Director Jordan Peele has proven that he’s not a one-hit-wonder with Us, a truly terrifying, poignant look at one American family that goes through hell at the hands of maniacal doppelgangers. The strangeness of the narrative stays grounded with excellent character development, especially with Lupita Nyong’o’s Adelaide. The impactful use of music and dazzling cinematography elevates Us above your average horror-thriller, and Peele has created another marvelous new American horror story.

Director Olivia Wilde thoughtfully brought together a cast and crew full of impeccably talented women to make a teen comedy that overachiever girls could truly call their own. The script is snappy, outrageous, and full of heart, giving depth to stock characters often marginalized and mocked. And it does all this while thoughtfully exploring the pressures and pitfalls of the unique hell of being a teen girl.

IGN's Best Animated Movie category celebrates the artistry of making the unreal real. Yes, this is what all filmed entertainment does on some level, but animation truly allows filmmakers to unleash their imaginations in a way that "live action" films can't quite realize. Once audiences accept that what they're watching is "a cartoon," the sky's the limit, and these films all aimed for that limit -- and beyond.

How Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker Handles The Legacy of the Jedi
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is not only the conclusion of Disney's new trilogy, but also designed to be a culmination of the entire franchise in much the same way that Avengers: Endgame capped off a decade of Marvel storytelling - there will undoubtedly be more Star Wars stories, but the Skywalker Saga is officially at an end.
In that tradition, it did something very cool, unifying all the stories that came before in a clever way.
