Pokemon Bank Now Compatible With Sun and Moon

You can now transfer your favorite old Pokemon to Sun and Moon using the Pokemon Bank.

Well, maybe not ALL your favorite old Pokemon, but any Pokemon from Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, X, Y, or the 3DS Virtual Console versions of Red, Blue, and Yellow, can now be transferred.

Nintendo is also giving away Mewnium Z crystals to Pokemon Bank users. That's the Z-crystal for Mew, in case you were wondering. Nintendo points out the Z-crystal only works in Pokemon Sun and Moon, but you have until October 2 to claim your Mewnium Z, so if you don't have Sun or Moon, there's plenty of time to get it.

This Year’s Biggest Oscar Snubs

Another year's Academy Awards nominations announcement, another round of films and artists who didn't make the cut.

While this year's crop of nominees managed to avoid another embarrassing #OscarsSoWhite scenario of oversights and omissions, there were nevertheless some very notable snubs and exclusions. Here are some of the biggest ones:.

Yes, the Fox-Marvel superhero satire was always a huge long shot -- as explained at length here -- but the fact that Deadpool scored a Producers Guild of America nomination as one of 2016's best movies certainly seemed like it had a chance. Ditto its Golden Globe, Writers Guild and Directors Guild nominations. But, alas, the merc with a mouth's movie didn't score a single nomination in any Oscar category.

X-Men TV Pilot From Bryan Singer Ordered by FOX

Expect more mutants on the small screen, because FOX has ordered an X-Men TV pilot from director Bryan Singer and Burn Notice's Matt Nix.

Variety reports the X-Men show will follow the parents of a mutant. With a hostile government in place, they will join an underground resistance to keep their family alive and together.

Nix is set to write the pilot, and he recently chatted with IGN about the X-Men show's connection to the movies. If the untitled series is picked up, it would join Legion as the second X-Men show on the air.

New to Netflix in February

Coming this February on Netflix are movies like Sausage Party, Finding Dory, Babe, David Brent: Life on the Road, Magic Mike, Twilight, Milk, and more.

Plus, as always, there are plenty of Netflix Originals to choose from, with Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant's Santa Clarita Diet at the top of the buzz bin. In it, they play a married couple who find new excitement in their life with the help of - um - an unusual dietary regimen (pssst, it's people!).

Also on tap are TV shows like Girl Meets World, The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story, Frequency, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

IGN SPOTLIGHT

Read a New Black Sails Comic Book Story

As Black Sails’ final season debuts this coming weekend, fans also have the chance to see a new story that takes place much earlier in the show’s timeline via the comic book one-shot Rackham’s Razor.

Black Sails cast member Toby Schmitz, who plays Jack Rackham -- teamed with artist Matthew Southworth (Stumptown, Spider-Man: The Grim Hunt] -- wrote the story himself, which depicts exactly how Jack and Anne Bonny (Clara Paget) first met and forged their strong bond. IGN has the exclusive debut of the entire comic, which you can view by clicking on the slideshow below. Then come back to this page for info from Schmitz on how Rackham’s Razor came to be.

Oh, and here’s your NSFW language warning for the comic, since the characters speak as you’d expect them to, given this is the world of Black Sails….

7 Times Archie Comics Went Dark Before Riverdale

This week, The CW will debut Riverdale, a dark re-imagining of the Archie franchise that shares as much in common with shows like Twin Peaks and Gossip Girl as it does the classic Archie Comics stories. Some Archie fans have cried foul over this treatment, but the truth is that Riverdale is just the latest in a surprisingly long line of projects that offered a dark, subversive take on Archie and the gang. The show is really just keeping the tradition alive.

If you don't believe us, check out these seven other times the Archie franchise went dark.

This infamous 1994 crossover offered an early taste of what's possible when the Riverdale crew cross paths with the less savory denizens of the comic book industry. This one-shot special saw Frank Castle strike a deal with the US government to hunt down a ruthless drug dealer named Red. Unfortunately for Archie, Red was practically his doppelganger, and he just so happened to choose Riverdale as his hideout. In grand crossover tradition, Archie is first forced to flee from the bloodthirsty Punisher and then team up with his foe to rescue Veronica from Red. The comic even cleverly balances the two universes by having Marvel artist John Buscema draw the Punisher characters and Archie mainstay Stan Goldberg handling the Archie cast.

The Leftovers: Season 3 Teaser Trailer and Poster Debut

HBO has released the first teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming third and final season of The Leftovers.

The footage gives a quick look at some of the returning characters, like Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) and Nora Durst (Carrie Coon), along with a peak at the show's new setting, Australia.

This third season sees the Garvey family make there way to Australia "as they desperately grasp for a system of belief to help better explain that which defies explanation." Something big and sinister is about to happen that'll act as a "bookend to the Sudden Departure" that wrecked everyone's live a few years earlier.

Everything Leaving Netflix in February

Since the Netflix hub doesn't list everything in the company's streaming catalogue, sometimes the best way to know what's there is to find out what's leaving. Of course, then it becomes a race against time itself to try and check out the expiring movies and shows, but it is what it is.

Signing off from Netflix in February are movies like Clueless, Black Hawk Down, Mission Impossible III, Clerks, Friday, Star Trek: Nemesis, Trainspotting (which you should definitely catch before the long-awaited sequel arrives!), and more.

By the way, Clueless currently has a three and a half star rating on Netflix while Kevin James' True Memoirs of an International Assassin and Adam Sandler's The Do-Over currently both are at four stars. Make of that what you will!
