Detroit: Become Human Studio Will Have ‘A Lot of Surprises’ in 2020

David Cage says his studio Quantic Dream will have “lots of surprises” for fans in 2020.

Cage is the founder of Quantic Dream, and is the lead writer and director of games including Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human.

His message for fans came in a tweet:

Could it be a new game announcement? Given Quantic Dreams’ long-running relationship with Sony it could be that the studio is working on a next-gen title for the PlayStation 5.

That said, the latest release from Quantic Dream was the enhanced PC version of 2018’s Detroit: Become Human. It’s been available on the Epic Games store since December 12, 2019.

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/05/24/detroit-become-human-review"]

Quantic Dreams also brought its previous games Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls to PC through the Epic Games store in 2019. Before that, all three of those games were exclusive to PlayStation consoles.

As the studio started to branch out to other platforms it could be that the surprises Quantic Dream has in 2020 include bringing those games to more platforms. Or it could perhaps be gearing up to have its first big multiplatform game launch in 15 years.

Whatever Quantic Dream has in store, it should be worth waiting for, especially as our Detroit: Become Human review gave it an 8. Hopefully Quantic Dream will have an announcement that forces us to update our list of potential PS5 launch games when the console comes out in holiday 2020.

Photo credit: WWE[/caption] Johnson began his wrestling career in 1964 as part of the National Wrestling Alliance, joined the WWF (now WWE) in 1982, and retired in 1991. After retiring, he trained his son Dwayne to be a wrestler. Dwayne’s wrestling name was originally “Rocky Mavia,” which was a combination of his father’s name (Rocky Johnson) and his grandfather’s name (Peter Maivia). Eventually he changed it to “The Rock,” a name that now endures as a tribute to his family’s wrestling heritage. Many in the wrestling community have taken to social media to express their condolences and remember Johnson as a wrestling icon. “I am so sorry to hear of the passing of the great Rocky Johnson. Always a gentleman, I always enjoyed talking with him. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the fans who loved him. HBO announced Wednesday that it has greenlit a three-part animated series titled Aquaman: King of Atlantis for HBO Max. James Wan, the director of the 2018 live-action Aquaman film, will executive produce via his Atomic Monster production company. The announcement was made at the WarnerMedia Television Critics Association (TCA) day. HBO Max's announcement makes no mention of whether Jason Momoa or any other cast members of the DC live-action film will lend their voices to the show or if it is even tied to it beyond being about Aquaman and Wan being involved. The official synopsis follows:
"Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the series begins with Aquaman’s first day on the job as king of Atlantis and he’s got a LOT of catching up to do. Luckily, he has his two royal advisors to back him up – Vulko, the scholar, and Mera, the water controlling warrior-princess. Between dealing with unscrupulous surface dwellers, elder evils from beyond time and his own half-brother who wants to overthrow him, Aquaman is going to have to rise to the challenge and prove to his subjects, and to himself, that he’s the right man for the trident!"
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/03/13/aquaman-creating-undersea-creatures-exclusive-featurette"] “This DC property is a fan-favorite rich with well-known characters and dynamic storylines,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max. “On the heels of Warner Bros. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=everything-coming-to-hbo-max&captions=true"] Along with Wan, Aquaman: King of Atlantis is executive produced by Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear (Annabelle Comes Home), Rob Hackett (Swamp Thing) and Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!). Victor Courtright (ThunderCats Roar!) and Marly Halpern-Graser (Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) will serve as showrunners and co-executive producers.

Snowpiercer TV Series Finally Gets a Release Date

TNT has announced the release date for its upcoming sci-fi thriller, Snowpiercer. The series will premiere on Sunday, May 31, 2020. The announcement was made at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour. Here's how TNT describes the series. "Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, Snowpiercer centers on the remnants of humanity who inhabit a perpetually moving train, with 1001 cars, that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out in this riveting television adaptation." TNT also unveiled a new poster featuring stars Daveed Diggs as Andre Layton and Jennifer Connelly as Melanie Cavill, which you can check out in the gallery below: [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=snowpiercer-the-series-images&captions=true"] This particular version of Snowpiercer, which has already been renewed for a second season, is based on the 2013 film and the graphic novel of the same name. The series has been in development for nearly five years and when asked about the show's lengthy production, Diggs jokingly said, "It takes a long time to make good s**t." Rounding out the cast are Emmy-nominee Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, and Tony Award-winner and Grammy-nominee Lena Hall. For more Snowpiercer, check out these posters drawn by popular artists, and a sneak-peek clip that we saw at New York Comic Con back in 2019. Fortnite: Where to Search the Hidden Gnome in the Rippley vs. Sludge Challenges

Fortnite players were treated to two new challenge sets on Wednesday morning, coming a day earlier than normal. One of the Rippley vs. Sludge challenges will task players with finding the hidden gnome between Logjam Woodworks, a wooden shack, and a bucket tree. As you’ve probably figured out by now, these kind of challenges aren’t too hard, as long as you know where to look. To save you some time, we’ve got the exact Fortnite hidden gnome location.

Where to Search the Hidden Gnome in Fortnite

As the clue states, players will be able to find the Fortnite hidden gnome between Logjam Woodworks, a wooden shack, and a bucket tree. This clue is pretty vague, and doesn’t really do a lot of good because these three locations can be hard to find. Further, tracking down the secret location between them can seem next to impossible. Thankfully, we've done the work for you. Players will be able to search the hidden Fortnite gnome northwest of Slurpy Swamp, in the wooded area, as seen on the map below. Fortnite Hidden Gnome Rippley vs. Sludge Map Simply visit the marked location above, and you’ll find the hidden gnome resting under a tree along the edge of the water. Fortnite Hidden Gnome Rippley vs. Sludge Once you’ve found it, simply walk up to it and follow the on screen command. After you do that, you’ll have completed this Rippley vs. Sludge challenge. For more help with this challenge set, be sure to visit our Fortnite wiki page or our list of Weekly Challenges. Also, be sure to check out how to earn Gold Scavenger Medals and where to find Slurp trucks, barrels, and silos. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Andrew Smith is a freelance contributor with IGN. Green Lantern HBO Max Live-Action Series Will Feature Sinestro

The upcoming live-action Green Lantern series from Greg Berlanti will feature iconic villain Sinestro, according to Sarah Aubrey, Head of Content for HBO Max. The announcement was made at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour when Aubrey informed reporters of Berlanti's progress on the series. "The series, so far, is going to span several decades, and focus on the origin story of two major Green Lanterns on Earth while linking it to the story in space, a Green Lantern-favorite character, Sinestro." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=dc-extended-universe-every-upcoming-movie&captions=true"] While no official casting news was revealed during the panel, we can theorize which Green Lantern characters will be used in the show. The two most obvious choices would be Hal Jordan and John Stewart, arguably the most popular Earth Green Lanterns, who have plenty of shared history together to mine for a television series. But if they want to go for something a little different, they could feature rookie GLC recruits Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz, who recently starred in a buddy cop comic series titled Green Lanterns. (Cruz was recently featured in the animated movie Justice League vs. the Fatal Five.) They would make for excellent gateway characters into the Green Lantern mythos. The Green Lantern series was first announced back in October 2019 at WarnerMedia's HBO Max presentation. Berlanti, who is best known for creating the CW's Arrowverse, called the GL series "our biggest DC show ever made" in a statement. No release date was announced at the panel. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/10/30/green-lantern-tv-show-coming-to-hbo-max-ign-now"] What do you think of Sinestro being featured in the GL series? Let us know in the comments. How to Earn Gold Scavenger Medals in Fortnite

The Fortnite Rippley vs. Sludge challenges are live, and one of the first tasks will be to earn Gold Scavenger Medals by searching chests, llamas, or supply drops. While the task itself may be simple, understanding the criteria can be a little confusing. These challenges went live a day earlier than normal, as part of the v11.40 update which added Sidearming into the game. Additionally, Epic also announced the new Icon Skin Series, which added a Ninja skin into Fortnite.

How to Earn Gold Scavenger Medals in Fortnite

Thankfully, this challenge will actually be rather simple. To earn a Gold Scavenger Medal in Fortnite, you’ll need to search 12 chests, llamas, or supply drops within a single game. Unfortunately, anything less will only earn players a silver or bronze medal. To complete this specific challenge, you'll need to do that three times. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-most-addictive-online-games&captions=true"] There are a handful of different locations you could visit to earn a Fortnite Gold Medal, but there are a few that stand out among the rest. To start, we would suggest visiting one of the Named Locations that are located far from the path of the Battle Bus. Once you've cleared out that area, work your way around the outskirts of the storm circle — if you head too far inside the circle, you're bound to meet some competition. If you follow this strategy, it will decrease your chance of getting killed while searching for chests, as well as meeting other players along the way. Further, you could also try to complete this Rippley vs. Sludge challenge in Team Rumble. Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 1 is currently set to end sometime in February, in the meantime, be sure to check out our Fortnite wiki page and our other Weekly Challenge guides. Further, you can also check out where to find the hidden gnome in the Rippley vs. Sludge challenges as well as where to destroy slurp trucks, barrels, and silos. Game of Thrones Prequel House of the Dragon Will Likely Premiere in 2022

House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel series focused on the Targaryen dynasty, will likely premiere in 2022, according to HBO boss Casey Bloys. According to Variety, Bloys said “his best guess” is that House of the Dragon's release date will be sometime in 2022. Check out our explainer on when House of the Dragon takes place and some of the events we might see in the prequel. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/10/30/game-of-thrones-prequel-series-house-of-the-dragon-coming-to-hbo"] House of the Dragon was given a straight-to-series order back in October. The new show is co-created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal who will serve as co-showrunners, and counts Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik as an executive producer. Sapochnik is expected to direct the pilot and several other episodes in the show's freshman season. The series will air on both HBO and WarnerMedia's upcoming streaming service HBO Max. Bloys also gave Variety some insight into why HBO's other Game of Thrones spinoff from Jane Goldman (which was unofficially being referred to as "The Longest Night") ultimately didn't get picked up to series after a high-profile pilot starring Naomi Watts was filmed. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=game-of-thrones-every-major-characters-first-and-last-appearance&captions=true"] “Pilots – sometimes they come together, sometimes they don’t,” said Bloys. “And I would say that was very much the case here. There’s nothing I would point to and say ‘Oh, this was the problem.’” Bloys also noted that one of the hurdles for the Goldman project was the fact that it wasn't based on any existing source material. “That [prequel] was 8,000 years before the current show, so it required a lot more invention,” he said. “One of the benefits of ‘House of the Dragon’ is there was a text from George and there was a little bit more of a roadmap. [Goldman’s prequel] did have more challenges in terms of establishing a world, but I think she handled that beautifully… there wasn’t one glaring thing.” House of the Dragon is based on "Fire and Blood," Martin's history of the Targaryen family, published in 2018. Below, watch IGN's exclusive interview with Martin and Condal from 2016, in which the two talked at length about their sci-fi and fantasy passions and their friendship. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has officially crossed $1 billion at the global box office as of Tuesday, January 14, 2020. As reported by Variety, The Rise of Skywalker earned $481 million at the domestic box office and garnered an additional $519 million internationally for a grand total of $1.001 billion. Episode IX was released in theaters on December 20, 2019, and it took the last film of the Skywalker Saga 28 days to achieve this milestone, which is actually longer than both The Force Awakens' 12 days and The Last Jedi's 19 days. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=46-movies-that-made-1-billion-at-the-box-office&captions=true"] Box office ticket sales for this newest trilogy have steadily declined since 2015's The Force Awakens brought in $936 million domestically and $1.1 billion internationally. 2017's The Last Jedi earned $620 million domestically and $712 million abroad. Even though The Rise of Skywalker didn't surpass its predecessors, it did help Disney cap off an incredible year that saw them releasing seven films that surpassed $1 billion worldwide. These successes and more helped lead the House of Mouse to $3.76 billion domestically, $7.35 billion internationally, and a whopping $11.12 billion worldwide. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was the ninth film in 2019 to cross the $1 billion mark and is the 46th film of all time to join the billionaires club.
