When RiffTrax and Doctor Who Collide!
For fans of Doctor Who, Mystery Science Theater 3000, and RiffTrax, there will be no bigger day than August 17, 2017, when the RiffTrax team – Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett – take on the classic 20th anniversary Doctor Who story “The Five Doctors” for a live event carried to theaters across the country via Fathom Events.
The show will also be rebroadcast to theaters on August 24. And while the story has been riffed a few times by the Doctor Who-specific convention-based Mysterious Theatre 337 (now where could they have gotten that name), it’s time for five incarnations of the Doctor, as well as assorted Daleks, Cybermen, Yeti, companions, and a somewhat embarrassing leotard-wearing robot, to get the full RiffTrax treatment! (The team previously riffed the two ’60s Peter Cushing Dr. Who films.) But rest assured, fans, it’s not going to get too nasty; that’s not the RiffTrax way, as we certainly clarified in this fun chat with two-thirds of the team, Mike Nelson and Bill Corbett...

Okami HD Reportedly Lined Up for PS4 and Xbox One
Okami HD will reportedly be (re-)released for Xbox One and PS4 on December 12.
According to Kotaku UK sources, the game has been added to internal release schedules for two European retail chains.
The game - which was released in western territories as a PS3 download-only HD remaster in 2012 - will apparently be released physically this time around. And no, there's apparently no Switch port.
Okami - a Zelda-like game about a wolf goddess in which players use a celestial paintbrush to alter the world around them - is a beloved cult classic that's seen more than one re-release by this point.
The Force Unleashed’s Protagonist Could Have Become Canon
The protagonist Starkiller from the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game series was almost brought into the mainline Star Wars fold as a canon character.
Sam Witwer, the voice of Starkiller (via Polygon) revealed during a Twitch stream that his character was considered to appear in the CGI animated television series Star Wars Rebels.
Starkiller was potentially going to feature as one of Vader's inquisitors who would personally hunt down enemy Jedi. This, however, fell apart due to the overpowered nature of the video game hero.
EA Games for Switch Dependent on FIFA 18’s Success
EA sees FIFA 18's Switch port as a test for the popularity of its games on Nintendo's latest console, and is seemingly using it to decide whether to continue releasing games on the platform.
Speaking to Edge Magazine, EA executive vice president Patrick Söderlund explains that, "we want to be a part of the Switch, and help Nintendo grow that installed base
But at the same time we have to look at it from a resource standpoint and, at some point, the numbers become a factor.
"So for us it’s about supporting the platform, building technology for the platform, testing it out with big things like FIFA – and maybe a couple of others, we’ll see – and if they go well, I see no reason why we shouldn’t have as much of our portfolio on that platform as possible. I hope we get there, that would be my personal ambition."
Final Fantasy XV Prompto VR Experience Will Not Be Released
The Prompto VR experience for Final Fantasy XV will not see a public release, being described as "a showcase" and nothing more.
Shown off at E3 2016, the experience allowed players to don a PSVR headset and become Prompto, being driven around the game's world and taking on enemies in shooting sections. We thought it was pretty great - if a little simple - when we tried it at the show.
Sadly, we likely won't get another chance. Speaking to Sirus Gaming at PlayStation Experience South East Asia, Final Fantasy XV lead designer Wan Hazmer explained:

As reported by Het Parool (via PC Gamer), footballer Edgar Davids - who played for Juventus, Barcelona and UK premier-league side, Tottenham Hotspur during his career - contacted Riot in 2015 to request it stopped using League of Legends character skin Striker Lucian, as he believed it was based upon him.
Paris Games Week: PlayStation Media Showcase Dated
Sony has announced the time and date of their official Media Showcase event at Paris Games Week.
Scheduled for the 30th October at 5pm local time (4pm BST/12pm ET/9am PT/31st October 1 am AEST), not much is currently known about the event, but Sony has a history of treating Parisian gamers to big announcements.
2015's conference featured the reveal of both Gran Turismo Sport and Quantic Dream's Detroit: Become Human, as well as providing a release window for No Man's Sky and a bevy of other information about upcoming games. Last year featured no conference appearance from PlayStation but they did feature 40 playable demos over 300 booths, in addition to using the event for the finals of the PlayStation Plus League eSports tournaments.
Game of Thrones Brought Back a Fan Favorite in a Significant Way
Full spoilers for Game of Thrones: Season 7 "Eastwatch" continue below.
"Thought you might still be rowing."
With the most fan-service line of the night, Davos Seaworth helped Game of Thrones fans welcome Gendry, the long-missing, still-rowing bastard son of Robert Baratheon, back into the fold. While he's here to be the hammer-wielding part of the dream team Jon Snow is taking ranging north of the Wall, his returned presence back to the show is of marked importance.
First, as was underlined multiple times in "Eastwatch," Jon and Gendry are in many ways the new versions of Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon. Game of Thrones: Season 7 has done nothing if not call back to just how much has changed over the past seven seasons, and seeing these two characters meet in the flesh -- one leaner, and one shorter than the men that came before them -- is very much reminiscent of the close bond between Ned and Robert. It's even more moving when you think about the fact these men are both bastards, which they surely will find kinship over (even if Jon might not really be a bastard after all).
