Doom Update 6.66 Scraps Season Pass, All DLC Free

Bethesda is ditching the Season Pass for Doom and giving away all multiplayer DLC content for free. The move comes in unison with the game’s newest update, the appropriately-dubbed Update 6.66. It’s available today.

e’ve retired the DOOM season pass and are making all of the multiplayer DLC content available to all players,” explains Doom game director Marty Stratton on Bethesda.net. “That’s three multiplayer DLC packs, which include nine of our best maps, three additional guns, three additional playable demons, new equipment, armor sets and more. That’s on top of the modes and features, like bot support, that players have been enjoying since late last year.”

Sony’s Venom Will Be a John Carpenter-Style Horror Film

The success of Spider-Man: Homecoming  is being used as a springboard for a series of spinoff films involving characters from the Spider-Man universe. However Sony is planning to use a variety of different and distinct styles for each of these films.

According to Variety, distinctiveness is going to rule the day, with Sony considering the possibility of making an R-rated movie or a more low-budget affair, should it feel right for the project at hand.

Currently, two spinoffs have been announced: Venom, which will star Tom Hardy and be directed by Ruben Fleischer, and Silver & Black, which will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Venom is going to be a horror movie, with Columbia Pictures president Sanford Panitch comparing it to the likes of John Carpenter and David Cronenberg. "I’ve always been drawn to the more antihero superheroes. There’s a dark element to

Nolan Slams Netflix Over ‘Mindless Policy’ on Theatrical Releases

Filmmaker Christopher Nolan has criticized Netflix for its digital distribution model that eschews movie theaters.

While on the promotional circuit for his latest movie, the war epic Dunkirk, Nolan told Indiewire that “Netflix has a bizarre aversion to supporting theatrical films."

“They have this mindless policy of everything having to be simultaneously streamed and released, which is obviously an untenable model for theatrical presentation. So they’re not even getting in the game, and I think they’re missing a huge opportunity.”

Dunkirk is optimized for theaters in 70mm, and it's not the first time Nolan has spoken about the "watering down" of the theatrical experience. He does, however, support Amazon's current model, which gives movies a theatrical release window before they land on the streaming service.
