Nerf Legends FPS that released last year.

Call of Duty Is Now Punishing Cheaters By Taking Away Their Weapons
The battle against cheaters is unfortunately one that will seemingly never end, but Activision's Team RICOCHET continues to come up with inventive ways to combat these ne'er-do-wells, including punishing them in-game by stripping them of all their weapons.
Team RICOCHET detailed its latest progress in taking the fight to cheaters in a blog and it revealed more of how it continues to work to make Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone a better experience for all.
It began by discussing how "anti-cheat solutions work like anti-virus software." There is no simple fix to take down cheaters, as they are constantly working on new ways to outsmart those trying to stop them.
Fortunately, the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat has continued to learn and evolve and is getting better at "the speed at which we can recognize when players are doing things they shouldn’t be doing."
When one of these "bad actors" is detected, they are hit with one or all of the tools from the team's "mitigation toolbox." This not only proves to be a nuisance to cheaters, but it also helps the team gather data to stop them in the future.
One of these tools is Damage Shield, which enhances player protection against cheaters. This allows players to realize they are being shot at and it gives them a better chance to enact revenge on the cheater.
Cloaking is another mitigation technique that makes a cheater's victim turn invisible when they are hit, making it impossible for them to see them anymore.
Disarm is the latest tactic being implemented and, when cheaters are detected, RICOCHET Anti-Cheat simply takes away their weapons and prevents them from even punching using their fists.
Mitigations are meant to keep cheaters in the game long enough to gather data that will help Team RICOCHET stop them in the future while "reducing their ability to impact a legitimate player's experience."
Mitigations are great and all, but bans remain the "biggest deterrent to cheating," and Team RICOCHET has banned over 180,000 cheaters since its last update in February 2022.
Those looking forward to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and/or Warzone 2.0 will be happy to know RICOCHET Anti-Cheat will be active on day one for both games.

Lightyear Had a Less than Stellar Box Office Debut and It Failed to Take Down Jurassic World: Dominion
Lightyear had a less than stellar domestic weekend box office debut with $51 million in ticket sales, a number that wasn't even enough to take down Jurassic World: Dominion.
As reported by Variety, Lightyear, which had a production budget of $200 million before marketing, was expected to earn at least $70 million in its first weekend in North America. Instead, its $51 million underwhelmed and placed it in second place behind Jurassic World: Dominion's $58.6 million.
Dominion even had a nearly 60% drop from its opening weekend, where it earned a massive $145 million domestically. Globally, the latest entry in the legendary dino franchise has crossed $622 million.
Internationally, Lightyear added another $34.6 million in 43 markets, bringing its global total to $85.6 million.
Lightyear was a big movie for Pixar as, besides it taking place in the beloved universe of Toy Story, it is also the first Pixar film to be released in theaters since 2020's Onward. Soul, Luca, and Turning Red all skipped theaters in favor of an exclusive release on Disney+.
Unfortunately for Pixar, it had to go against the previously mentioned Jurassic World: Dominion and the unstoppable force known as Top Gun: Maverick. The Tom Cruise-led sequel to 1986's Top Gun placed third and earned another $44 million in North America.
Avatar's $50 million in its fourth box office weekend is the only film ahead of Top Gun: Maverick in the same time frame. Maverick has earned $466 million in North America and it has reached $885 million globally, making it Tom Cruise's biggest film ever.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is set to be released on Disney+ on June 22, took fourth place with $4.2 million and Disney's The Bob's Burgers Movie rounded out the top five with $1.1 million.

Warner Bros. Reportedly Isn’t Likely to Keep Ezra Miller ‘in the Flash Role in Future DC Films’
In light of Ezra Miller's ongoing legal problems, sources within Warner Bros. have indicated that, "even if no more allegations surface, the studio won't likely keep Miller in the Flash role in future DC films."
As reported by Deadline, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and his team are headed towards a potential "first movie crisis" as The Flash's June 23, 2023, approaches. This is due to The Flash star Ezra Miller's compounding legal issues that began in March 2022 when the actor was arrested in Hawaii and was fined for disorderly conduct.
Deadline has heard that Warner Bros. has attempted to get help for Miller, but the "headlines continue to pile up." This is obviously an issue for the studio as The Flash is a big tentpole release for the DCEU that comes with a $200 million budget, will see the return of Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as Batman, and is helmed by IT director Andy Muschietti.
It would be hard to market The Flash with Ezra in front if they continue to face legal troubles, and it may force Zaslav and the team to scale back the promotion and planned publicity tour, send the film straight to HBO Max, or "lean in toward making the movie a hit and then drop Miller if they can't straighten things out."
“There is no winning in this for Warner Bros,” one studio source told Deadline. “This is an inherited problem for Zaslav. The hope is that the scandal will remain at a low level before the movie is released, and hope for the best to turn out.”
Most recently, Miller apparently deleted their Instagram account and reports say a court attempting to serve an order is unable to locate them. Miller's issues have extended past Hawaii and now have reached Massachusetts and North Dakota and include accusations of violence, psychological intimidation, and other forms of misconduct.
This is not the first time Warner Bros. has had to deal with this type of situation, as it replaced Johnny Depp with Mads Mikkelsen after the Fantastic Beasts actor who played Grindlewald was facing abuse allegations. Depp and Heard recently finished a six-week trial where the jury sided with Depp in his defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife.

LEGO Con 2022: The Biggest Announcements and Reveals
On Saturday, June 18, the LEGO Group streamed its second annual LEGO CON, hosted by Vick Hope, Joel McHale, and Melvin Odoom. Special guests included Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter franchise) and Angus MacLane, the director behind the new Pixar film Lightyear.
The event lasted two hours and included interviews with LEGO designers and an international LEGO Masters build project to celebrate the company's 90th anniversary. But the most exciting parts of the show were the multiple set reveals. Two of the sets will revive classic LEGO themes, and the others sets continue LEGO's licensed franchises, including Avatar, Star Wars, Marvel, Super Mario, and more. All sets will launch later this summer.
Here are the biggest announcements and reveals from LEGO CON 2022.
Classic LEGO Castle Returns
The new medieval LEGO Lion Knights' Castle is big and detailed, and it represents a revival; there has not been a Castle or Castle-adjacent theme since 2013. Set #10305 features a working drawbridge and a water wheel that turns a millstone. Builders can open the castle and explore an interior that includes a dungeon, an armory, and a kitchen. There's even a miniature model of the "Classic" yellow castle from 1978! It is composed of 4514 pieces and retails for $399.99. It will launch on August 3.
Classic LEGO Space Returns
Another throwback, this is a large-scale reimagining of the classic Galaxy Explorer from 1979, and it comes with retractable legs, living quarters, and four astronaut minifigures. The new LEGO Galaxy Explorer is composed of 1254 pieces and retails for $99.99. It will debut on August 1.
LEGO Minecraft Locations Unveiled
There are two new Minecraft sets launching later this summer. The first is the Skeleton Dungeon (Set #21189), which includes a spawner and rocks that can be rigged up to fall on the skeletons chasing you. It is composed of 364 pieces and retails for $44.99. It will debut on August 1.
The second set is the Abandoned Village (Set #21190), where you battle zombie villagers amidst the dilapidated ruins. It is composed of 422 pieces and retails for $34.99. It will also debut on August 1.
LEGO Designs Home Decor
For the last few years, LEGO has been experimenting with using Dots–smooth, round, 1x1 studs –to create realistic mosaics of famous photos and paintings. The upcoming LEGO Floral Art (Set #31207) mosaic set is more free form than what came prior, and allows you to create your own customizable floral art, with vibrant greens, blues, oranges, and pinks. Then, you can hang it up in your home to match the color scheme. The set is composed of 2,780 pieces and retails for $79.99. It will release on August 1.
New LEGO Super Mario Characters Announced
There are 8 new, collectible LEGO Super Mario characters. They are all interactive with the Super Mario starter sets and come with unique sounds and abilities. They are: Nabbit, Purple Toad, Hammer Bro, Waddlewing, Toady, Baby Yoshi, Red Yoshi, and Blue Shy Guy. The LEGO Super Mario Character Pack Series 5 (Set #71410) will retail for $5.99 each. They will launch on August 1.
New LEGO Star Wars Sets Depict The Clone Wars And Its Aftermath
The new LEGO Star Wars sets are always next level with regards to scope, size, and detail, and this summer's newly announced arrivals are no different. First is the LEGO Star Wars The Justifier (Set #75323), which is Bounty hunter Cad Bane's ship, as seen in The Bad Batch. It features minifigures of Cad Bane, Fennec Shand, Hunter, Omega, and Todo 360. It has a fully detailed cockpit and retractable landing gear. It is composed of 1022 pieces and retails for $169.99. It will launch on August 1
And the other announced set was the LEGO Star Wars AT-TE Walker (Set #75337), a heavy artillery unit from the Clone Wars era. It comes with Separatist droids and members of the 212th Attack Battalion, which ran under the command of Cody and General Kenobi. The vehicle features articulable legs and a massive rotating laser cannon on top. It is composed of 1082 pieces and retails for $139.99. It will also launch on August 1.
LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation Coming To Disney Plus
Disney debuted a teaser trailer for the upcoming special LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation. It centers around Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, and Chewbacca, who are taking a well-earned vacation after defeating Palpatine in Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. The official trailer will launch on June 21. The complete special will debut on Disney Plus on August 1.
LEGO Avatar Sets Revealed
Much like the long-anticipated movie sequels, the LEGO Avatar sets have been in development for years. At LEGO CON 2022, we got a peek at one of them: a recreation of a Toruk and The Tree of Souls (Set #75574). It comes with a number of Na'vi minifigures, which have tails and disproportionately long arms and legs. The set is composed of 1212 pieces, and it will retail for $149.99. It will launch on October 1.
Massive LEGO Marvel Set Revealed – Dr. Strange Sanctum Sanctorum
And lastly, this massive recreation of Dr. Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum (Set #76218) sets a high bar for MCU-themed sets. The entire building is modular, and the individual floors are separable from each other. The top floor is a museum of mystical artifacts, the middle floor is a library, and the bottom floor depicts the grand staircase from the films. It is composed of 2708 pieces and will retail for $249.99. It will launch on August 1.
