10 Pokemon We Want in Smash Bros. for Switch

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was put on grand display at E3 2018, revealing that every fighter in the history of the fighting franchise will be included on the roster. During the presentation, Masahiro Sakurai said that we shouldn’t expect too many new fighters, but that won’t stop us from speculating on who those new additions might be.

Earlier this year, we made our wishlist for nine new Smash Bros. characters we want to see, and that still stands, but this time around, we’re focusing on just the new Pokemon we want in the game. There are hundreds to choose from, so if any one franchise is going to get its own list, it’s Pokemon. Every iteration of Smash Bros. has added at least one new Pokemon character, and we see no reason this time should be any different, so here are our top picks.

PlayStation 4 Was the Best Selling Console for May 2018

Sony's PS4 once again topped new hardware sales, taking the top position for the month and retaining its position as the best-selling console of 2018 so far.

State of Decay 2 took the top spot in software sales, beating out PS4 exclusives God of War and Detroit: Become Human.

The PlayStation was the best-selling hardware platform, while the Nintendo Switch with neon red and blue Joy-con was the best selling SKU.

While PS4 came out on top, May was an enormously successful month for all three consoles, with PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch hitting "all-time unit sales highs for a May month." May 2018 had the highest May-hardware sales numbers since 2011.

Here are the best selling games for May 2018:

PUBG Offers Compensation for Falsely Banned Accounts

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds players who have had their accounts falsely banned are in for a small in-game windfall.

PUBG devs have announced that players whose accounts were "improperly banned" in their bid to tackle cheaters will be granted a "small compensation of 20,000 BP" to their accounts.

"As you know, one of our highest priorities is working towards eliminating hackers and cheaters from PUBG. We’ve made great strides in this area recently, but unfortunately sometimes we get it wrong, which was the case recently when a number of players were improperly banned and were unable to access the game for a period of time," reads an offical update.

Capcom Has No Plans to Bring Resident Evil 2 to Switch

Don't expect to see the Resident Evil 2 remake on the Nintendo Switch anytime soon, as Capcom has revealed it has no plans to bring the horror remake to the handheld platform.

When asked by GamingBolt whether there's any possibility of us seeing Resident Evil 2 on Switch, Capcom's brand manager Mike Lunn responded, “No, not at this time. We just wanted to focus on PS4, Xbox One, and PC at the moment.”

Though it doesn't seem like Resident Evil 2 will be making its way to Switch anytime soon, that doesn't mean the option has been ruled out completely or that the company won't follow a similar path to the Resident Evil 7 Cloud version for Switch.

Gears 5 Definitely Won’t Be Called ‘Gears of War 5′

The upcoming addition to the Gears of War franchise will be called Gears 5 rather than Gears of War 5.

Head of The Coalition Rod Fergusson confirmed the name on Twitter, explaining that, while the franchise name is still "Gears of War", the company decided to shorten the title to fit in with its new family of products.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Feels Like a Museum for its Own Franchise

Smash Bros. has always been a showcase for Nintendo’s other work. Since introducing the 12 core stars of the N64 original - each representing Nintendo’s biggest franchises and most beloved cult hits - the series has consistently ballooned to include characters old, new, forgotten and tangential. Items, Assist Trophies, stages and soundtracks have become part of the firmament, with almost every one a reference to something someone out there will remember; an unnatural history museum, if you will.

But Super Smash Bros. Ultimate feels different. Suddenly this feels more like a museum built to celebrate Smash Bros. itself.

Scientists Growing Neanderthal ‘Minibrains’

A group of scientists is using stem cells to grow "minibrains" that contain Neanderthal DNA, and hopes they'll learn to control crab-like robots. Yep.

According to Science Magazine, a research group at the University of California San Diego School Of Medicine is conducting the project, which has been made possible by the intersection of a number of scientific research areas: "ancient DNA, the genome editor CRISPR and 'organoids' built from stem cells."

Organoids - miniature versions of bodily organs used for research - have been created from modern human brain tissue before, but geneticist Alysson Muotri has revealed that he and his team have been using Neanderthal DNA to create small versions of the extinct human species' cortex.
