Cars 3 Dethrones Wonder Woman to Top Box Office
Despite having the franchise's lowest debut, Cars 3 dethroned Wonder Woman to claim first place at the North American box office this weekend.
The new animated film from Disney-Pixar earned an estimated $53.5 million, putting it behind the first Cars' $60.1 million debut and the sequel's $66.1 million opening weekend. In total, the Cars films have now grossed over $1 billion worldwide, and over a whopping $10 billion in global merchandise sales.
Among Pixar's eighteen films, Cars 3 is the sixteenth to have debuted in first place. It's also one of the studio's smaller openings in North America, ranking thirteenth among all eighteen of Pixar's movies, just ahead of Ratatouille's $47 million debut.

Atari Teases New Game Console Called Ataribox
A new Atari video game console is on the way, according to the company's CEO Fred Chesnais.
Atari has released a mysterious video teasing a brand new piece of hardware called the Ataribox. Though the video doesn't reveal much, it does suggest the console will sport some sort of wood-grain design.
In an interview with GamesBeat, Chesnais addressed the speculation and rumors, confirming Atari is indeed "back in the hardware business."
While Chesnais did not provide further details about the hardware, he did confirm the Ataribox will be based on PC technology. Chesnais also said the system's design is still not finalized and that more information about the console will be shared at a later date.
Danganronpa 3 Is Weird, Wonderful, and Prettier than Ever
At first glance, Danganronpa is pretty weird. Each game follows a new group of high school students held captive by a robot bear forcing them to kill each other in order to escape. With each new murder comes an investigation, and eventually a trial to present evidence and prove who committed the crime. With me so far? You should be.
Danganronpa is an underrated gem in PlayStation’s library of exclusives, a subversive and sardonic adventure game that mocks anime tropes while simultaneously embracing them. Its humor is dark and its grisly crime scenes are darker still, but the series also has an unexpected heart. Its portrayal of hope versus despair is mostly tongue-in-cheek but occasionally unexpectedly profound, using exaggerated characters and situations to actually send a fairly inspiring message: even when you think there’s no hope left, there might be some.

Marvel's Spider-Man, the upcoming PS4 title from developer Insomniac Games, will feature alternate outfits.
The official Insomniac Twitter account replied fan who asked if the game will feature multiple Spidey suits, providing a simple but affirmative "Yes."
There were no hints as to what variations we may see in the game or how they may be unlocked or applied. We do, however, know that Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales and Peter Parker will all be featured in the game.
The Enduring Popularity of Pete and Pete
It’s been quite awhile since episodes of The Adventures of Pete and Pete have aired on a Nickelodeon station, but that’s about to change, as episodes of the beloved 1990s comedy -- about two identically-named brothers -- are joining the lineup on NickSplat, the retro programming block that airs every night beginning at 10:00pm on the TeenNick channel.
Saturday, July 17th and Sunday, July 18th will all be Pete and Pete focused on NickSplat, with “The Strongest Reunion in the World” event. Besides airing classic episodes, there will also be newly-filmed segments with Michael C. Maronna (“Big Pete”) and Danny Tamberelli (“Little Pete”).
Maronna, Tamberelli and The Adventures of Pete and Pete co-creator Chris Viscardi were all on hand last weekend at a the ATX Television Festival in Austin for a NickSplat panel that also included cast and creators from Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts. I sat down with the Pete and Pete trio to talk about the surreal show’s enduring cult popularity, if we can ever get the third season on DVD (Season 1 and Season 2 were released years ago), favorite episodes, and if Pete and Pete could ever get revived with new episodes.

Will Ferrell: Anchorman Originally Had Killer Orangutans
Will Ferrell has revealed details about the insanely different initial version of the screenplay for Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, a draft the actor said was once rejected 10 times in one day.
In a guest appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Ferrell recalled this darker, loonier incarnation of what eventually made it to the big screen in 2004: “The first version of Anchorman is basically the movie Alive, where the year is 1976, and we are flying to Philadelphia to celebrate the Bicentennial, and also, all the newsmen from around the country are flying in from their affiliates to have some big convention.”
