New Animal Crossing Glitch Is so Fun, Fans Want It to Stay

If you've ever tried to make a relaxing little summer outdoor area in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you've likely experienced the pain of setting up an outdoor pool but not actually being able to sit in it. Despite looking cool and refreshing, pools thus far have only been for looking, not for sitting or swimming. Until now. A glitch in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that has been gaining popularity lately allows players to clip into things they normally shouldn't be able to clip into. Most notably, this includes pools and rivers. Now, many players are using it to do fun activities like host pool parties or go for a swim in the game's rivers. Normally, it's possible to go swimming in the game without glitching anything by purchasing a wetsuit, but this only works in the oceans, and not in rivers or pools. But the glitch isn't just limited to water-based objects. Players are also using it to sit in places they normally couldn't, such as gaps in large items like the big stuffed bears and the teacup ride: It also works with rocket ships and rocking horses, and the cotton candy machine. It's popular enough that one Reddit thread with over 1,700 upvotes has users begging Nintendo to let the glitch stick around so players can keep having fun. Part of this glitch's popularity is connected to how simple it is to do. It only requires an unfinished puzzle item to clip into whatever you want to glitch. Of course, if you want to go for a dip in the pool, do so at your own risk as things can get a little weird: But do know that if you ever get stuck you can call up the rescue service to get yourself unstuck, or just restart the game to be put back at your house. Another component of the glitch's popularity may be that there's been very little "new" in New Horizons lately. Though a May Day event just wrapped up, it was relatively similar to last year's, and there doesn't seem to be much coming beyond some more repeat events. Everyone's hoping we'll eventually see big updates like the addition of Brewster from New Leaf, but Nintendo has yet to confirm the much-rumored and requested coffee shop for New Horizons. NEO: The World Ends With You Hints at the Return of Another Old Friend

We've already seen trailers for NEO: The World Ends With You confirming that certain characters from the original game are returning, with both numbers-obsessed Minamimoto and former reaper Kariya stepping back into the Reaper's Game for the sequel. But a new press release for the upcoming game seems to indicate that another character may be making a cameo, or at least is playing a role in the background of Shibuya in NEO. Spoiler Warning: The following contains spoilers for the end of the original The World Ends With You. Read on past the video at your own risk (don't worry, the video itself is safe). [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/05/14/neo-the-world-ends-with-you-opening-movie-trailer"] At the end of The World Ends With You, one of your companions, Shiki manages to escape the Reaper's Game along with Neku and the rest of his friends. Though we never learn her fate after the crew meets up, much of her arc in the game was focused around her friendship with her friend Eri, a talented designer. Shiki is an adept seamstress and is able to make the clothes Eri designs, and even made "Mr. Mew," a stuffed cat she carries around in Shibuya and who aids her in battle. We've seen Mr. Mew reappear already in the hands of Tsugumi, a young woman who's been teased multiple times for NEO: The World Ends With You, though it's never been explained why she has Mr. Mew. However, a slide presentation about NEO: The World Ends With You sent out to media today reveals that Tsugumi's Mr. Mew may hold answers to Shiki's ultimate fate. "The stuffed animal she carries resembles the mascot of Gatto Nero, a new brand that's all the rage in Shibuya -- but her plush pal apparently predates the establishment of said brand." There are two clues in this excerpt about Shiki: the first is in Gatto Nero, the brand Mr. Mew is a mascot for. This implies that Shiki and Eri possibly went into business together and started their own brand, Gatto Nero, and may make an appearance tied into that brand's existence in Shibuya. The second is a bit more cryptic -- if Tsugumi's Mr. Mew predates Gatto Nero, then is it the original Mr. Mew? If so, it begs the question of how Tsugumi got him, as Shiki seems unlikely to have given him up easily. Either way, it lends more credence to the theory that she may reappear in NEO. Spoilers End Here [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=neo-the-world-ends-with-you-food-and-fashion-screenshots&captions=true"] The slideshow includes a number of other new details about NEO: The World Ends With You, such as a new type of mission in the Reaper's Game: Scramble Slams. In Scramble Slams, you'll have to earn points to win by either erasing Noise in an area, or by fighting rival team members to claim an area for yourself. Chaining Noise battles together can earn you even more points. We also get a closer look at fashion and food, which mostly seem to work the same as in The World Ends With You, though with a number of new brands and styles like Gatto Nero. And finally, the slideshow highlights the abilities of one of your party members: Fret. Fret has a psych called "Remind," which instigates a small puzzle game to help jog the memory of whoever it is used on. Though not highlighted in the presentation, the new trailer above shows that Nagi, your third party member, also has a psych called Dive. NEO: The World Ends With You is out on July 27 for Nintendo Switch and PS4, with an Epic Games Store release coming sometime this summer. Last month, we spoke with the game's dev team about how with a fourteen year gap between NEO and its predecessor, NEO will reflect those years of changes to Shibuya, culture, and gaming hardware. Zack Snyder’s Justice League Green Lantern Has Finally Been Revealed

An image of the Green Lantern originally planned to be part of Zack Snyder's Justice League has surfaced on Twitter, showing actor Wayne T. Carr in full costume. As part of a recent Q&A held by Cinemark Playa Vista, Zack Snyder showed a picture of Wayne T. Carr dressed as the famous Green Lantern, John Stewart, on his phone. Twitter user Ishaan Sangha has shared a screenshot of Snyder showing off the photograph. The image-within-an-image nature means the quality is not great, but you can see Carr in the iconic green-and-black costume, holding up his Green Lantern power ring. We're likely not going to get to see an official version of this image, as John Stewart was cut from Zack Snyder's Justice League on Warner Bros. request. As reported by Screen Rant, the studio has intentions for future Green Lantern projects, and so requested that Stewart was removed from Justice League as to save that side of the DC universe for other movies. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/03/18/justice-league-zack-snyder-on-the-snyder-cuts-martian-manhunter"] Stewart's small role at the end of Justice League was replaced by Martian Manhunter, played by Harry Lennix. However, as Snyder showed at the Q&A, that change came after his Justice League reshoots had already filmed the scene with Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart. Zack Snyder recently expressed his frustration with Warner Bros., saying that the studio has been "aggressively anti-Snyder". To see what we made of his four-hour superhero epic, check out our Zack Snyder's Justice League review. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt Purslow is IGN's UK News and Entertainment Writer.

Marvel’s What If…? Series Is Coming This August

Marvel's What If...? – the animated series exploring hypothetical stories in the MCU – will come to Disney+ this August. Disney confirmed the release window to IGN, which narrows down the original Summer 2021 billing. The show will tell non-canonical stories from the MCU, including tales of Peggy Carter becoming Captain Britain and T'Challa (Black Panther) being abducted by the Reavers that took Peter Quill (Star Lord). [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=marvel-cinematic-universe-every-upcoming-movie-and-tv-show&captions=true"] What If...? fills in the MCU's conspicuous August gap after Loki (beginning June 11 on Disney+) and Black Widow (coming July 9 to theaters and Disney+), and before Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (September 3). We've seen very little of the animated show so far beyond glimpses in a trailer, but we've broken that down frame-by-frame to tell you what's hiding. What If....? will see the return of multiple MCU actors, who'll reprise their roles in animated form. That includes Hayley Atwell (Agent Peggy Carter), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster),  Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, and the late Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa. Xbox Series X and S Insiders Getting Dolby Vision HDR Soon

Microsoft is starting to roll out Dolby Vision gaming to Xbox Series X and S consoles registered to users that are a part of the Xbox Insider's program. Microsoft's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb announced the news in a tweet today. According to Microsoft, the new feature means "brighter highlights, sharper contrast, and more vibrant colors" in games, as long as your next-gen console is connected to a TV that supports Dolby Vision. Dolby announced in September, ahead of both Xbox Series consoles' launch, that X and S would be "the first consoles to support the Dolby Vision HDR format with dynamic metadata for gaming" sometime in 2021. Both consoles already support HDR, but it's HDR10 - a less advanced standard for HDR video. Users enrolled in the Xbox Insider program will want to check the specs to make sure their TV supports the Dolby Vision HDR format, in addition to making sure their TV has installed the latest firmware update to take advantage of the features. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/05/xbox-series-x-review"] This is not the first time members of the Xbox Insider Alpha ring have received access to test out the feature. In March, Forbes reported that Xbox Insiders noticed all HDR games were outputting Dolby Vision instead of only a select handful of games that were supposed to support the feature, with testers noticing improvements to various things brightness and color saturation in HDR games. Still, the feature was limited to a refresh rate of 60Hz, but the publication noted that TV manufacturers are working with Dolby to enable the standard to work at 120Hz. But it's unknown which games will currently support the feature during the initial alpha testing, and Microsoft has yet to say when the Dolby Vision standard will be available to all users. As with most Insider updates, the feature will be rolled out to select users first, with a general release likely to come a little way down the line after mass testing. We've recently seen Xbox roll out new Quick Resume features, as well as dropping certain Xbox Games With Gold requirements for Insiders before committing to the idea wholesale.
