Jordan Peele Reportedly in Talks for a Candyman Remake

It looks like the 1992 slasher film Candyman might be getting a remake, and Get Out’s Jordan Peele is reportedly in talks to produce the project.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, Peele is currently in talks to produce the film through Monkeypaw Productions, which previously helped produce Get Out, BlacKkKlansman, Key and Peele and more. It is curently unlcear if Peele plans to simply produce the film, or if he will also serve as director.

While these reports should be taken with a grain of salt, the film does seem to be in Peele’s wheelhouse. The original Candyman, based off of Clive Barker’s short story The Forbidden, involves an urban legend, where if anyone looks in a mirror and says “Candyman” five times, he will appear and kill the speaker. The original film took place in Chicago, and the antagonist was an artist and the son of a slave whose painting hand was cut off and replaced with a hook - he was later covered in honey and stung to death by bees.

How Insomniac’s Spider-Man Came to Be

While PlayStation 4 owners around the world celebrate the release of Marvel's Spider-Man, Insomniac's open-world game could have just as easily featured another Marvel character.

In this month's episode of IGN Unfiltered, Ryan McCaffrey sat down with Insomniac CEO Ted Price to discuss how the team got the opportunity to make a game featuring everyone's favorite wall-crawler. Be sure to check out the preview clip above, in which Price talks about the studio's decision-making process.

"Connie Booth, who is a great friend, and also one of our partners at Sony, was down at Insomniac," Price said, "and she said to me, one day, 'What would you think about working on a Marvel game?'" Price said his immediate reaction was "fairly neutral" and, as the studio had built a following on the back of original properties, he "hadn't really considered working on someone else's IP."

Spider-Man Is the Fastest-Selling Game of the Year in the UK

Insomniac's Spider-Man has swung its way to the top of the UK sales charts. Not only was Spider-Man the best-selling game of last week – despite only being out for two days – but it's the fastest-selling game of the year in the UK, reports GamesIndustry.biz.

Far Cry 5 previously held the distinction of being 2018's fastest-selling game, making Spider-Man's accomplishment all the more impressive considering Far Cry 5 launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Spider-Man is a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and it blew away the year's previous best-selling exclusive, the PlayStation 4's God of War, by nearly twice as many units sold.

Déraciné, the Hidetaka Miyazaki-directed VR game from From Software and Sony Japan Studio, will be released in the west on November 6.

Placing you in the role of a time-stopping faerie, and having you solve puzzles along the hallways and classrooms of a Victorian-like boarding school, it's something of a departure in tone for the Dark Souls mastermind.

The game is now available for pre-order, and doing so will get you a PS4 Dynamic theme and six avatars for your PSN profile.

We played a slice of the game at E3, and called it "a beautiful and cryptic experience".
