World War Z Author’s Bigfoot Book ‘Devolution’ Is Headed for the Big Screen
Devolution, the latest book by World War Z author Max Brooks, is getting the feature film treatment.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary Entertainment has acquired the new novel, titled Devolution: A Firsthand Account of the Rainier Sasquatch Massacre, which hit shelves on Tuesday via the Del Rey imprint of Penguin Random House.

The supernatural story is drawn from the journals of Kate Holland, recovered from the bloody wreckage of a volcanic eruption in the eco-community town of Mt. Rainier that has been rampaged by ferocious beasts known as the Sasquatch. The Bigfoot thriller is described as "part survival narrative, part bloody horror tale, part scientific journey into the boundaries between truth and fiction."
Devolution was originally set to be developed as a creature feature back in 2012, with Lost TV director Jack Bender and David Leslie Johnson attached to the project alongside Brooks, who was working on the concept for Legendary, but Brooks switched mediums and decided to turn the idea into a book first. However, now that Devolution has been optioned for an adaptation, Bender and Leslie Johnson are no longer involved.

Brooks is best known for writing World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, which was adapted by Paramount into the Brad Pitt-starring zombie horror movie, World War Z, that grossed $540 million worldwide following its release in 2013. A sequel was in development, but production halted last year due to budgeting issues and a lack of momentum.

Next Pokemon Presents Announced for June 24
The Pokemon Company has announced that its next Pokemon Presents will take place on June 24, 2020, and certain Pokemon in the background of today's Pokemon Presents may be hinting that it will reveal a Let's Go version of Pokemon Gold and Silver.
At the end of today's Pokemon Presents today, President and CEO of The Pokemon Company Tsunekazu Ishihara announced another new Pokemon Presents would be taking place on June 24, but didn't give any new details beyond it being a "big project" the company is working on.
However, if you look closely in the background of today's Pokemon Presents, you will notice a few Pokemon that may confirm a follow-up to Pokemon, Let's Go! Pikachu and Let's Go! Eevee for Pokemon Gold and Silver may be on there way.
The first clue lies in the middle shelf, behind Ishihara. The Pokemon featured on this shelf are Ho-Oh, Lugia, Lapras, Mewtwo, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, all of whom are featured in Pokemon Gold and Silver's Pokedex. (Thanks, @CaptainWoodsy!)
On the top left, we also have Politoed, Sudowoodo, and Ampharos.
Lastly, and possibly one of the biggest hints, is on the bottom right shelf. In front of the Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee! Nintendo Switch bundle box are Eevee and two of its evolutions - Espeon and Umbreon. This could be a subtle way of letting us know that the next entries in the Let's Go series could be Pokemon: Let's Go, Espeon! and Let's Go, Umbreon!?
These possible teases book-ended a near 11-minute presentation filled with announcements like Pokemon Smile, Pokemon Cafe Mix, New Pokemon Snap for Switch, Mega Evolutions for Pokemon Go, and another look at Pokemon Sword and Shield's Isle of Armor DLC, which is also out today.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Will Use Same VFX Technology As The Mandalorian
Ewan McGregor has suggested that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ will use the same groundbreaking visual effects techniques as The Mandalorian.
In an interview with ACE Nation, McGregor, who appeared in George Lucas' Star Wars prequel trilogy, teased some behind-the-scenes details about the upcoming Obi-Wan spinoff series. In particular, he lauded today's VFX technology and how much it has evolved since his involvement with the saga in the early 2000s.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/27/why-the-mandalorian-works-better-than-the-movies-opinion"]
"I think I am going to enjoy it much more," he admitted. "[The prequels] were all blue screen and green screen and it was hard to imagine, but nowadays I think things have moved on so much, and I think a lot of what you see is gonna be what we see on the set.
"I don't know if you've seen the behind-the-scenes of The Mandalorian series, but they employ that incredible screen... it's pretty amazing. It makes you feel like you're in the place, it's going to feel realer for us, as actors. And I think we'll be using some of that technology on our show."
For The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm utilised a cutting-edge technology, known as "StageCraft," that projects high-resolution imagery onto LED screens, which wrap around sets to create reactive surroundings for actors to immerse themselves into their environments.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which was originally set to be a movie, is set to take place 8 years after Revenge of the Sith and will be directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed episodes of The Mandalorian. Joby Harold also recently signed on as a writer for the series, even though its production has been on hold since the beginning of the year.
For more, find out everything we know about the series and watch the moment that the long-awaited show was revealed at the D23 Expo 2019.

Pokemon Go Is Getting Mega Evolution
Mega Evolution is coming to Pokemon Go, with a new mechanic based on the mainline games' popular system.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/17/pokemon-presents-full-show"]
Announced as part of Pokemon Presents, no mega evolved Pokemon were shown, but Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of The Pokemon Company, promised that this new take on Mega Evolution will be enhanced by Pokemon Go's unique gameplay.
In the mainline Pokemon games, Mega Evolution is a temporary form of evolution used in battle. It was introduced in the sixth generation of Pokemon games, and there are 46 species of Pokemon that can mega evolve. As the announcement for Pokemon Go's introduction of the mechanic was brief, there is no word yet on which Mega Evolution forms will be available, but it's sensible to assume that if a Pokemon in Pokemon Go can Mega Evolve in the core games, then it stands a chance of doing the same in the mobile game.
In other news from Pokemon Presents, Pokemon Snap is coming to Switch, and a new free-to-start game, Pokemon Cafe Mix, is coming to Switch and mobile.

New Pokemon Snap Announced
New Pokemon Snap, a new version of the classic N64 Pokemon photography game, has been announced for Nintendo Switch.
The game is currently in development for Nintendo Switch, and is listed as "coming soon". According to the endslate of today's Pokemon Presents broadcast, the game is being developed by Bandai Namco.
Per a Pokemon Company description:
"The New Pokémon Snap game for the Nintendo Switch system is based on its namesake, which was first released for the Nintendo 64 console in 1999. This game will take Trainers on an adventure to unknown islands overflowing with natural sights such as jungles and beaches, where they can research various Pokémon in their natural habitats. They will take photos to make their very own in-game Pokémon Photodex, all while discovering new, never-before-seen Pokémon expressions and behaviors."[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/17/pokemon-snap-switch-official-trailer"] The New Pokemon Snap website clarifies that the game will include "deserts, jungles and more". The trailer confirms that Pokemon from multiple generations will appear in the game. The last time we saw Pokemon Snap was when it appeared on Wii U as a Virtual Console game. Back at release in 1999, we awarded the original game a 7.8/10 review, saying "through clever design, intuitive control, lots of traditional secrets and, of course, more than 60 Pokemon to snap pictures of and toy with, it's a game that is a lot of fun in spite of its seemingly simplistic design and nature." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=new-pokemon-snap-30-screenshots-and-trailer-images&captions=true"] New Pokemon Snap was by far the biggest, but far from the only Pokemon announcement today. We also learned about Pokemon Cafe Mix, a free-to-start puzzle game, Pokemon Smile, a free app to help toothbrushing(!), and the fact that Mega Evolutions are coming to Pokemon Go. We'll learn even more next week, when Pokemon Presents returns on June 24, a show which will contain news of another major Pokemon project. Pokemon Cafe Mix: Free to Start Game Announced
The Pokemon Company has announced Pokemon Cafe Mix, a free-to-start puzzle game coming to Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/17/pokemon-cafe-mix-official-trailer"]
Revealed as part of Pokemon Presents, in Pokemon Cafe Mix, you are put in the role of the owner of a cafe for Pokemon. Puzzles are based around preparing drinks and dishes for your Pokemon customers, with a mechanic based on swirling Pokemon icons around and attempting to link matching ones together. There are a variety of different puzzles, but all appear to be rooted in the same icon-swirling mechanic.
As well as being regular customers that you can befriend, Pokemon can also join your staff, where they will be able to aid with puzzle solving by using special abilities. And as time goes by, you'll also be able to extend your cafe with new areas.
