Red Dead Redemption 2: 13 of Your Biggest Questions, Answered
Recently we got to play a couple hours of Red Dead Redemption 2. Afterwards, we took to Twitter and asked you for your most burning questions, with an eye towards answering some of the best ones. Let's get started!
Dean Thompson 62 (@62Thompson) asks: Will the campaign be offline?
Yes! Red Dead Online is totally separate and will be released later.
Lolable (@LolableComics) asks: Can you pet dogs?
Also a big yes! You can interact with them, but sadly you can't have one as your own pet.
Nic Shannon (@Nicshannon21) asks: How long would it take to go from one edge of the map to the opposite edge?
Telltale Confirms ‘Majority Studio Closure’ and Layoffs, Fate of Future Projects in Limbo
UPDATE (4:37PM): USgamer reports the remaining 25 employees at Telltale will not, in fact, be working to complete The Walking Dead's final season. Instead, sources tell the site, the team will work on Minecraft: Story Mode for Netflix.
According to USgamer's Matt Kim on Twitter, The Walking Dead: The Final Season will conclude after the release of Episode 2 next week.
Monster Hunter Movie Will Have ‘Bloody Big Monsters,’ Says Director
Back in May, we learned that Capcom's popular RPG, Monster Hunter, will be making its big screen debut with Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich cast in the leading role. Also attached to the project is Jovovich's husband, Paul W.S. Anderson (Event Horizon), who will direct the live-action adaptation.
While speaking with Anderson about his upcoming YouTube original sci-fi horror series, Origin, the director shed some light on the Monster Hunter film and what we can expect to see when it hits theaters. “There are some bloody big monsters in it, I can tell you that, Anderson said, adding, "we have some very very big monsters.”
Marvel’s The Eternals Lands Director
It looks like the upcoming Marvel film The Eternals has found its director in Chloé Zhao.
This news comes from Variety, which reports that Zhao’s meeting with executives at Marvel impressed them so much that they acted quickly to book her as director before she became tied up in other films. Zhao is known for directing The Rider, a critically acclaimed western drama that won the Art Cinema Award at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for four Spirit Awards.
Reports show that cousins Matthew and Ryan Firpo are writing the script and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is on board to produce. Created by Jack Kirby, The Eternals are an ancient race created by the cosmic Celestials who performed genetic experiments on early humans, effectively creating the first super-humans. This also created evil counterparts known as Deviants.
5 Games to Play After Spider-Man PS4
With Marvel's Spider-Man's initial release now a couple weeks behind us, it's very possible you've already beaten and even platinumed Insomniac Games superhero adventure.
So, if you've already completed Peter Parker's PS4 outing, the cast of IGN's Beyond!, our weekly PlayStation show, dove into the topic of what to play next. Yes, they cover the obvious if you're looking for more superhero games and haven't picked up the Batman: Arkham franchise. But, beyond (Beyond!) that, the cast dives into some other games that capture similar gameplay, tone, and offer a history lesson on Insomniac Games' pre-Spider-Man work.
If you have finished Marvel's Spider-Man, be sure to check out IGN's Spider-Man spoilercast with the game's creative director, Bryan Intihar, and dive into the latest episode of Beyond to watch the cast speculate about whether Insomniac is already teasing its next game.
Child’s Play Reboot: First Look at the New Chucky
More detail on the upcoming Child’s Play reboot have been revealed, alongside the first image of the horror film’s killer doll.
The upcoming film, simply titled Child’s Play, seems to follow a plot similar to the 1988 original. In the reboot, a mother named Karen (played by Aubrey Plaza) gives her son Andy (played by Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll, though both aren’t aware of its evil nature.
The film also stars Atlanta's Brian Tyree Henry as Mike, and though this character’s full name hasn’t been revealed, Detective Mike Norris was the name of the homicide police detective attached to solving the mysterious murders committed by Chucky in the original Child’s Play. Karen and Andy were also the names of the mother and son used in the first film.
What Happens To Blackout When the Next Call of Duty Comes Out?
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 isn’t out yet, but the next Call of Duty after it is only 13 months away.
That’s not based on any industry leaks or insider info, it’s just an assumption that’s about as safe to make as “the sun will rise tomorrow.” It’s also a thought that was hanging over my head like a raincloud while I played the PC beta of the Blackout battle royale mode this past weekend.
I seriously enjoyed Blackout, far more than I expected to. It’s one of the most refined battle royales I’ve played, rooted squarely in Call of Duty’s FPS core instead of the survival games Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds finds its lineage in. You can check out our more detailed impressions from the beta here, and while I had a ton of fun during it, I have my doubts about whether or not being ‘fun’ will be enough.
PlayStation on If More Games Will Be Added to PS Classic Post-Launch
With the PlayStation Classic's reveal earlier this week came the confirmation of five of the 20 games to be included in the nostalgic console, as well as what players would be getting for the $99.99 price point.
Still, some questions lingered about functionality for the system, and how it might differ from what we've seen in Nintendo's NES and SNES Classic mini consoles. Speaking to IGN via email, a PlayStation spokesperson confirmed that, similarly to those consoles, the initial launch lineup will be the full catalogue for the PlayStation Classic.
"There are no plans to bring new content to PlayStation Classic post-launch," a PlayStation spokesperson said.
Joker: Joaquin Phoenix Makeup Revealed
Not long after seeing the first images of Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker without makeup, fans are getting a glimpse of what his proper Clown Prince of Crime will look like.
Revealed on director Todd Phillips’ Instagram, the "Camera test (w/ sound)” video shows off images of a Joker with makeup on superimposed onto the face of a barefaced Phoenix - but it ends with a few seconds of showing the full shot in makeup. Warner Bros. Pictures also tweeted out the short video.

Destiny 2’s New Breakthrough Mode Gets a Release Date, New Maps Detailed
Destiny 2's new Crucible mode, Breakthrough, will be released on Sept. 25, Bungie has revealed. Breakthrough will be available to all players, and Crucible will get some brand new maps designed to "complement" the mode.
Players will fight for control of a central zone at the start of each Breakthrough round. The team to capture the zone will then deploy something called the Breaker, which is used to assault and hack the other team's Vault. But that other team will be able to contest control of the zone while the team on the offensive is working to deploy the Breaker. Bungie is hoping this will result in battles that feel like they're a "tug-of-war."
