Ben Affleck’s Batman May Be in Flashpoint Movie
Ben Affleck's Batman may appear in the Flashpoint movie but is unlikely to get his own solo film.
Variety reports Affleck might don the cape and cowl once more for Flash's first solo movie, which will adapt the popular 2011 Flashpoint comic storyline. However, it appears highly unlikely Affleck will actually get to portray the Dark Knight in director Matt Reeves' The Batman.
Reeves reportedly wants to cast the role with fresh talent. Recent rumors suggest Jake Gyllenhaal might be up for the role, but Warner Bros. has yet to officially comment on the matter.
Justice League Performance Leads to DC Films Reorg
Warner Bros. is reportedly planning to reorganize DC Films in the wake of Justice League's disappointing performance at the box office.
Multiple sources have told Variety Jon Berg will no longer run DC Films' production division, and will instead become a production partner alongside Roy Lee (The LEGO Movie, Stephen King's IT). A search for Berg's replacement is said to currently be underway, and the restructuring is expected to happen by January.
"This is something that Jon approached me about six months ago, and he expressed his goal was to ultimately be a producer at the studio," Warner Bros. Picture Group President Toby Emmerich told Variety in a statement. Sources say Emmerich is considering further integrating DC Films into the main movie arm of Warner Bros., which would bring the studio's DC movie division under the same roof.
