Detective Pikachu Confirmed for Western Release on 3DS
Detective Pikachu is coming to Nintendo 3DS in the West on March 23, 2018.
Today The Pokemon Company announced the Western release date for the action adventure game, as well as a special Detective Pikachu amiibo, which has special functionality within the game.
The game stars a unique gumshoe Pikachu and his partner, Tim Goodman, as they search for clues and solve a series of cases while investigating the disappearance of Tim's father, Harry. A vital part of the duo, Pikachu will be able to talk to other Pokemon to obtain clues that Tim wouldn't be able to find on his own.
Detective Pikachu includes all the chapters of the 2016 Japanese Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo, as well as additional content, including new locations for players to explore. The game will feature an Easy Mode for players who want hints to point them in the right direction.
IGN UK Podcast #417: Tonya Harding’s Dark Soul
Awards seasons has got hold of the IGN UK team and they went off to see a flurry of worthy films this week. Gav was bang into I, Tonya, Rory was feeling Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Simon ran a bit lukewarm on The Shape of Water and they all stepped out to the premiere of The Post.
There's also sexy times to be had with a Nintendo Direct and the announcement that we'll be going back to Lordran when Dark Souls comes to the Switch.
That's not all! There's a dramatic Keyword Countdown and due to tangible demand we have the return of Cardy's Football Manager Update (we really need a new name for that segment)
12 Years a Slave Writer Explores DC Comics’ Secret History
DC Comics has enlisted Oscar-winning screenwriter John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) to helm an ambitious new project that offers a more racially and politically charged look at the history of the DC Universe.
Dubbed The Other History of the DC Universe, this limited series will center on heroes from various marginalized groups in the DCU, be they racial minorities, members of the LGBT community or even aliens. The main cast will include Green Lantern John Stewart, Extraño, Vixen, Supergirl, Katana and Renee Montoya. Ridley's story will reexamine key events in DC lore from the perspective of these characters and chronicle their respective struggles to embrace their true selves.
Marvel’s Smart Approach to Linking Movies and Comics
Last week Marvel revealed the latest addition to the ever-growing line of X-Men comics, Exiles. This revival of the fan-favorite early 2000's series follows the same basic premise as the original series, with mutant teleporter Blink leading an eclectic team of heroes in a quest to protect the Marvel multiverse. Perhaps the biggest twist in this new announcement, however, is the fact that the team will include a new version of Valkyrie modeled very directly on Tessa Thompson's portrayal of the character in Thor: Ragnarok. It's the latest example of Marvel tweaking its comics to make them more like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But where some of Marvel's past attempts at superhero synergy have failed, this new Valkyrie suggests they're learning from their mistakes.

Marvel’s Avengers 4 Celebrates End of Filming With Thanos Cake
Filming has completed on Marvel's next Avengers movie, and a nearly impossible cake featuring a miniature Thanos was rolled out to mark the occasion.
The Russo Brothers Twitter account posted a photo of the ridiculous cake, and it's hard to tell exactly which parts are edible and which are merely for dramatic effect.
It definitely looks like Black Widow's hand is helping hold up the second layer of the cake, but without tasting it, it's impossible to know for sure. It's also impossible to tell who the other arm is, but one thing is for certain: that is not Hulk's arm.
6 Things Missing from Nintendo’s January Direct
With several reports leading up to the heavily-rumored January Direct, many of us were fully prepared for Nintendo to come out swinging with a solid set of reveals to get us hyped for Switch in 2018. However, Nintendo once again decided to go in a completely different direction than expected and surprised us all with a Mini Direct. While it had some great announcements, it ultimately left us hanging with a lot of questions still unanswered. Here are six things Nintendo still needs to talk about this year.
Okay, so let’s just go ahead and rip the band-aid right off and get the most obvious one out of the way first. A great deal of praise and high sales numbers don't make up for a lackluster online infrastructure. Simply put, the Switch's current online system still feels like it's in beta, and that's precisely the reason why we're shocked that we still haven't heard anything about a solid release date for the Switch's paid online service nearly a full year into its lifecycle. It’s time for Nintendo to start being more vocal about a fixing their voice chat system, matchmaking, and how they plan to improve the overall state of their current online infrastructure
Bungie Outlines Destiny 2 Updates in 2018
Destiny 2's game director Christopher Barrett has outlined a number of changes and planned updates coming to the sequel in 2018, promising that the developer is "not just listening, we are doing."
Chief among the plans Barrett listed is a features roadmap, highlighting three key release windows for which Bungie will provide more details as each update nears. All content and features in these updates will be made available to all Destiny 2 players.
Barrett also explained the team is "shifting the balance of new content" away from Bright Engrams and more toward activity rewards. So items like Ghosts, Sparrows, and ships will be includes in achievement reward pools. Bungie pledges to "provide a gameplay path to earn Bright Engrams and all contained rewards," while also giving players "more direct purchase options."Barrett mentions some of these changes will begin with the Crimson Days event, which launches on February 13.
Warner Bros. CEO: DC Films Can’t Try to Copy Disney
Warner Bros. is streamlining the processes involved with making its super hero movies in an attempt to improve on what has been less than stellar numbers for less than stellar films.
Warner Bros. Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara told The Wrap Warner Bros. "can’t do what Disney’s done."
He said while it's "worked really, really well for them," it's not who Warner Bros. is. "We need to continue to create a balanced slate of all types of movies and all genres," Tsujihara said.
Last week, DC films got a new boss in Walter Hamada, and now Warner Bros. Pictures Chairman Toby Emmerich answers only to Tsujihara.
