Valve Making Entire Steam Library Playable On Mobile Via Free App

Valve has announced two free mobile apps that will allow you to play any game or video in your Steam Library on any supported iOS or Android devices.

The Steam Link app, which is slated to release the week of May 21, will work similarly to the physical Steam Link device. It will allow you to run games on your PC that you then stream and play on any device using the app, as long as the host PC is connected either to a 5Ghz network or plugged in with an ethernet cable.

How you will actually control those games is a different question altogether, although Steam’s Big Picture mode already has a history of allowing controls to be highly customizable in games that otherwise don't support it. The Steam Link app will support the use of a Steam Controller and MFI controllers, and you’ll likely need to use something similar as most games won’t have native support for touch controls.

Miitomo Shuts Down Today

Nintendo has officially shut down Miitomo today.

The company announced its plans to close its first smartphone app earlier this year. While Nintendo hasn't given a specific reason for the shutdown, it could be due to a drop-off of users. When Miitomo launched in 2016, over 10 million users signed up for the app in the first month.

However, Nintendo still plans on expanding its mobile presence. The company's new president, Shuntaro Furukawa, recently said he's interested in developing more smartphone games and wants to grow Nintendo's mobile games output into a 100 billion yen ($910 million USD) business.
