Emmy Nominations 2018 Announced
The Television Academy has revealed the nominees for the 2018 Emmy Awards, and Game of Thrones leads the pack with 22 nominations.
After not being eligible for last year's awards, HBO's fantasy epic has come back strong, grabbing a nomination for Best Drama and many, many other categories. Westworld and Saturday Night Live are close behind, with 21 nominations each.
But it wasn't all good news for HBO. Having been the most nominated network for 17 straight years, it was overtaken by Netflix's 112 nominations in this year's list.
Funimation Is Bringing New Dragon Ball Super Movie to North American Theaters
Dragon Ball Super: Broly is officially coming to North American theaters in 2019.
Funimation Films has acquired the theatrical rights to the new Dragon Ball Super movie, which is set to hit U.S. and Canadian theaters in January 2019. Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the twentieth film in the franchise and is based on the story, screenplay and character designs of original creator Akira Toriyama.
Dragon Ball Super: Broly follows the events of Dragon Ball Super, which has the first new Dragon Ball storyline from Toriyama in more than 18 years. Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z are largely based off of Toriyama's manga series, though his involvement in Dragon Ball GT was decidedly minimal.
The Bard’s Tale 4’s First Hour Reveals a Deeper RPG Than We Expected
I really liked what I played of Brian Fargo and inXile’s crowdfunded RPG The Bard’s Tale 4 a few months ago. It hinted at a very unique and potentially deep party- and turn-based combat system that role-playing fans would really be able to sink their teeth into. What I didn’t realize until my hands-on with the Kickstarter backer beta, however, is that what I saw last time was barely scratching the surface.
I played the opening hour of The Bard’s Tale IV and was pleasantly surprised at just how deep of an RPG it appears to be. It opened in a town square, with myriad NPCs roaming about to speak with – some of them offering sidequests to undertake. Visually, too, the reborn Bard’s Tale makes a wonderful first impression, with graphics that feel on par with games that have exponentially larger development budgets.
Shazam!: Dwayne Johnson Won’t Cameo as Black Adam
It seems Black Adam and Shazam won't be battling anytime soon.
Speaking to Syfy Wire, Dwayne Johnson confirmed he won't appear as the DC villain in Shazam! But he did reassure the Black Adam solo film is still very much in the works.
"I'm not in that one," Johnson said. "It's Shazam and Black Adam and, with the way the DC universe works, we should — in theory — meet up on the big screen. But who knows."
Shazam! was reported to be split into two movies last year, with the second focusing on Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam. Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, 2019 while Black Adam doesn't have a release date yet.
Fortnite Season 5 Introduces Golf, Basketball, and (Possibly) Volleyball
Just as everyone expected, Fortnite now has a golf simulator. OK, few (if any) fans expected new sports to play inside Fortnite, but that's exactly what they're doing now that Season 5 has begun.
Fortnite streamers and leakers DieBuddies posted a promotional image hinting at in-game golf early this morning before later posting that it was possible to play basketball, volleyball, and golf.
The trio of sports games are made possible through what Epic has dubbed "toys," which Polygon reports are unlocked by purchasing this season's Battle Pass and performing an emote that generates a basketball, golf ball, or volleyball (which looks more like a beach ball but is being called a volleyball by most players).
Nintendo Switch Isn’t the ‘Ideal’ Platform for Yakuza Games, Says Dev
Yakuza series producer, Daisuke Sato, says the Nintendo Switch is not the "ideal" platform to develop Yakuza games on.
Sato has said that while he might consider releasing the Yakuza games for the Xbox One, the Switch isn't looking likely, and it's partially down to the console's user base.
In an interview with gameblog.fr (per Gematsu's translation), Sato said that he's not convinced Nintendo's console is the right platform on which to develop Yakuza, because "maybe people don’t expect this kind of game on Switch."
