Netflix Reportedly Lost Over 1 Million Subscribers to Disney Plus, But Will Grow in 2019

The arrival of Disney+ reportedly had an effect on Netflix's subscriber base, but not enough to stop the company's overall growth in the end of 2019.

According to Cowen & Co. analyst John Blackledge in a report by THR, Netflix lost over one million subscribers to Disney+. However, despite Netflix's expected loss, Blackledge still notes that Netflix is expected to hit its fourth-quarter forecast of 7.6 million new subscribers.

Modern Warfare Is the Most-Played Call of Duty Launch This Gen

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the series' most-played game at launch (first 50 days) during the PlayStation 4-Xbox One generation, Activision announced on Wednesday.

When comparing 50-day launch windows, Modern Warfare has seen more hours played (500 million), hours per player, and average daily players than any other Call of Duty "in six years," according to Activision. In terms of these metrics, Modern Warfare has topped the launches of Black Ops 4, WW2, Infinite Warfare, Black Ops 3, Advanced Warfare, and the current-gen versions of Ghosts.

Activision also notes Modern Warfare has sold through more than $1 billion USD worth of copies since its release on October 25. It was the top-selling game in the U.S. for the months of October and November, according to NPD.

Puma Announces ‘Gamer Socks’

Puma, purveyor of all sorts of sporting goods and clothing, is finally cracking into the most physically taxing activity of all: Video gaming.

Puma has announced a new line of gaming socks, or “Active Gaming Footwear,” designed to maximize your comfort and style on those 10-hour raids or your 40th battle royale loss of the day, as first reported by PC Gamer. One pair will you run you £80 in the UK and $160 in Australia, and it doesn’t look like Puma has made any official announcement about the product his U.S. shores. The UK and AU price suggests something in the ballpark of $100 USD or a little higher.

Emma Watson Posts Harry Potter Reunion Picture

Harry Potter series stars Emma Watson and Tom Felton have posted a picture of a small cast reunion.

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter himself) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasely) are absent, but at least Neville Longbottom showed up. From left to right, there's Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Bonnie Wright (Ginnie Weasley) and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom).

Emma Watson's black and white picture on Instagram has over 1.9 million likes as of this writing.  Felton's Instagram pic has over 906,000 likes but it's in color.

The Best Cheap Board Games

When you can play so many great games with a deck of playing cards, or even a pen and paper, it's tempting to seek out good value in your gaming purchases. Thankfully, games that offer lots of playtime for very little money are enjoying a renaissance right now, so there's plenty to pick from.

Most of these budget titles are card games. But if you can stretch a bit higher, it's amazing how much sculpted plastic and great art you can buy in a board game for relatively little price. More and more big publishers are getting on the hobby game train, and that means better and better value for board gamers.

Star Wars 27-Disc 4K Blu-ray Set Spotted on Best Buy, Costs $330

A 27-disc 4K Blu-ray box set of the nine Star Wars movies appears to be on the way.

This hasn't been officially announced by Disney, but is currently shown on Best Buy Canada. The set goes for $329.99 and is not available on the American Best Buy online store at this time. The Best Buy website previously showed release date for Tuesday, March 31, 2020, but that release date has since been removed.

The movies appear to come in a massive book as opposed to a traditional Blu-ray case or steelbook. The promotional image is open to a page with art for Return of the Jedi.

Star Wars: The Meaning of the Ren Name Revealed

Because the new Star Wars trilogy skips over more than 30 years of the Star Wars timeline, there's still a lot we don't know about Ben Solo's transformation into Kylo Ren and his connection to the Knights of Ren. That's where Marvel's newest Star Wars comic comes in. Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren sets about chronicling that story, and already the series is revealing important new details about the Knights of Ren.

The series opens with a flashback sequence featuring the Knights of Ren. Here we learn the group was once led by a man named Ren, a lightsaber-wielding, heavily scarred warrior with an affinity for the Dark Side. Ren reveals that his name is both a title he bestowed on himself and a philosophy that prizes the wanton destruction of all things, good or evil. The Knights of Ren are so named because they all follow that philosophy and sow chaos across the galaxy.
