Han Solo Director Ron Howard Teases Smuggling Scene

Director Ron Howard has teased fans with an image of what appears to be a smuggling scene from the upcoming untitled Han Solo film.

An image on the director's Twitter account features a blurry shot of a director's monitor showing what looks to be Han Solo star Alden Ehrenreich sneaking about. "Director's monitor. Turns out smuggling has its stressful moments in the galaxy," he said in the post.

Marvel Faces Backlash Over Deal with Arms Manufacturer

Update 10/7/2017: During the Marvel Legacy: Avengers panel at New York Comic Con, a fan asked Marvel CCO Joe Quesada about the Northrop Grumman comic. Quesada said, “I’ll be honest with you, I saw it for the first time as you guys. I think there were some messaging issues. It was really about science and education.” And he finished by saying that he felt the issue was dealt with satisfactorily.

The original story is below.

There has been considerable fan backlash after Marvel teamed up with arms manufacturer Northop Grumman.

Business Insider reports that fans have been vocally upset after Marvel announced a partnership with the world's fifth-largest defense contractor for New York Comic-Con on Twitter.

This Obi-Wan Figure Deserves a Standalone Movie

We don't currently have much idea what this rumored Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone film will be about, but we hope it bears some resemblance to the Star Wars Mythos sixth-scale action figure that Sideshow Collectibles had on display at New York Comic-Con.

The Star Wars Mythos Collection began as a line of polystone statues from Sideshow portraying iconic Star Wars heroes and villains in slightly reimagined, heavily-stylized scenarios. Like, Darth Vader hanging out in lava, or Boba Fett with a poncho and sniper rifle, but Obi-Wan's design is the clear winner.

Black Mirror: Season 4 Premiere First Impressions

IGN was in attendance at the fifth annual PaleyFest New York on Deisy for a screening of a full episode from Season 4 of Netflix’s Black Mirror.

While reviews of the episode were strictly forbidden along with any kind of spoilers, I can say that, if this one episode is any indication, Black Mirror’s streak of solid seasons is unlikely to be broken anytime soon.

The crew of the USS Callister. The crew of the USS Callister.

Titled "USS Callister," the episode -- which panel moderator David Itzkoff laughingly referred to as “Black Mirror’s idea of a Christmas episode” -- had by far the highest production values of anything the series has shown so far. The CG effects are top notch and parts of it were shot on location in the deserts of the Canary Islands, which could not have been cheap.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Beta Raises Pay-To-Win Fears

I’ve been playing the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 beta for the last couple of days, and while I’m enjoying shooting blasters and dogfighting in TIE Fighters, its progression and upgrade card system seriously rub me the wrong way.

Like so many other games nowadays, Battlefront 2 has loot boxes called ‘crates’ that contain digital goodies like new weapons, ability upgrades, weapon mods, and passive stat bonuses that give you an edge, along with a range of cosmetic options like hero skins and victory poses. You get crates either by earning in-game credits to buy them, or by spending real money to purchase them outright.

So this begs the obvious question: Is Star Wars: Battlefront 2 pay-to-win?

This Iconic X-Man Isn’t Coming Back Yet

Marvel continued their major NYCC this afternoon with a panel focused on all things X-Men. It's certainly an interesting time for the franchise, what with the start of Marvel Legacy and the return of iconic characters like Wolverine, Jean Grey and Professor X.

However, there's one major X-Man who apparently won't be returning to life anytime soon. Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso responded to a fan question by saying that there are currently no plans to bring back the adult version of Cyclops, who was killed during the Death of X miniseries last year.

Fans should expect here to be plenty of friction between the young and old versions of characters like Wolverine, Jean and Iceman. Old Man Logan writer Ed Brisson compared the elder Logan to a jilted stepfather who finds himself replaced by the real thing. Iceman editor Darren Shan revealed that the series will focus on new tension between the teen and adult versions of Bobby Drake after Bobby's parents discover the existence of his time-displaced counterpart.
