IGN Beyond Episode 555: Don’t Expect We Happy Few to Be Like BioShock
BEYOND!
This week on IGN's PlayStation show Beyond, host Jonathon Dornbush is joined at first by Brian Altano, Max Scoville, and Brendan Graeber to discuss Brendan's We Happy Few review, how the early comparisons to BioShock don't necessarily hold up, and the joys and downers of Compulsion Games' latest.
Later, the crew is joined by Cassidee Moser to discuss her review of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 1, as well as whether the age of episodic gaming is over. The crew also answers your questions, and tries to do that while eating spicy cookies...it does not go well for me.

Why The Purge Might Make a Better TV Show Than a Movie
The dystopian nightmare of The Purge has finally become a TV series - premiering September 4 on USA with a 10-episode first season.
So what could there still be to explore within the world of The Purge, the warped, alternate-reality American "holiday" we've now seen over the course of four movies, from beginning (in The First Purge) to the ostensible end (in The Purge: Election Year)? Well, for starters, the series, at 10 hours total, is longer than all four movies combined and aims to focus more on characters, giving the entire franchise a chance to present fans with a different, more complex story.
I visited the New Orleans set of the new Purge series this past summer to chat with showrunner Tom Kelly, along with the on-hand cast, about how this new show deepens the mythology of the saga while presenting viewers with a chance to really empathize with - or at least understand - the sprawling ensemble of Purge participators.
Extermination Takes a Heavy Toll on the X-Men
Marvel kicked off its latest X-Men event this week, and things are already looking pretty bleak for our heroes.
Warning: this article contains spoilers for Extermination #1!
The original teenage X-Men have been trapped in the present-day Marvel Universe ever since 2012's All-New X-Men #1. Extermination appears to be the story where they finally go back to their own timeline. Though if this first issue is any indication, they may not survive long enough to make the trip home. The emergence of old and new foes has resulted in the deaths of two X-Men and the capture of a third.
How the Best Monster Hunter World Players Trained for the USA Championship
For the first time ever, Capcom held an official, standalone Monster Hunter tournament stateside on July 28, 2018 in San Francisco. At stake was a trip to Japan to represent the US in a worldwide championship, and when the dust settled Social Dissonance walked away with the honor. But the journey was as much a part of the story as the destination, and we talked to some of the USA Championship finalists about why a certain weapon was so popular, how they prepared, and how other players can get better at this notoriously challenging game. Watch the video for a summary of three finalist's tales, or read on for an in-depth look.
Dead Man Logan Tells the Final Story of Old Man Logan
Old Man Logan's story will officially conclude with the 12-part limited series, "Dead Man Logan."
Per Newsarama, "Dead Man Logan" will see Old Man Logan tying up loose ends by going after Mysterio, who tricked Logan into murdering his fellow X-Men in the Old Man Logan timeline. This forced Logan to retire (for a time) while disavowing the Wolverine name.

The Coolest PS4 Limited Editions
Sony has announced a limited edition PS4 celebrating a huge milestone, making for yet another in a line of special edition consoles this generation.
In honor of the console and its reveal, IGN has taken a look back at many of the special edition PS4's, PS4 Slims, and PS4 Pros. Take a dive into the history of the special consoles in the gallery below.
A couple caveats — we opted not to include many of the special edition consoles that were offered in extremely limited supply (ie, a special PS4 Pro of which only one or a dozen were made). We also, because of limited assets to use, did not include the Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward, Hatsune Miku, and Dynasty Warriors 8 special editions due to a lack of available, clean images.
