Y: The Last Man TV Series Still in Pre-Production, FX Boss Says

According to FX president John Landgraf, the planned TV adaptation of the acclaimed comic book series, Y: The Last Man, is still in pre-production despite its 2020 release window. Speaking to members of the press at the Television Critics Association, Landgraf told the audience that Y: The Last Man TV show is “in pre-production. Eliza Clark is running that show with Brand Simpsons and Nina Jacobson. We’ve seen five or six scripts now. We haven’t scheduled it because it hasn’t gone into production yet. But it seems to be going well.” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=tv-shows-to-watch-in-2020&captions=true"] FX has been working on a Y: The Last Man TV series for some time now with eyes on a 2020 release. The series suffered some setback last year when showrunners Michael Green and Aïda Mashaka Croal departed the project over creative differences. Y: The Last Man is a comic book created by Brian K. Vaughan and artist Pia Guerra set in a world where Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand are the last surviving mammals with an X chromosome. It was announced that the FX series would shorten the name of the TV show to just “Y,” dropping the “Last Man” subtitle of the series. Landgraf said this was to make the series more mysterious as well as expand the scope of the show to focus more on the women who run the world like Senator Brown who will be played by Diane Lane. Other actors attached to the series include Barry Keoghan as Yorick Brown, Imogen Poots as Hero Brown, Lashana Lynch as Agent 355, Juliana Canfield as Beth, Marin Ireland as Nora, Amber Tamblyn as Mariette Callos, and Timothy Hutton as the U.S. President. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2015/10/14/fx-developing-y-the-last-man-tv-series-ign-news"] While it sounds like the production of Y is still gearing up, at the very least it doesn’t seem like FX has canceled production on the series. Fargo Season 4 Release Date Set for April

Fear not, Fargo fanatics. The long wait for the series' return is almost over. FX has revealed an April 2020 premiere date for Fargo: Season 4. As part of FX's Television Critics Association presentation today, the network revealed Fargo will return on Sunday, April 19 at 10pm ET/PT. The season's first two episodes will debut that night, with one new episode to follow each Sunday after. New episodes will also premiere on Hulu on FX the following day. Fargo will return almost three years after Season 3 wrapped up in June 2017. According to creator Noah Hawley, the delay has always been a matter of finding the right approach and ensuring a fourth season has an important story to tell. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=tv-shows-to-watch-in-2020&captions=true"] "I really love that world," said Hawley in early 2018. "But it's still very much a question for me of making sure there's something left to say about it, and balancing tone. I never want it to be something that people go, 'Oh that thing, it's the accents and the funny crime show.' Yeah, it’s still very much a work in progress." Chris Rock has been tapped to star in Fargo: Season 4. The new season shifts the setting to 1950's Kansas City, with Rock playing a crime syndicate leader forced to trade his eldest son with a mafia rival in order to ensure peace. FX previously teased of Season 4, "It’s a story of immigration and assimilation, and the things we do for money. And as always, a story of basically decent people who are probably in over their heads. You know, Fargo." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/08/03/chris-rock-to-star-in-fargo-season-4"] In other big FX news, the network has renewed American Horror Story through Season 13 and revealed the premiere date for What We Do in the Shadows: Season 2. Leonardo DiCaprio Channels Inner Jack Dawson to Save Man From Drowning

Leonardo DiCaprio is being hailed a hero after he reportedly helped to save a man from drowning in the Caribbean sea last month. Jack Dawson might not have survived the Titanic disaster in James Cameron's blockbuster epic, but DiCaprio avenged his character's on-screen death when he rescued a man who fell overboard a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean on December 30, 2019. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/10/23/titanic-2-set-to-sail-in-2020"] According to a report in The Daily Mail, the Hollywood star picked up on a mayday call and immediately diverted his vessel, which was stationed off the island of St. Barts, to search for the man who had apparently spent that past 11 hours treading water to survive. The search and rescue was an alleged success due to the combined efforts of DiCaprio and his friends, who apparently managed to locate the stranger stranded in the choppy sea and pull him to safety before a massive storm rolled in later that night. The boat's captain described their mission as a "one in a billion shot." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-top-25-highest-grossing-movies-of-all-time-domestic&captions=true"] Fortunately, everyone involved was able to breathe a huge sigh of relief, especially DiCaprio who was the main person responsible for the dramatic rescue operation, even though, ironically, his beloved character failed to survive the icy cold waters in Titantic, 23 years earlier. Many have pointed out that Jack's tragic death was probably preventable if Rose had just shifted over a little bit on the piece of door that was keeping her afloat. Even Kate Winslet admitted that Jack "could have fitted" alongside her on the raft, though James Cameron has since refuted this theory. Here’s Our First Real Look at an Intel Graphics Card

Intel surprised us at CES 2020 by demoing its first discrete graphics card technology in a gaming laptop that was able to run Destiny 2 extremely well. And now in another unexpected surprise, Intel also turned its first dGPU into a desktop graphics card—but it's only a special sample being sent out to independent software vendors for now. Enter the Intel DG1, a seemingly small discrete graphics card with a blower style fan and a strip of RGB lighting. Unfortunately, Intel hasn't provided details on how many stream processors, compute units, or any measure of specs that would inform us of how powerful this card will be. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=intel-dg1-external-gpu-or-tech-team&captions=true"] Instead, Intel’s presentation slides allude to how the Xe graphics found inside the company recently announced 11th Generation Tiger Lake processors will be twice as powerful than the Gen 11 graphics found in last year’s batch of 10nm Ice Lake CPUs. Intel Xe Ice Lake’s Gen 11 graphics were impressive in their own right allowing us to finally play games like Overwatch at Full HD and medium settings on something as lightweight as an Ultrabook. If Intel’s Xe graphics are really as powerful they promise to be, we could be looking at a dGPU that’s as powerful as a Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti or higher. Intel Xe Where all of this ties back into the new DG1 graphics card is it shares the same underlying Xe architecture as Intel’s new mobile graphics platform, so we should expect the same level of performance from this desktop product if not more. Intel Xe Graphics Intel also announced its plans to establish its Xe graphics architecture across a wide array of devices. To that end Intel has split the Xe architecture across three lines of products including Xe-LP for mobile solutions with low-power envelopes (in other words, laptops). Meanwhile, Xe HP will power high-performance computers used in gaming and as workstations. Lastly, there’s the Xe HPC platform that will cover deep learning and cloud computing usually seen in the enterprise sector. Sadly, Intel only plans to initially provide its new DG1 graphics card to independent software vendors, so it won’t be available to the general public anytime soon. But at least Intel plans to hold an AMA on Reddit on January 16th at 9am to 10am Pacific, where we hope to learn more about this mystery card.
