Genshin Impact’s Next Region Will Arrive in December

Developer MiHoYo will add a new region to Genshin Impact in December. This will be the second of three planned updates, with the roadmap planning an update every six weeks. Announced on the official Genshin Impact blog, MiHoYo revealed that the game's third region, Dragonspire, will be added in late December, with an estimated arrival date of December 23. Dragonspire will be accompanied by a "related event". Before that, Version 1.1 will add the Unreconciled Stars event, and is expected to arrive on November 11. Following both of these is Version 1.3, which will arrive in February 2021 and add the Lantern Rite event. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/28/genshin-impact-launch-trailer"] "In future versions, we will combine the unique cultural and calendarial features of in-game regions with dates in the real world to host unique events in Mondstadt and Liyue," explained MiHoYo. Ludi Harpastum and the Windbloom Festival will take place in the game's first region, Mondstadt, while Lantern Rite and the Moonchase Festival will take place in the second region, Liyue. No details have yet to be provided as to what in-game activities will be available during these festivals. Alongside this six-week-interval roadmap, MiHoYo has also stated that it has intentions for new Genshin Impact characters and a next-generation console version. Genshin Impact has been a huge success, with Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad noting that the Chinese RPG has made over $100m in under two weeks, which he believes makes it the most successful Chinese original IP. Previously Ahmad had spoken to us when Genshin Impact pulled in $50m in its first four days, with 17 million downloads on mobile alone. If you're part of Genshin Impact's huge player base, check out our guide on how to raise your adventure rank, how to use cross-save, and our interactive treasure map. The Monster Hunter Trailer Debuts This Week on IGN

IGN Premiere is rolling out a full week of exclusive Monster Hunter movie content, starting today with this brand new image from the video game adaptation. Keep an eye out all this week for more first-look content from the film -- including the domestic trailer debut of Monster Hunter at 6am PT on Wednesday, October 14, exclusively here on IGN! [poilib element="accentDivider"] Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat director Paul W.S. Anderson is translating yet another popular video game franchise to film with Monster Hunter, which is scheduled to hit theaters this December. Monster Hunter stars Anderson’s frequent lead (and wife) Milla Jovovich as Captain Artemis, an original character created just for the movie. As the director recently explained at New York Comic Con, he decided it was important for the story he wanted to tell that the hero in Monster Hunter is a human from our world who is dropped into an extraordinary realm of monsters and mayhem. "I wanted to recapture the feeling of when I first played the video game. I came to the game not knowing anything about it. And as a stranger, I was immersed in this world containing these amazing landscapes and these amazing creatures that would kick my ass," Anderson said. "And I thought, 'I want that. That should be the filmgoing experience as well.'" [ignvideo width=610 height=374 url=https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/03/monster-hunter-exclusive-official-trailer-tease] This approach necessitated creating a protagonist who was an outsider, which led to the creation of Jovovich's character Captain Natalie Artemis, a military officer whose elite unit finds themselves transported to the hostile, nameless world of Monster Hunter where there are many gruesome ways to die thanks to the local, ahem, wildlife. But while Artemis is an original character, her weapon of choice in the movie will be familiar to gamers: the Dual Blades. Anderson explained to IGN in an interview earlier this year that the weapon was chosen "because I love Dual Blades and that’s what I use. It’s as simple as that!” Check out our exclusive new photo of Milla Jovovich’s Artemis in the gallery below: [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=monster-hunter-movie-images&captions=true"] “I experimented with different weapons during the game and was able to kill more monsters with those blades,” Jovovich recalled earlier this year. “I thought they’d look really beautiful in an action sequence.” In addition to the Dual Blades, Artemis also carries a carving knife on her thigh and a Slinger on her left arm. Jovovich shares the screen with Tony Jaa, who plays the Hunter, the movie’s version of Monster Hunter: World’s Field Team Leader. As revealed in the film’s promotional imagery, his weapon of choice is the Great Sword. The movie will use creatures primarily from Monster Hunter: World, with Anderson confirming at NYCC that his movie includes less threatening-looking creatures such as the brawny Felyne called Meowscular Chef, the old partner of the Admiral (played in the film by Hellboy’s Ron Perlman), along with the frightening likes of Rathalos and Diablos. "I love the Rathalos, because the Rathalos is pretty much the rock star of the Monster Hunter video games," Anderson said at NYCC. "It's been in nearly all of the games. It's probably one of the hardest creatures to kill. It's just badass. So I'm very excited that that's in our movie." We’ll all see more of what’s in the Monster Hunter movie when the first domestic trailer premieres right here on IGN this Wednesday, October 14, at 6am PT! The Boys Season 3: Homelander Set Up to Become ‘Homicidal Maniac’

Antony Starr has teased Homelander's fate in The Boys Season 3, revealing that his character will be let "off the leash" in his pursuit of revenge. Speaking to Collider, Starr kept details about his character's future closely under his cloak. In fact, he only teased a couple of words from show creator Eric Kripke about Homelander's storyline in the third season. "There are two words that Eric has said to me about Season 3," Starr admitted. "His description for Homelander Season 3 was, 'Two words, homicidal maniac.' That's all I know." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/02/the-boys-how-much-does-homelander-know-about-homelander"] Towards the end of Season 2, the narcissistic leader of The Seven found himself in a particularly bad place. He started to lose his grip on reality, but he desperately tried to regain control of the unravelling situation. In a scene that was originally cut from the first season, he repeatedly chanted the phrase "I can do whatever I want!" which appears to be his outlook in the next season. "I'm actually looking forward to seeing Homelander off the leash," Starr said. "It'll be really fun, just seeing him go unhinged and exact revenge. If you look at the end of Season 2, some people should be more scared than others, for sure. William Butcher should always have an alarm bell ringing in his head, and I think some other people have firmly put themselves in the line of fire for Season 3." Not only that, but there is also the 'Spend $10, Get $10' promotion to consider in the build-up to the event. We've marked these particular items above to let you know, but the gist of the deal is when you buy from a smaller or independent retailer via Amazon, you'll be rewarded for helping the little guy. That means you'll be gifted a $10 credit to spend during the Prime Day sales on October 13 and 14. UK readers, click here to find out all your current early Amazon Prime Day Deals.

Best Electronics Deals to Expect on Prime Day

2020 is primed and ready to give us some good deals. We've got Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday, and then the Christmas sales. Surely, there will be some good deals to come? Well, we certainly hope so. If you want to find out more, make sure to check out what to expect from Amazon Prime Day 2020 right here on IGN. We're currently predicting that 4K TV deals are going to be one of the hottest tech items up for grabs again come October 13, with big discounts heading towards some top of the line OLED TVs. It'll be the big purchases that you see the most discounts on because $400-600 4K TVs have already been produced to be rather cheap. However, you may still see a few receive so minor discounts, so keep an eye out. Smart home devices are also expected to be big once again, just like every other year. Amazon year on year sells more and more Echo smart speakers, and linking these up with all your new smart tech is definitely the go-to thing to do during big sales. But, you can also expect more deals for other electronic items around the home, including new household tech like vacuums, microwaves, kettles, rice-cookers, insta-pots, and much more.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Prime Day 2020 Image - 13 & 14 October 2020

Prime Day is a massive shopping event put on by the online retailer Amazon, specifically curated for the use of Amazon Prime members. Prime is a premium membership system where users can get access to a wide range of benefits, such as next day delivery, Prime Video, and even several exclusive deals throughout the year, including every single deal that pops up during Prime Day. Prime Day usually situates itself in the Summer, normally July, but with everything that's been going on in the world, it now finds itself firmly in October instead. Prime Day is set to start at 00:01 AM on October 13 and ends at 23:59 on October 14, so you've got two full days of deals to race through when it finally launches. But, we're here to help with everything Prime Day and will be covering all the new and exciting deals that we are expecting to pop up. If you're not already a member, now is the time to sign up and take full advantage of the event. A 30-day free trial won't cost you a thing, and you'll be getting access to all of the best electronic, gaming, and tech deals available during the two-day event for 2020. If you're a seasoned Amazon shopper, then the 1-year membership offers the best long-term value. The $119/yr fee is well worth the many perks of Amazon Prime.

Ghost of Tsushima Will Be Playable on PS5 with 60FPS via Game Boost

Sucker Punch has confirmed that Ghost of Tsushima will be playable on PS5 on day one via backward compatibility, and PS5's Game Boost will allow for the game to reach frame rates of up to 60FPS. Revealed on Twitter, Sucker Punch announced the details following PlayStation's breakdown of the top backward compatibility questions. In addition to what was mentioned above, Ghost of Tsushima will also support save transfers and even faster load times. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/05/ghost-of-tsushima-version-11-update-trailer"] The quicker load times are an interesting, if obvious note, mostly because Sucker Punch previously said that it had to lengthen some of the game's loading screens on PS4 because they were so fast and players were having a tough time reading the tips. This bit of good news for those looking to get a PS5 also arrives alongside the news that Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a free co-op mode, will be out on October 16, 2020. Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is part of the version 1.1 update that will add a New Game+ with additional trophies and a Ghost Flower merchant, Armor Loadouts, a play time indicator, new options for Photo Mode, and more. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=ghost-of-tsushima-legends-and-version-11-new-game-screenshots&captions=true"] Oh, and perhaps most importantly, it will also let players in New Game+ use the Charm of Canine Recruitment to pet dogs and make them their allies a.k.a. their new best friends.
