Final Fantasy 15: A Fan and a Newbie Play the First 4 Hours
Here's how Final Fantasy XV (or at least the version we’ve played) opens. Alongside the splash screens for developers, publishers and engines, a simple statement of intent, white-on-black:
“A Final Fantasy for fans and first-timers.”
It’s a fascinating little statement, at once an admission that this royal line of RPGs has started to suffer from a little too much aristocratic inbreeding (you need only look at the withered disc-children of the misguided Fabula Nova Crystalis saga to see the effects), and a “come at me, bro” throwdown. It’s a game aiming to be something to everyone - enough Final Fantasy to appease fans (say: me, Joe Skrebels), and enough something quite different to intrigue the chronically uninterested (say: him, Daniel Krupa).
Joke Half-Life 3 Ad Displayed at Gamescom
A Half-Life 3 ad at Gamescom is turning heads, but it’s not the announcement you’ve been waiting for.
Prominently placed at Gamescom’s North Entrance, the ad in question actually reads “Half-Life: 3” followed by the words “Editors who played it back then,” joking that three employees of the companies that took out the ad -- Spieletipps and GIGA Games -- once played the original Half-Life.
Lego Dimensions: Supergirl Mini-Fig Announced
Warner Bros. has revealed today that Supergirl will be coming to Lego Dimensions as a pack-in minifigure character — but her availability will be limited.
Starting this September for a limited time, a Supergirl mini-fig will be included as a bonus figure in the PlayStation 4 Lego Dimensions starter pack, which normally includes Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle.
Supergirl will be able to fly, shoot heat beams from her eyes, and will have X-ray vision. Kara Zor-El will also have the ability to transform into her Red Lantern form, allowing her to fire energy bolts and create Lantern energy constructs.
Supergirl will be available in the game's "Hire-a-Hero" feature following her debut, which allows players without mini-figs to sample characters in exchange for collected studs. Warner Bros. did not announce any other future availability for the Supergirl mini-fig outside of the starter pack. The character was leaked earlier this year, alongside Green Arrow.

Konami says the new partnership will mean the in-game side "will truly replicate the team's overall and individual playing style and those of its players." The club's kits will be fully replicated, the team's anthem You'll Never Walk Alone will be in the game, as will the stadium Anfield, which will be made available to all players in a forthcoming free update.

John Williams Confirms He Will Score Star Wars Episode 8
Composer John Williams has confirmed to a crowd at a live concert he will soon begin work on Star Wars: Episode VIII.
According to Masslive, Williams said he will begin work in a few weeks after seeing an early cut of the movie.
Masslive reports Williams "said he accepted the invitation from Lucasfilm producer Kathleen Kennedy mainly because he was enchanted by actress Daisy Ridley's portrayal of Rey and does not want another composer scoring her scenes."
Star Wars isn't the only long running franchise Williams is staying attached to. A couple of months ago director Steven Spielberg revealed the prolific composer will be coming back to score the next Indiana Jones film.

Star Wars: Rogue One International Trailer Has New Shots
A new international trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has arrived, bringing with it a few more snippets from the film and some interesting additional dialogue. Tune out now if you’re keen to avoid any spoilers.
The latest international trailer is largely in line with the new US trailer showcased during the Olympics last Thursday, though it features the best look to date at the new Death Troopers and a few new shots of Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor.
Most interesting, however, is a previously-unheard piece of dialogue. While both the US and international trailers feature a sequence showing Mon Mothma briefing Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso about the Death Star (“A major weapons test is imminent”) the international trailer includes a follow-up line from Andor: “The message was sent by your father.”
