Iron Man VR Free Update Adds New Game Plus, New Weapons

Iron Man VR has received a new update that adds New Game+, an "Ultimate" difficulty mode, new weapons, improved load times, new quality of life features, and much more. Blaine Higdon, gameplay designer at Iron Man VR's developer Camouflaj, took to the PlayStation Blog to explain what's included in the free update, beginning with new game modes. The New Game+ mode will allow players to re-experience Iron Man VR's story without giving up their Research Points, and it immediately unlocks the Impulse Armor. The "Ultimate" difficulty mode has also been added, and will give players who have already mastered the "Invincible" difficulty even more of a challenge. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/02/marvels-iron-man-vr-review"] The new update also brings with it new weapons, including the Continuous Beam Repulsor that allows Iron Man to sustain a beam for several seconds. There will also be an EM Charge Cannon that can penetrate that hardlight shields of Skull, Revenant, and Wight drones. The Micro Swarm shoots out a "fire-and-forget" intelligent anti-swarm weapon that's great for large groups of enemies and, lastly, the Gravity Bomb creates a singularity that traps multiple enemies in their tracks. Eight new Custom Armor Decos, including the Iron Patriot, have been added. These can be unlocked by completing new challenges in-game. Beyond content, this update adds a few welcome quality of life features, including improved load times across the board. Additionally, the Shanghai mission's load times have decreased by 20-30 seconds. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-ign-playstation-first-party-exclusive-review&captions=true"] Players can also skip cinematics without loading when replaying missions, and two side story missions are now skippable if desired following fan feedback. Othercide Review – Mother, May I

Despite its gothic horror visuals and heavy metal-inspired soundtrack, Othercide is, at its core, a heartfelt story about having empathy and compassion for someone who has suffered intense trauma. It's a game about sacrifice and hard choices, of accepting failure with the knowledge that you'll rise again stronger. Othercide's turn-based combat can be brutal, but at its best, it's also intensely rewarding to master. Though it suffers from some repetitive maps and technical issues, Othercide is an impressive strategy game with an otherworldly atmosphere and rich underlying story worth diving into.

From the very start, Othercide pulls you into a grim world on the brink of collapse. A city, already devastated by plague, has now been overrun with nightmare creatures called Others and becomes the site of an apocalyptic event that shatters time and space, resulting in an in-between place called the "Dark Corner." Together with a ghost-like being known as the Red Mother, you must command her army of Daughters in a battle against the Suffering Other and its monstrous creations. With names like Peace, Joy, and Harmony, these wide-eyed, white-haired Daughters cast a stark contrast to the forces of Suffering they face on the battlefield. Othercide does a fantastic job of establishing its horror atmosphere and introducing its main characters--the Red Mother and a Child that has merged with Suffering--in a way that immediately grabs you, compelling you to unravel its secrets.

Memory plays a major role in Othercide, and it's your greatest weapon. If all of your Daughters die, you'll begin a new "recollection," or run, that starts you on Day 1 with a brand-new set of Daughters at full HP. Thankfully, you're not starting from scratch every time; in fact, the game is designed to help you improve with every failure and help you grow stronger. As you complete missions, you earn shards that can be used to unlock "remembrances," which are team-wide advantages that give you a little more of an edge in battle, such as boosting damage against certain enemies or experience earned from missions. Specific ability bonuses, called "memories," can also be directly applied to your Daughters to provide buffs or add certain effects to their attacks. Though memories don’t roll over from one recollection to the next like remembrances do, you earn them quickly through missions. The similar verbiage here can be confusing on your first few runs, but it doesn't take too long to grasp how recollections, remembrances, and memories play a key role in overcoming the challenging combat encounters in Othercide. Early on, because you start with a new set of low-level Daughters in each run, it can feel like you’re progressing too slowly, but the introduction of more and more buffs ensures you’re never truly starting from scratch past your first recollection. And eventually, reaching certain checkpoints unlocks remembrances that allow you to start a new run with Daughters at higher levels.

Apple Counters Epic’s ‘Antitrust’ Arguments, Says Epic Requested a Special Deal

Update: Epic CEO Tim Sweeney says Apple's statement on a special deal for Epic Games is "misleading." In response, Sweeney published the June 30 email between him and Apple executives in which Sweeney requests permission to launch an Epic Games Store app that doesn't adhere to Apple's payment system. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Original Story: Apple has responded to Epic’s antitrust lawsuit in a legal filing made public today that says Epic did request a special deal from Apple, contrary to what Epic CEO Tim Sweeney has said publicly. As reported by CNBC, former Apple senior vice president Phil Schiller wrote that “On June 30, 2020, Epic’s CEO Tim Sweeney wrote my colleagues and me an email asking,” for a special deal that would “fundamentally change the way in which Epic offers apps on Apple’s iOS platform.” [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/13/fortnite-1984-apple-parody-video-short"] Specifically, Apple claims that Epic requested to offer an Epic Games Store app on the App Store that would let iOS users install apps directly from Epic and bypass Apple’s payment processing options. Apple goes on to say that Epic’s request for an injunction to stop Apple from removing Epic’s developer account isn’t valid as any harm happening to Epic is “self-inflicted.” “All of the injury Epic claims to itself, game players, and developers could have been avoided if Epic filed its lawsuit without breaching its agreements. All of the alleged injury for which Epic improperly seeks emergency relief could disappear tomorrow if Epic cured its breach.” Earlier this month Epic Games filed a lawsuit against Apple over “Anticompetitive behavior.” The lawsuit followed a series of escalations that began when Epic started offering V-Bucks in Fortnite at a lower price by bypassing Apple’s pay systems. Apple responded by removing Fortnite from the App Store for breaching the Terms of Service, at which point Epic began its #FreeFortnite campaign complete with Apple commercial parody video, and an upcoming in-game event that highlights the legal battle. Lori Loughlin Gets Two Months in Prison for College Admission Fraud

Full House's Lori Loughlin has been sentenced to two months in prison after being found guilty following a 2019 college scandal. Loughlin's husband, Mossimo Giannulli, was sentenced to five months in prison for his part in the scandal, according to THR. The two must pay a fine of $150,000 and $250,000, respectively. Loughlin must also complete 100 hours of community service after prison while Giannulli must complete 250 hours. These rulings were sentenced individually by U.S. District Judge Nathaniel Gorton via Zoom calls. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2016/02/26/the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly-of-fuller-house"] The couple initially declined to work out a guilty plea last year as they wanted to fight the charges. Loughlin pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud while Giannulli pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and honest services wire and mail fraud. As part of their pleas, additional charges of money laundering and federal programs bribery were dropped from the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin O'Connell told the judge that Loughlin "opted to cheat so her children could steal two admissions spots from more capable, deserving students." "I am truly, profoundly, and deeply sorry," Loughlin said to the judge after her sentencing. "I'm ready to face the consequences and make amends." Loughlin and Giannulli were ordered to surrender themselves to go to prison on Nov. 19. This sentencing comes over a year after the initial news of the scandal broke where it was found that nearly 50 individuals, including 33 parents, nine college coaches, two SAT/ACT administrators, one exam proctor, and one college administrator were involved in a nationwide fraud that involved parents paying a fake college prep organization led by William Singer. Hasbro Reveals New Vader Rogue One and Jedi Fallen Order Figures

Hasbro has revealed a massive new lineup of Star Wars figures and collectibles hitting stores in Fall 2020. These new figures cater to Star Wars fans of all tastes, whether you prefer the classic 3.75-inch line, the modern Black Series line or even full-size replicas. And if you're a fan of that iconic Darth Vader scene from Rogue One, you'll definitely want to see what Hasbro has in store. Check out the slideshow gallery below to see everything Hasbro revealed during its latest Fan First Friday livestream: [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=star-wars-hasbro-reveals-new-rogue-one-and-jedi-fallen-order-figures&captions=true"] Perhaps the most noteworthy reveal here is the announcement of the 3.75-inch scale Celebrate the Saga line, which features eight different five-figure box sets inspired by a different theme (The Resistance, The First Order, Bounty Hunters, The Sith, etc.) Each set includes an exclusive droid figure not found anywhere else. According to Hasbro, these sets will be limited run releases that will eventually be retired. So if you prefer your Star Wars figures in this scale, you'll probably want to grab all eight while you can. Rogue One fans will be happy with the new additions being made to the Vintage Collection line. Darth Vader is getting a new Rogue One-inspired figure, while Hasbro is also releasing a new Tantive IV Hallway playset that recreates the hallways of that iconic ship. The set can be connected and combined with future sets, allowing collectors to recreate either Vader's march of death in the climax of Rogue One or the opening battle from A New Hope. Other notable reveals include a Black Series Purge Trooper figure inspired by Jedi Fallen Order, a Vintage Collection figure of Clone Wars/Rebels mainstay Hondo Ohnaka and an Emperor Palpatine Force FX Elite Lightsaber replica. Back in July, Hasbro revealed another new batch of Star Wars figures, including a Walmart-exclusive Black Series wave inspired by the final story arc of The Clone Wars. Hasbro also recently unveiled a series of Venom-themed Marvel Legends figures, each of which include a piece to build a monstrous Venompool figure. Wonder Woman 84: Beautiful New Poster Revealed Ahead of DC FanDome Trailer Drop

Wonder Woman 1984 has received a beautiful and stylish new poster ahead of its DC FanDome trailer drop. WW84 director Patty Jenkins tweeted the new poster today alongside "many fun new things ahead...see you TOMORROW!! Who's ready? #TRAILERDROP." DC FanDome begins tomorrow, Aug. 22, when Part 1 of the show goes live. The event was previously a 24-hour digital-only event before it was split into a two-part celebration of DC and a new WW84 trailer will drop during the first part tomorrow. Wonder Woman 1984 Poster The last trailer released for the movie was released back in December 2019. A second trailer hasn't yet been released so tomorrow's will be the first glimpse at new footage in nearly a year. This new poster above features a colorful retro palette and matches previously-released posters for the film. WW84 features the return of characters like Steve Trevor while the titular hero finds herself in the 1980s facing off against Kirsten Wiig's Cheetah and Pedro Pascal's Maxwell Lord. Not much more is known about the movie's story although there's plenty to glean from the information we already know. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/09/wonder-woman-1984-trailer-breakdown-rewind-theater"] Much of the movie's news as of late has been about its frequent delays. The movie was originally slated for November 1, 2019, before getting postponed to June 5, 2020. It was delayed once more to Aug. 14 and it now has a release date of Oct. 2. The movie industry as a whole has seen widespread delays as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Since the start of the pandemic, fans have wondered how movies like WW84 would fare. Some movies like Universal's Trolls World Tour went to streaming services, completely bypassing theaters. Others have taken a more premium route, like Disney's Mulan. AT&T boss John Stankey recently commented on the possibility of a video-on-demand release for WW84, explaining that it's unlikely. For now, though, it seems WW84 is aiming for a silver screen release this October. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Wesley LeBlanc is a freelance news writer and guide maker for IGN. Borat 2 Has Reportedly Already Been Filmed and Screened

UPDATE: Borat 2 is reportedly already done filming and has even been screened for some industry people. According to Collider, Borat 2 has already been shot on location around L.A. Plot details and even who is involved in making the film beyond star-creator Sacha Baron Cohen remains murky. "It’s unclear who is paying for the sequel, but it wouldn’t surprise us if Borat 2 was being financed by a deep-pocketed streamer," Collider reports, adding, "Some believe it will be released prior to the election in an effort to reach younger voters." Our original report from August 21 follows. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Borat 2 is seemingly being filmed in Los Angeles as recent footage of the character has surfaced on YouTube. Borat, or as it was officially titled, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, was released in 2006 as a comedy. It found an audience that still quotes the movie today but over the years, the film has continued to draw criticism for its depiction of someone from Kazakhstan, especially as it's portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen, who is not Kazakh. Cohen, who plays the character, is seemingly bringing the character back for new audiences as seen in the footage here. You can check out what appears to be Cohen as the character below. Borat 2 If that's not enough to make you believe Cohen is up to something with the character, here's a shot from later in the video where you can see a camera crew filming Cohen's antics. Borat 2 Camera Crew Assuming Cohen is filming Borat 2, it would be the first major character of his to make a return for a sequel. Borat was Cohen's breakout role for many but other characters like Bruno and Da Ali G have gone on to find their own fame. As arguably Cohen's most popular character, it makes sense for Borat to receive a sequel out of his entire catalog of characters. There's no official confirmation or word of Borat 2 but the proof of something related to the character is in the video. Perhaps it's something for TV or YouTube. Only time will tell. Borat is about a Kazakh journalist that travels to and throughout the U.S. to make a documentary. It features actual interviews between Borat and people in the U.S, often completely unscripted. For more Cohen, read about a possible comedy interview series he has in the works and then read about Bruno's best TV moments. Exclusive DC FanDome Merchandise Showcases DC’s Black Heroes

While we're looking forward to all the news and trailers in store at DC FanDome, we can't forget that exclusive swag is half the fun of any comic convention. And FanDome is no exception, even if it's an entirely virtual event. DC fans will be able to purchase all sorts of exclusive merch from the FanDome website, including a series of customizable products from Designed by Humans. Fans will be able to select from various images drawn by popular DC artists and have those images printed on clothing, phone cases, pop sockets and tote bags. Or, if you're a purist you can just order the images as art prints. IGN can exclusively debut several pieces of art drawn by Ken Lashley, whose past DC work includes Batman, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Superman/Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad. Lashley has created a new series dubbed DRAWN: Black DC Super Heroes, spotlighting some of the most popular black heroes in the DCU like Green Lantern John Stewart, Vixen and Black Lightning. Check out his new work, along with a special Juneteenth-inspired design from Denys Cowan, in the slideshow gallery below: [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=dc-fandome-exclusive-merchandise-showcases-dcs-black-heroes&captions=true"] Lashley will also be appearing in his own FanDome panel, Drawn: Black DC Super Heroes With Ken Lashley, where he reflects on his career and gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at how he creates his art. The panel will be available to view in the InsiderVerse portal on the FanDome website. Other items being offered exclusively at DC FanDome include a Supergirl LEGO mini-figure, a pre-release Wonder Woman 1984 LEGO set featuring Wonder Woman and Cheetah and a "Venus Williams X Wonder Woman" athletic wear collection. The official DC FanDome store launches August 22 at 10 a.m. PT at shop.dcfandome.com. DC FanDome is a two-part event that will officially launch online on Saturday, August 22. In the absence of a big DC presence as part of ComicCon@Home this year, it seems like this will be the place for any major DC news in 2020, with a huge guest list of stars taking part in the virtual fan-first experience hosted on the DC FanDome site, which will offer multiple language options for fans around the globe. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/20/ben-affleck-will-play-batman-in-the-flash-movie-ign-now"] We've already gotten several big announcements before FanDome has officially begun, including a look at the official logo for The Batman and confirmation that Ben Affleck's Batman is returning in The Flash movie.
