Spider-Man: Far From Home Breaks Record with $288M Promo Campaign
Spoilers ahead for Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Spider-Man: Far From Home dominated the weekend box office with over $93.6 million in ticket sales, and some of that may be thanks to its record-breaking promotional campaign.
According to Deadline, the film had a $288 million promotional media campaign, the largest in history. (The studio behind the film is Sony Pictures, though the movie is part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.)
Turok Returns as a 2D Chibi-Style Game
Dinosaur hunter Turok returns to gaming for the first time in over ten years with Turok: Escape from Lost Valley, a 2D Chibi-like game.
Unlike the N64 original games and the 2008 reboot, which were pretty intense FPS games, Turok: Escape from Lost Valley is a cute isometric shooter with a focus on mastering Turok’s knife and bow, rather than a collection of grisly weapons. Sorry, looks like you won’t be getting your hands on the Cerebral Bore in this one.
Travelling with your friend Andar, as Turok you’ll need to find you way through the dinosaur-infested Lost Valley and find your way home. Along the way you’ll help natives and fight bosses with such fun names as ‘Killer Honker’, ‘Giant Bear’, and ‘Long Neck Water Honker’.
The Cuphead Show! Coming to Netflix
Cuphead is coming to Netflix. In a joint announcement from Netflix, King Features, and Cuphead developer Studio MDHR, the smash-hit 2017 bullet-hell, boss-rush side-scrolling shooter starring Cuphead and his blue-accented partner Mugman is getting an animated series on the world’s biggest streaming network. The series will be called The Cuphead Show!
Like the game, the Netflix's The Cuphead Show! will feature 1930’s-style animation. It will also be hand-drawn, though not entirely to paper this time, and not by Studio MDHR themselves but instead by Netflix’s own in-house animation studio. “We are not going to be animating this
because it would never be finished,” Cuphead co-creator Chad Moldenhauer told IGN with a laugh during a phone interview. “The current goal is to stay as far away from
Why Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s Hero Is a Human
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order features a human hero because developer Respawn was concerned that an alien protagonist would “alienate” players.
Talking to Game Informer, game director Stig Asmussen said that early in development the team had discussed the idea of having an alien creature be the player character, but eventually decided against it.
“Ultimately we didn't go with an alien race because we felt like—no pun intended—that would alienate a lot of people," Asmussen said.
"We wanted to make sure that there was a real human connection to the character that we have in the game, although I personally—I mean, that's more kind of like

Netflix Anime 2019: Cannon Busters Sets Premiere Date
Netflix has steadily been increasing its anime lineup over the past few years, investing in high-profile shows based on existing properties like Altered Carbon, Pacific Rim, and Ghost in the Shell; beloved manga like Kengan Ashura and Saint Seiya; and original concepts like the upcoming Gods & Heroes and Yasuke, starring Chadwick Boseman.
Netflix’s Stranger Things 3 Sets 4-Day Viewing Record
Netflix announced that, after four days of streaming service data, Stranger Things: Season 3 has been watched by 40.7 million "household accounts," while 18.2 million of them have already finished the entire new season.
Netflix confirmed the data on its Twitter account, indicating the 40.7 million accounts watching since the show's July 4 debut is a higher number than any other film or series in its first four days on the service.
It's worth noting that Netflix used the phrase "household accounts" to explain Stranger Things' success, which is different from its use of just the word "account" in announcements for past Netflix ratings successes like Sex Education or the word "members" for those who watched Season 1 of You. It's unclear if the change in wording denotes different measurements for each series or simply Netflix using similar phrasing to mean the same thing.
The Top-Selling 3rd Party Console Games of the Last 20 Years
If you guessed GTA V and any of several Call of Duty's would dominate the lists of top-selling third-party games of all time, you'd be right. But how do they all stack up to one another, across all platforms through over 20 years?

Piscatella also provided IGN with data for the top 10 third-party games (through May 2019) on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as across all platforms. Ranking of the best-selling games for each platform is based on total dollar sales.

Terry Crews Petitions Himself to Be King Triton in Disney’s The Little Mermaid
The internet has been abuzz ever since Disney announced the star of its upcoming live-action adaptation for The Little Mermaid. But while the role of Ariel has gone to actress and musician Halle Bailey, another actor is publicly petitioning Disney to get the role of King Triton, Ariel’s dad.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Terry Crews, the former NFL player turned actor and TV host, is publicly offering himself for the role of King Triton on his Twitter account. Fans seem to like this idea and are joining Crews in petitioning Disney to cast the actor for the role of Ariel’s father.
