Arrow Producer on Using a Suicide Squad Character Again

Note: Some spoilers follow for tonight's Arrow, "A Matter of Trust," though nothing not previously revealed officially by the network and studio via the guest credits already released for the episode.

This week's Arrow, "A Matter of Trust," features an interesting guest star in the form of Michael Rowe, who reprises his role as Floyd Lawton, AKA Deadshot. Deadshot's appearance is notable, of course, because the character died a couple of years back on the show - but also because this marks Deadshot's first appearance on Arrow since the Suicde Squad movie opened this summer, in which Will Smith played Deadshot.

I saw "A Matter of Trust" at a screening for press this week and while I won't divulge details on Deadshot's role in the episode, I will say it's signifiant and more than a one-scene cameo. When the character was killed off -- and Amanda Waller soon after -- more than one Arrow participant said that there was a mandate from above at DC and Warner Bros. for the series to curtail their use of any of the Suicide Squad characters, as the movie approached, even though many had been already introduced on the series.

Following Vince Zampella's departure from Activision, the Call of Duty creator and former Infinity Ward head said he received "quite a lot of calls" from not only people lending support, but also several publishers interested in working with him on a future project.

"There was a lot of support," Zamepella said on the latest episode of IGN Unfiltered. "I think some people just wanted to find out what happened and see if it was true, and some people were being thoughtful and offering support as well."

With this new series focusing on Doom taking up the mantle of Iron Man in the aftermath of Civil War II, the first issue had little choice but to spoil the outcome of that unfinished mini-series. Back at E3 this year there was a very cryptic Wolfenstein tease, and the main voice actor for the game has just teased it further.

In an interview with TwoLeftSticks (thanks Gamespot), Brian Bloom, who played B.J. Blazkowicz in Wolfenstein: The New Order, talked about Bethesda's tease at E3.

Shortly before the reveal of Quake Champions, the opening of Bethesda's press conference had a DOS-style boot up sequence, showing files named for New_Order, Old_Blood, and the mysterious New_Colossus.

Games That Should Be Revived In VR

Every generation or so, a massive technological advancement comes along that will change video games forever. The last one was the Internet, allowing us to play games with friends all over the world, update our titles, and get new content without going to the store, etc. If you've been paying attention, you probably know we're on the cusp of another one: virtual reality. Sure, the basic tech of VR isn't anything new. People have been experimenting with immersive worlds for decades. But with the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR, we've finally got consumer-priced equipment that can deliver the goods, and with all this hardware, we're gonna need software.

Yu Suzuki's ambitious Dreamcast adventure is coming back in 2017 after a decade and a half away, but we can't help but think that he's sort of missing out on an opportunity to bring it to the next level. The original games were notorious for their level of immersion. As protagonist Ryo, you can wander freely through large, well-detailed towns, talking to everybody you meet, buying capsule toys, petting cats, etc. What made it work was the sense of nostalgic reality. You really felt like you inhabited Ryo's life, and transplanting that sensation into VR would be a huge accomplishment.

Amnesia Triple Pack Coming to PS4

The entire Amnesia series will finally come to console on November 22, in the form of a triple pack download called Amnesia: Collection for PS4

Announced on the PlayStation Blog, Frictional Games' horror classic, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, The Chinese Room's Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs and the lesser-known Amnesia: Justine - which was created as part of a Portal 2 ARG - will make up the pack.

We gave 2010's The Dark Descent an 8.5/10 review, saying that "few games are able to conjure up an atmosphere this genuinely frightening." The game's first-person, weapon-less survival style has gone on to profoundly influence the  horror genre, feeding into popular games like Outlast and, from early impressions, even the upcoming Resident Evil 7.
