New Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Character to Be Revealed on Thursday

Nintendo has announced that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game director Masahiro Sakurai will be unveiling and giving an in-depth look at a new DLC fighter on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at 6am PT/9am ET/2pm GMT. Nintendo promises roughly 35-minutes of footage for this mysterious new character which, if Nintendo keeps to its original promise, will be released by February 2020. SmashThis new fighter will join Piranha Plant, Persona 5's Joker, the Dragon Quest Hero, Banjo Kazooie, and Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard as characters who have been added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate following its release in December of 2018. As for who this character may end up being, Sakurai has previously stated that Super Smash Bros. will continue to only feature video game characters, even though fans have frequently requested the addition of such others as Goku and Iron Man. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=even-more-characters-we-want-in-super-smash-bros-ultimate-pt-1&captions=true"] There have been unconfirmed leaks for DLC fighters, which we won't spoil for you here, and we have also discussed who we believe would be the best additions to the already massive roster of beloved characters. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which recently became the best-selling fighting game ever, will continue to release DLC fighters following the release of this last character of the first Fighters Pass. How many more? That's anyone's guess. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/09/06/super-smash-bros-ultimate-banjo-and-kazooie-dlc-review"] [poilib element="accentDivider"] Have a tip for us? Final Fantasy 7 Remake Gets Delayed By a Month

Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been delayed to April 10. It was originally scheduled for release on March 3. In a press release, producer Yoshinori Kitase provided a statement:

“We know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on. In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020.

"We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.

[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=final-fantasy-7-remake-over-100-screenshots&captions=true"] The delay comes less than two weeks after a leaked demo for FF7 Remake appeared to spoil elements of the full game. A Quiet Place Director Talks About the Possibility of Making a Trilogy

A Quiet Place 1 and 2’s co-writer, director, and star hasn’t ruled out the possibility of making a third film in the series.

In an interview with Total Film magazine (via GamesRadar), John Krasinski said that A Quiet Place Part 2 may not necessarily be the last we see of the scary world of sound-sensitive monsters he created.

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/01/02/a-quiet-place-part-2-official-trailer"]

“I set up a couple of tiny little Easter eggs in 2 that not only explain more about 1, but would allow for more mythology,” Krasinski said. “But, being a Boston Catholic, I can’t be like, ‘Yeah, of course, there’ll be a third!’ No, not at all.”

Krasinski made it clear that he’s not talked to the studio about making another film in the series after A Quiet Place Part 2, and adds that “this isn’t one of those franchises where we keep pumping them out if they make money.”

However, Krasinski didn’t shut down the idea of doing A Quiet Place Part 3 at one point, he would just need to be happy with it.

“But if I could think of a way to continue this world as elegantly as people deserve, because they gave me their trust in watching this movie and loving this movie as much as they did? Sure,” he said. “But if you’re asking: do I think I could just do a third one, to just do a third one? No way.”

[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-14-best-horror-sequels-of-the-century-so-far&captions=true"]

A Quiet Place Part 2 is due to arrive in theatres in March 2020. It’s said to focus more on the origins of the film’s monsters as well as tell the stories of other survivors.

In our A Quiet Place review we gave it an 8.2 and said “it'll probably remind you of Jurassic Park mixed with Cloverfield, plus a dash of Aliens and a pinch of Buffy's ‘Hush’.”

No Time to Die: Billie Eilish Will Perform James Bond 25 Theme Song

Update:  Billie Eilish will be performing the theme song to No Time to Die, the 25th film in the James Bond franchise. "The No Time to Die title song will be performed by Billie Eilish. Billie has written the song with her brother Finneas and is the youngest artist in history to write and record a James Bond theme song," a tweet from the official 007 account revealed on Tuesday. Eilish commented on the announcement, saying, "It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honour. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I'm still in shock." [poilib element="accentDivider"] Original story: Billie Eilish has shared a montage of photos of iconic Bond girls on social media, further fuelling fan speculation that she might be the artist behind the No Time to Die theme song. The pop star posted a snapshot of Bond girls past and present to her Instagram story on Tuesday, starting with Léa Seydoux, who is reprising her Spectre role as psychologist Madeleine Swann in the 25th James Bond film. The initial post was followed by images of leading ladies from Casino Royale, Skyfall, Quantum of Solace, Die Another Day, Thunderball and From Russia With Love. [caption id="attachment_2286768" align="alignnone" width="700"](Image credit: Instagram/billieeilish) (Image credit: Instagram/billieeilish)[/caption] While no official confirmation has been given at this time, evidence that Eilish is singing the No Time to Die title track has been mounting over the past few days, as fans recently noticed that the singer and her brother/musical collaborator Finneas are both followed on Instagram by Cary Fukunaga, the director of the upcoming film, who only follows 81 people on the platform. If the rumours turn out to be true, Eilish would become the youngest artist to ever record a James Bond theme song at just 18 years of age, following in the footsteps of Sam Smith who was 23 years old when he recorded his Bond ballad, Writing's On The Wall, for Spectre in 2015. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/04/every-daniel-craig-bond-trailer"] In other music news, 007 producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli recently confirmed that Hans Zimmer will be stepping in to score James Bond's latest adventure just three months ahead of the British spy franchise's 25th theatrical release. No Time to Die: Hans Zimmer Confirmed As Composer For James Bond 25

007 producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have officially confirmed that Hans Zimmer will step in to score James Bond's latest adventure in the franchise's 25th film, No Time to Die. This news was announced via a post on the official 007 website, substantiating the rumours that the German-born composer had been hired to create the music for the next film just three months ahead of its theatrical release. This comes after original composer Dan Romer was reportedly dismissed over creative differences. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/04/no-time-to-die-official-trailer"] "It's a dream come true to be working with the legendary composer Hans Zimmer on our twenty-fifth James Bond film, No Time To Die," Wilson and Broccoli said in a statement. While director Cary Joji Fukunaga added, "I'm beyond excited that Hans is scoring No Time To Die. The music of Bond has always been iconic and I've already witnessed Hans adding his touch of genius to the Bond legacy." Over the course of his long-spanning career, Zimmer has composed and produced some of the best-known and most influential film scores of all time. His notable works include Disney's 1994 animated classic The Lion King, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score, The Pirates of the Carribean series, and The Dark Knight trilogy. This year, he is scoring Wonder Woman 1984, Dune and Top Gun: Maverick on top of No Time to Die. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=james-bond-no-time-to-die-character-posters&captions=true"] Hitting screens in April, No Time to Die will see Bond's peaceful retirement from active service interrupted when his CIA friend Felix Leiter tracks him down in Jamaica seeking help to rescue a kidnapped scientist. The mission sets Bond onto the "trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology." Fans already have plenty of theories about Bond 25's villain potentially being a rebooted version of Dr. No, so you might want to read more about Rami Malek's supervillain and scan the character posters for additional details. Or, for a broader round-up, take a look at our rundown of everything we know so far. Super Nintendo World Might Expand Beyond Mario in the Future

The Super Nintendo World theme park will open as a Mario-centric experience - but it might not always be that way, according to Universal Studio Japan.

Super Nintendo World will open its doors by July and, while attractions have yet to be revealed in detail, we know that iconic landmarks such as Mushroom Kingdom, Peach’s Castle, Bowser’s Castle and a Mario Kart course will be featured.

The newly released concept video “We Are Born to Play” (below) shows characters such as Yoshi, Goombas and Piranha Plants, and iconic objects ranging from Warp Pipes to Question Blocks, all of which point to a faithful interpretation of the Mario universe.

Kurumi Mori of Bloomberg reported on the Super Nintendo World presentation in Japan and provided more info on the park that is scheduled to open before the Summer Olympics, which begins on July 24, 2020.

But what about Nintendo’s other franchises? This is not Super Mario World but Super Nintendo World, after all. While there’s no doubt that Mario is Nintendo’s mascot character, the Japanese video game company is home to many popular franchises. Can we expect to see any attractions, shops or even restaurants themed after these franchises at Super Nintendo World?

“Not right away,” Universal Japan Studio’s marketing head Ayumu Yamamoto told IGN Japan. “We’re starting with a Mario centered area. However, we are thinking about expanding to Nintendo’s other IPs after opening.”

While Yamamoto did not make any promises, it does seem likely that we will be able to see Nintendo’s other franchises come to life at the theme park in the near future. A Star Fox themed shooting attraction? A souvenir shop run by Tom Nook? Or maybe some fresh ice-cream from Hyrule’s Lon Lon Ranch? What would you like to see?

Spencer took to Twitter to confirm that the Xbox team is "hard at work on E3" and that they "look forward to sharing with all who love to play what's ahead for us." Spencer With Sony opting for "hundreds" of other consumer events across the globe, this year's E3 could be Xbox's chance to prove that the Xbox Series X is the best choice for this holiday season. New Super Nintendo World Details Revealed WIth a Charli XCX Music Video

Nintendo fans will soon be able to live out their dreams as the Super Nintendo World theme park is opening at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan this summer. To celebrate, Galantis and Charli XCX have collaborated on a brand-new music video that gives fans a CGI look at this new world. Announced by Nintendo, the new video for We Are Born to Play doesn't show any actual footage of the much-anticipated theme park, but it does give fans an idea of what to expect, including that guests will have Disney MagicBand-like wrist bands that will allow them and their smartphones to interact with this "life-size, living video game." Kurumi Mori of Bloomberg reported on the Super Nintendo World presentation in Japan and provided more info on the park that is scheduled to open before the Summer Olympics, which begins on July 24, 2020. The presentation showed more of these "Power Up Bands," which include designs inspired by Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Mario, Toad, and Daisy. Also shown were images of the smartphone app that includes a map of the park and will allow guests to collect digital coins, compete with others, and earn achievements. Events Sony Can Bring PS5 To — Other Than E3

Sony has officially announced that it will not be attending E3 2020 (and not bringing its PlayStation 5, slotted for a fall 2020 released date) for the second year in a row. However, Sony has stated that it will be "participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe." What other events could these be? Let's take a look. Sony has attended the Taipei Game Show in the past and it will once again show off some of its newest titles from February 6 - 9. It has already announced most of what its showing, including Elden Ring, so it may be too soon for us to see anything PlayStation 5-related. PAX East takes place from February 27 - March 1 and Sony usually has a presence there. February could be a good time to have the PlayStation 5 reveal event as the PlayStation 4 was unveiled in February of 2013, and PAX East could be a good event to at least show video or even have a console behind glass for the world to see. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/01/13/playstation-will-not-be-at-e3-2020-ign-now"] PAX West usually runs near the end of August and, like PAX East, Sony has continued to show up to the Seattle event. The Tokyo Game Show has always been a big event for Sony, and with it being held from September 24 - 27, it may potentially be a good spot to market to the Japanese audience before its Holiday release date. Paris Games Week is another event Sony has a big history with. This year's event is from October 23 - 27 and could also a good time to show off the PlayStation 5 before it's released to the world. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=igns-top-25-playstation-4-games&captions=true"] Now, Sony did mention "hundreds" of consumer events, so this could mean Sony is planning to host events itself throughout the year. Could we see the return of PlayStation Experience, which hasn't seen a show since 2017? Will they take PlayStation buses or host other pop-up events in cities around the world? Only time will tell. One thing is clear, Sony has a plan for PlayStation 5 and it doesn't include E3, a show that was once the centerpiece of the year for all video games. For more on PlayStation 5, check out its official logo, see our list of all confirmed PS5 games, and see our comparison of PlayStation 5 vs. Xbox Series X.
