While no release date or further details were discussed, it's safe to say enhanced visuals and performance are likely in store. Also, since Control supported ray tracing on PC, it's possible we may see that in the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions as both next-gen consoles are touting the feature. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/10/why-control-is-igns-game-of-the-year-for-2019"] Control was IGN's Game of the Year in 2019 and we're excited for another opportunity to explore the Oldest House once again. The Foundation expansion launched earlier this year and is the first piece of story DLC for Control and tasks Jesse with exploring what lies below the Oldest House. While the second expansion has yet to launch, Remedy has hinted at future installments in the Control franchise saying "the Oldest House might be infinite, we don't know, so it's definitely a good place to take any story." During Sony's PS5 reveal event, Guerrilla revealed Horizon: Forbidden West, a sequel to its critically-acclaimed action-adventure game. In a twist, organic creatures are alive again, though something is threatening their existence. Aloy ventures into far off lands and explores the ruins of old societies in a quest to save the natural world. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/horizon-forbidden-west-horizon-2-reveal-trailer-ps5-reveal-event"] The original Horizon Zero Dawn is set to hit PC this year, and IGN praised the PS4 exclusive when it launched in 2017, saying in our Horizon Zero Dawn review that it "juggles many moving parts with polish and finesse." Sony explains that the sequel continues Aloy’s story as she moves west, where awe-inspiring machines and mysterious new threats wait. Demon’s Souls PS5 Remake Announced

Bluepoint Games, the developers behind the PS4 remake of Shadow of the Colossus, has announced its new PS5 game, a remake of the beloved FromSoftware PS3 exclusive, Demon's Souls. The long-rumored remake from Bluepoint was officially announced at today's PlayStation 5 games reveal. Japan Studios is helping Bluepoint in development. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/11/demons-souls-remake-reveal-trailer-ps5-reveal-event"] The YouTube trailer for Demon's Souls confirms that this is a remake, not a remaster, saying it is, "Entirely rebuilt from the ground up and masterfully enhanced." Oddly that trailer description originally included more information than it currently does, as pointed out on Reddit. That original description mentioned that the game would have two graphics modes - one for graphical quality, the other focused on frame rate - and that the game would include a "Fractured mode". Some have speculated that Fractured Mode will allow you to switch back to the original game's graphics, while others have guessed that it may act as a nightmare difficulty mode of sorts. Back in 2018, Bluepoint said that its next game, another remake, was going to be bigger than its ambitious Shadow remake. And back in one of the earliest PS5 reveals, we learned Bluepoint was in fact working on a PS5 game, however details have remained light since. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/11/demons-souls-mp4-1591908937957mp4"] Demon's Souls debuted in 2009, and while its popularity has not been as widespread as the Dark Souls series to follow, it was still heralded at its release, earning a 9.4 in our original Demon's Souls review. Demon's Souls remained popular  among fans long enough to have its online servers exist for years after launch, until the servers were shut off in 2018. Bluepoint has frequently worked with Sony over the years on a number of remasters and remakes, including Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and Gravity Rush Remastered for PS4. Resident Evil 8 Announced for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC

Update: Resident Evil 8 Village has been confirmed to be releasing on Xbox Series X and Steam on PC, as well as PS5. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Resident Evil is returning, and it will mark the long-running franchise's first entry on next-gen consoles. Announced via the PS5 game reveal event, Resident Evil 8 Village has a release date of 2021. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/11/resident-evil-8-village-announement-trailer-ps5-reveal-event"] Set a few years after Resident Evil 7, we return to Ethan and Mia, who now live free from their past nightmares. Until tradgedy happens, of course. Chris Redfield turns up in their life to drag Ethan into a new nightmarish situation, once again experienced via the first-person perspective of Resi 7. Ethan will visit a village plagued by horrors, which acts as a wider, more open canvas for fear than the cramped Baker mansion. Capcom promises the village will almost be a character itself, which sounds similar to the approach taken with the original game's Spencer Mansion.  There will be new foes, including what appears to be a werewolf, as well as a new cast of creepy characters. It certainly seems to be taking the more grounded fears of Resi 7 and dialing it up a notch. Capcom have also promised that the action elements will be increased. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=resident-evil-village-playstation-5-screenshots&captions=true"] There is also a revamped inventory screen, which looks closer to Resi 4's briefcase design than the smaller side-panel design used in RE7 and the recent remakes. Resident Evil 8 Village key artReports of Resident Evil 8 going first-person, like Resident Evil 7, cropped up earlier this year, as did reported details about release plans and gameplay details for the resident Evil sequel. The series has seen a number of major new and remade releases recently, including RE7, which shifted the perspective of mainline entries, followed by the acclaimed Resident Evil 2 remake in 2019, as well as the Resident Evil 3 Remake this year, which IGN praised as "a wonderful continuation of Capcom’s latest remake efforts." While there are some slight differences in the look of each model, for the overall design, we wanted to deliver a console that’s bold, stunning, and unlike any previous generation of PlayStation."
