Xbox Won’t Have Series X Exclusives for at Least a Year
2020 is when the next-generation of consoles is set to be released, but Microsoft is upending the playbook this year by announcing the upcoming Xbox Series X won’t launch with exclusive games. Instead, any new title playable on the Series X will also be playable on older Xbox One consoles.
“As our content comes out over the next year, two years, all of our games, sort of like PC, will play up and down that family of devices,” said Xbox Game Studios boss Matt Booty in a recent interview with MCV. “We want to make sure that if someone invests in Xbox between now and [Series X] that they feel that they made a good investment and that we’re committed to them with content.”

What this means is that Xbox will still have console exclusives on Xbox and PC, but they won’t be limited to just the Series X. Upcoming games for the next-gen Microsoft console will also be playable on the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X.
This is somewhat of a departure for next-gen hardware. While there are cross-gen games that are usually released within the first two years of a console launch, there are also next-gene exclusive games that are released to incentivize the early adoption of new hardware. But Microsoft seems to be avoiding that strategy with the Series X.
Anticipated Series X games like Halo Infinite are already confirmed to also be coming to Xbox One, but it sounds like Microsoft is planning for Xbox games to be cross-generational for at least the next two years.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Won’t Have a Mercenaries Mode
The recently announced Resident Evil 3 will not have a Mercenaries Mode according to the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK. In an interview with Capcom producer Peter Fabiano, it was revealed that the mode is to be replaced with the team-based survival horror mode, Resident Evil Resistance.
Similar to Resident Evil 2, Nemesis won’t be a complete one-to-one remake. There are a few changes Capcom has implemented to distinguish it from the original. One of the biggest changes is the exclusion of Mercenaries - Operation: Mad Jackal, a minigame that players could unlock after beating the original Resident Evil 3. In the mode, players are tasked with trying to escape the city within a time limit, killing zombies and saving survivors along the way.

While Mercenaries Mode shares a few similarities to the new minigame it's been replaced with, the two are still very different. Previously known as Project Resistance, Resident Evil Resistance was first officially revealed in early September 2019. A gameplay trailer followed shortly after revealing the mode to be an online multiplayer that pits four players against one as they try to escape perilous stages in a limited amount of time.
Each character has a backstory and signature abilities players can use to escape. Meanwhile, the evil “Mastermind” places dangerous obstacles, such as traps and enemies, on the map to try and stop them. In our Resident Evil Resistance hands-on preview, we found it to be very reminiscent of Friday the 13th.

In addition to replacing Mercenaries Mode, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will not have multiple endings. In the OPM interview, Fabiano also confirmed that Capcom will be adding the ability to play as Carlos Oliveira.
“Carlos will have his own interesting section to play through.” He said.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis arrives on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3, 2020.

Look Sharp With These Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch Accessories
We're getting closer to Animal Crossing: New Horizons' 2020 release date every day, and HORI has revealed its line-up of Animal Crossing-themed Nintendo Switch accessories. Better still, they're available for preorder right now, although you have to order them from Amazon Japan.
Check out the slideshow below to see all the Animal Crossing: New Horizon gear being offered by HORI:
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=hori-nintendo-switch-animal-crossing-new-horizons-accessories&captions=true"]
There's an adorable Animal Crossing sling to keep your Switch on your back, a Switch Lite clutch, Animal Crossing tote bag, a Switch charging stand, Switch Lite hard case, and a bag to haul an entire Nintendo Switch set-up (with room for the console, dock, AC adapter, controllers and cords). All of the items are officially licensed by Nintendo and all feature an Animal Crossing minimalist motif. It's almost like a Louis Vitton or MCM print, but in Animal Crossing form.
As of right now, these items are only available in Japan, but Amazon Japan is surprisingly great when it comes to shipping internationally. You can easily order one or more (or all) of the items and have them shipped to your house. They're all available for preorder with a March 31 release date.
You can preorder Animal Crossing New Horizons in the US from most major retailers, but unlike the UK, there are no bonuses at the time being.
