The Boys: Shawn Ashmore Joins Season 2 Cast As Lamplighter

Shawn Ashmore will be joining The Boys for its second season. Or, should we say, he’ll be joining The Seven: he’s playing Lamplighter, one of the world’s superheroes. Fans may remember from Season 1 (or, indeed, the comics) that new The Seven member Annie January/Starlight was drafted into the superhero team as a replacement for Lamplighter, who left under mysterious circumstances. But, as we’ll see in Season 2, Lamplighter is back. Lamplighter The BoysBeyond his position as part of The Seven, Lamplighter’s past also directly ties into The Boys’ history and why they broke up eight years ago. His presence in Season 2 is sure to whip up some tensions among Butcher and his crew. Season 2 of The Boys begins September 4 on Amazon Prime Video. Three episodes will be available that day, with subsequent episodes released weekly each Friday. The season finale will be available to stream on October 9. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/08/amazons-the-boys-season-2-official-teaser"] In addition, an aftershow - Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys - will begin on August 28 with a look back at Season 1, with new episodes available to accompany each new chapter of the show thereafter. It’s presented by Aisha Tyler. For more on The Boys, check out our sneak peek of an upcoming scene from Season 2 featuring The Deep, a look at the latest posters, and the news that The Boys has been renewed for Season 3. How to Watch Night City Wire Episode 2

We'll be hosting the Cyberpunk 2077 livestream on our channels across a variety of platforms including YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and Twitter. Here’s the full list of places you can watch Night City Wire Episode 2:

What Kind of Cyberpunk 2077 Updates to Expect

As we mentioned earlier, there are three topics CD Projekt Red plans to touch on during Night City Wire episode 2: Weapon types, lifepaths, and how Refused transformed into Cyberpunk 2077’s Samurai. In previous screenshots and gameplay, we were given looks at the variety of weapons in Cyberpunk 2077. So far, we know there are manufacturers that develop a variety of different weapons that fall into three categories — power, smart, and tech. It’s possible we’ll see the different categories of weapons explored in more detail and maybe a bit about each manufacturer's weapon style. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=cyberpunk-2077-screenshots-and-detailed-weapon-and-character-models&captions=true"] As for lifepaths, we explored these a bit in our latest Cyberpunk 2077 previews. These act as an origin story for your character and determine where your journey begins in Cyberpunk 2077. Check out Miranda Sanchez’s experience as the Nomad and Ryan McCaffrey’s experience as the “corpo-rat” if you want to know a little more about what those lifepaths are like ahead of the stream. As for the details around Cyberpunk 2077’s music, CD Projekt Red recently announced punk rock band Refused would be the musicians behind Johnny Silverhand’s group Samurai in the game. We’re sorry to report that Keanu Reeves won’t be doing the singing for his character but it will be interesting to see what role his band plays in Cyberpunk 2077’s dystopian world. Let us know what you're most excited to hear about in the comments. [poilib element="accentDivider"]

Call of Duty: Warzone Glitch Is Turning Players’ Guns Into Terrifying Black Cubes

Call of Duty: Warzone is seeing multiple reports of a new, often game-breaking glitch, which sees gun textures corrupt and, on occasion, turn players into enormous, terrifying cubes of bullet-spewing death. The glitch, which appears to have become widespread after the game's Season 5 patch, can seemingly take multiple forms. For some, it affects elements of the gun, such as this player's dual pistols: For others, the problems are more unusual, with glitched gun textures taking up huge portions of the screen or covering the screen entirely: In all cases, the guns remain entirely usable, with some players taking pride in the fact that they've gotten kills despite the fairly major disadvantage of suddenly using a haunted, eldritch weapon that looks like it should be in Control rather than Call of Duty. What's most interesting, however, is the effect it's having on other players. When an opponent is using a glitched gun, they seemingly become encased within a gigantic, shifting black cube that has no regard for mundane things like "walls" or "the laws of physics". Again, this is a texture issue, meaning there's still a normal character model amidst the evil box. It may well be that these players aren't aware of the glitch while it's happening, as many clips of the glitch show these new and frightening cube-warriors playing normally and landing hits, while their opponents generally freak out. Developer Infinity Ward appears to be aware of the problem - the public Modern Warfare / Warzone development Trello lists "Reports of corruption appearing on the end of weapons after the latest update" as an in-progress fix. No estimate is given for how long that might take to fix, however. Some have reported that removing all visual customisation elements from your own loadout guns will stop the problem (although scavenged weapons, or weapons used in the Gulag can still cause the issue). It's not perfect timing, given that the game has periodically been introducing purposeful visual "glitches" that appear to be teasing an announcement for the much-rumoured Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. We should know more about that later today, with various members of the CoD community being given crates that won't be officially openable until 9am PT – crates which many think will be linked to the announcement of a new game. Crash Bandicoot 4 for Switch Potentially Revealed

A Nintendo Switch release for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time may have been revealed thanks to placeholder code found on the game's website. Twitter user @SunwerPrower tweeted a picture of the It's About Time website source code last Friday, which refers to the Nintendo Switch in a section of the code referred to as 'PlatformLabel'. Viewing the page source still reveals that section at time of writing, with no corresponding option listed on the live site. This doesn't absolutely confirm a Nintendo Switch release for Crash Bandicoot 4, but it suggests that it may become an option in the near future, perhaps revealed later down the line. Given that the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy made its way to the Nintendo Switch around a year after its initial PS4 release, it seems very possible we could see a similar move here. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time was revealed back in June and will launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2, 2020. It will be the second Crash Bandicoot game from Toys for Bob, which delivered the remastered collection Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy in 2018. You can check out our review of the N. Sane Trilogy here, which we scored an 8.5, calling it "N. credible fun" [poilib element="accentDivider"] Jordan Oloman is a freelance writer for IGN. Follow him on Twitter.

Marvel’s Avengers Seemingly Includes Exclusive Skins for Verizon, Intel Customers

Leaked skins from Marvel's Avengers have surfaced on Reddit, seemingly tied to promotional collaborations with Verizon, Intel and Virgin Media. Posted to Reddit by user smoove4254, the first set of skins boast a red and white colourway, with the header tags found suggesting they could be linked to Verizon in the US and Virgin Media in the UK, who both follow a similar colour scheme. The second set of skins are more nostalgic in nature, with Thor sporting an old-school fighting helmet and Iron Man donning a weathered set of armour. According to the user, this set may be part of an upcoming collaboration with technology company Intel. In a report from ComputerBase, leaked product images were found suggesting that an upcoming series of 'KA' model Intel processors will feature a collaboration with Crystal Dynamics' Avengers game, which may well be where these skins stem from. Exclusive elements have become a point of controversy in the lead up to Marvel's Avengers' launch. Most notably, Spider-Man will be an exclusive hero in PlayStation versions of the game, alongside other cosmetics and challenges. We've called that move good for PlayStation, but bad for players. It remains to be seen whether more exclusive elements will appear, but it seems increasingly likely. In other Marvel's Avengers news, check out our 44 helpful tips and tricks for the game's beta program, which is rolling out over the coming weekends. If you're stuck wondering which superhero you should main when you get access, check out our character skill guides to find out which of earth's mightiest heroes best suits your style. Xbox Series S Reportedly Confirmed by Controller Packaging Leak

Xbox Series S, Microsoft's rumored second, cheaper next-gen Xbox, may have been confirmed by a controller packaging leak. The Verge obtained photos of Xbox's next-gen controllers, and the packaging mentions both the confirmed Xbox Series X and the unconfirmed Xbox Series S, which has had a supposed codename in Project Lockhart for quite some time. Twitter user @zakk_exe was able to purchase this new controller on a resale site, and The Verge has verified it is a genuine next-gen controller. Screenshot_2020-08-09 (3) Tom Warren on Twitter Xbox Series S it is Microsoft's second next-gen Xbox console gets confirmed[...]Inkeddfdf_LI At the end of last month, an alleged image of this white Xbox Series X/S controller appeared online, and it's important to note that Microsoft has yet to unveil either a white next-gen console or controller. A recent report suggested that this Xbox Series S reveal would be taking place in August 2020, so news shouldn't be too far away. Xbox Series X, and presumably Xbox Series S, will be released during Holiday 2020, yet we have yet to learn of any release date or price. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/23/halo-infinite-9-minutes-of-campaign-gameplay"] However, Microsoft did feature a bunch of its first-party game in a recent Xbox Games Showcase, and gave fans a new look at Halo Infinite, Fable, Forza Motorsport, Avowed, and much more. A Mother Recovers the $20K Her Son Spent on Twitch Donations in 17 Days

A teenage boy secretly spent $19,870.94 on Twitch donations in just 17 days by using her debit card. Luckily, she was able to recover mostly all of it. As reported by Dot Esports, the donations, which wiped out "years of savings" for the mother, were made to such streamers as Tfue, Gorb, Ewokttv, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kurt Benkert, and Miami Heat's Meyers Leonard. The mother, who chose to remain anonymous, claimed she had a tough time getting in touch with Twitch and "hitting a brick wall" with them was "the most frustrating thing of all." She said no one would respond and there was no way to get in touch with anyone at the streaming company. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/fortnite-the-joy-ride-update-trailer"] She tried filling out an online help form with Twitch, sending registered mail to Twitch CEO Emmett Shear and Amazon's legal team, and more, but had no luck getting any response. Fortunately, she got a tip from a now-deleted Reddit post that she should contact Xsolla, the paying service company that's partnered with Twitch. She used the company's online chat feature and was able to get a refund on the condition that the account it "permanently blocked to prevent future unauthorized charges." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=ninja-career-highlights&captions=true"] The mother claims the son is "remorseful" and is going to counseling. He is also limited to only one hour of monitored daily playtime "with the stipulation that he must do positive activities throughout the day, get exercise, and interact with the family in a positive manner.” Hopefully this will be of some help or a tale of caution for those who ever find themselves in a similar situation. Doctor Who: Christopher Eccleston Returning as The Ninth Doctor

Christopher Eccleston, as the Ninth Doctor, helped usher in a new era of Doctor Who, though his tenure would be short-lived as the actor would leave the series after only one season of 13 episodes due to a breakdown in his relationship with then-showrunner Russell T Davies. Eccleston also famously turned down the chance to reprise the role on several occasions over the years, including an appearance on the 50th Anniversary show. Now it's been announced that Eccleston will return to the role of the Ninth Doctor after fifteen years, for a new Ninth Doctor audio series from BBC Studios and Big Finish. The series will feature twelve full-cast audio adventures, due to be released across four box sets, starting with volume one in May 2021. “After 15 years it will be exciting to revisit the Ninth Doctor’s world," Eccleston said in a release, "bringing back to life a character I love playing.” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-25-most-essential-doctor-who-episodes&captions=true"] Big Finish’s Chairman, Jason Haigh-Ellery said: “I first talked to Christopher about returning to the role of the Doctor at the Gallifrey One convention in February this year. Christopher said he was enjoying meeting the fans and was pleased that his Doctor was remembered so fondly. He indicated he would be open to discussing a project with Big Finish." “And then the pandemic happened and time moved both quickly and very slowly. Over recent months, ideas have been exchanged and discussions had. I am so pleased that Christopher has decided to return to the role with us – and I'm excited to welcome him to the Big Finish family as we discover the new adventures of the Ninth Doctor.” The four volumes in Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Adventures will be released as a 4-disc collector’s edition box set or download containing three brand-new full cast audio adventures, plus a selection of behind-the-scenes extras. Pre-ordering is available now. Other details, including additional guest cast, are not known at this time. Street Fighter Producer Yoshinori Ono to Leave Capcom After Almost 30 Years

Street Fighter producer and Capcom developer Yoshinori Ono has announced that he will be resigning from the company he's worked with for almost 30 years this summer. Ono took to Twitter to explain his decision, and he began by bringing up the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic have brought upon the world and how it has impacted the Capcom Pro Tour and its format for 2020. He then moved on to talk about his departure, and described how much Street Fighter, and its community, have meant to him. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2017/08/02/street-fighter-producer-yoshinori-ono-explains-his-blanka-obsession"] "I've been with the Street Fighter brand for a long time, experiencing good times, bad times, and even non-existent times," Ono said. "My heart is filled with appreciation to those players who've been giving warm and kind support on the brand especially little over the past decade or so as all the activities on the Street Fighter brand regained sunshine and grew its liveliness." "And now, after serving almost 30 years at Capcom, I am leaving the company in this summer. This means that I will resign my position as the brand manager for Capcom's various titles including Street Fighter. " "Capcom staff in the new generation will continue taking care of the Street Fighter brand and leading the World Warriors. And, I do believe that they will continue making Street Fighter extraordinary. I will look forward to seeing the new Street Fighter brand and how it's going to be expanded, as just one of the regular gamers next time around." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="legacyId=20103840&captions=true"] Ono began his career at Capcom working on Mega Man: Battle & Chase for the original PlayStation as a music composer before he went to work on Street Fighter Alpha 3 as a sound manager. He would go on to help with many games, including Devil May Cry, Onimusha, Resident Evil: Outbreak, and more. He quickly became a fan favorite around his work on Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V, as he would appear at many fan events and tournaments with a smile and wonderful energy. Robert Pattinson Tried to Hide His Batman Audition from Christopher Nolan

The way production for both Christopher Nolan's Tenet and Matt Reeves' The Batman lined up, actor Robert Pattinson actually had to make up a story to get time away from the Tenet set so that he could go screen test for the role of Batman. Something which he tried to keep secret from Nolan. While chatting with The Irish Times, Pattinson admitted that his sneakiness didn't work and that Nolan, who was no stranger to the Caped Crusader, immediately figured it out. "It’s funny because Chris is so secretive about everything to do with his movies,” Pattinson said. “And then I had to be really secretive about Batman stuff. So I had to lie to Chris about having to go for a screen test – I said I had a family emergency. And as soon as I said ‘it’s a family emergency’ he said: ‘You’re doing the Batman audition, aren’t you?'” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-robert-pattinson-movies-batman-fans-need-to-see&captions=true"] The Batman, which paused production due to COVID-19 last March, was one of several films that got cleared to resume shooting soon. A few weeks ago, it was announced that Warner Bros. had ordered a TV spinoff to The Batman - a prequel series focused on the members of the Gotham City Police Department that will be exclusive to HBO Max. Dave Bautista tried his best to win the role of Bane in the film, but he wound up not getting the gig. The Batman will be a part of DC's FanDome event on August 22.
