Why the World Needs a Nintendo Switch Pro
Update: With this morning's reveal of the new Nintendo Switch hardware update, I updated this article to reflect the fact we now know for certain there is no Nintendo Switch Pro coming this year, but we still need one sooner rather than later.
The rumors were true all along, and Nintendo Switch Lite is a real thing: a smaller, cheaper version of the Nintendo console we all hold dear. It's perfectly timed and designed to coincide with Pokemon Shield and Sword, along with the rest of the Nintendo Switch games destined to dominate the hearts and minds of holiday shoppers.
The Nintendo Switch Lite Is Inferior, but I’m Going to Buy It Anyway
I’m going to buy the Switch Lite. It was as easy as Nintendo announcing that the new version of the system is “dedicated to handheld play” to get me on board. I’ve had a Switch since day 1, so this sudden excitement for another may seem a little silly, but I’ve got some good reasons… or at least good enough for me.
I've always been a Nintendo handheld kind of person. While I've had just about every Nintendo home console since the N64 – sorry Wii U – I’m still just as invested in Nintendo’s handheld offerings. The only major Nintendo handhelds I’ve missed at this point are the original Game Boy, the Game Boy Advance SP, and the DS Lite, so you can say I’m pretty committed to them. Even with the Switch’s release, I still play my special edition Pikachu 2DS XL from time to time to revisit games and get that true handheld experience. The Nintendo Switch Lite has an important spot in my game rotation too.
New Flintstones Animated Adult Comedy Series in the Works
The Flintstones are getting a reboot.
Warner Bros., the studio that owns the rights to the classic cartoon, is developing an animated adult comedy series based on characters from the show, according to The Wrap.
Brownstone Productions, the production company of actor-director Elizabeth Banks, is developing the new project, which is still in early stages.
Warner Bros. did not announce the network that will air the show, but its parent company, AT&T, revealed this week that its new streaming service will be called HBO Max and is set to launch next spring.
Exclusive Trailer: Jason Mewes Tries to Escape Jay and Silent Bob Role in Directing Debut
Jay and Silent Bob's Jason Mewes makes his feature film directorial debut Madness in the Method, a meta and personal exploration of the actor's career, his partnership with Kevin Smith and Hollywood's weird landscape as a whole.
You can watch our exclusive trailer for the film in either the player above or embedded below. We also have the exclusive poster for the film below.
Madness in the Method also marks the final movie for the late Marvel Comics icon Stan Lee, who makes his last cameo in the film as -- surprise! -- himself.
The movie also stars Kevin Smith, Danny Trejo (as a campy version of himself), Gina Carano, Jaime Camil, Vinnie Jones, Teri Hatcher, Brian O’Halloran, Dean Cain, Blake Harrison, Casper Van Dien, Judd Nelson and David Dastmalchian.
Halo Co-Creator’s Studio Announces Disintegration
A new game from the co-creator of the Halo series has been announced.
Earlier today, V1 Interactive - a new studio led by Halo co-creator and former Creative Director at Bungie Marcus Lehto - announced Disintegration, a "sci-fi, first-person shooter." No other information about the game itself was shared, though a "full unveiling" will take place later this summer at GamesCom 2019.
"The opportunity to create not only a new game, but this entire studio has been exhilarating,” said Lehto. The team at V1 is comprised of game development veterans, including designers and artists from games like Skyrim, Destiny, Halo, EVE Online, Shadow of Mordor, and more. “It is great to be able to share what this amazing team has been working on, and we can’t wait to introduce this new game that our team is building to the world next month."
Red Power Ranger Actor Reveals What Jason Would Be Doing Now
Austin St. John, the first red Power Ranger actor, was asked what the character would be up to today.
The original Red Ranger told Underground Nation that Jason would be in a much more unassuming position compared to the old days.
"I would see him in a very quiet behind the scenes leadership role," St. John said via ScreenRant. "I would see him in an elite special operations unit, behind the scenes, where nobody knew he existed, running things quietly, in command of his operations unit, letting all of the flashy guys have the front line, letting all of the known special operations unit with all the blame, be in the front, letting them have all the news and the media. And he would quietly, with his elite team, be out doing the real work, every day, and never needing credit for it."
Sherlock Holmes 3 Hires Rocketman Director
Dexter Fletcher, the director of the Elton John biopic Rocketman, has signed on to direct the next Sherlock Holmes movie starring Robert Downey Jr.
Variety is reporting that Fletcher has been tapped to helm the third Sherlock Holmes mystery. Fletcher will take the reins from director Guy Ritchie, who directed the first two Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes films: 2009’s Sherlock Holmes and 2011’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
