Nintendo Announces the Next Pokemon Direct

UPDATE: It's possible the forthcoming Pokémon Direct will be just five minutes in length.

That's according the Nintendo Twitter account, which after running the tweet through Google Translate, says "

is about five minutes of short video."

Nintendo has revealed the next Direct will be about all things Pokémon.

The Pokémon Direct special kicks off on February 26 at 7am PT / 3pm GMT. You can watch it live on the Nintendo Direct website or on Twitch. Replays are normally available shortly after the event finishes.

Nintendo is being tight-lipped about any of the contents of the special. You can probably expect the likes of Pokken, Pokémon Blue, Red, and Yellow to make a showing, and perhaps a mention of Super Mystery Dungeon.

Report: BvS to Get R-Rated Home Video Edition

The theatrical release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may be rated PG-13, but Warner Bros. is apparently preparing an R-rated home entertainment version of the film.

FilmRatings.com has revealed an R-rated “Ultimate Edition” of Batman v Superman, which includes "sequences of violence.”

With the film’s darker tone, it stands to reason Warner Bros. may have been influenced to release a more violent version of Batman v Superman -- perhaps in part thanks to the success of the record-breaking opening for the R-rated Deadpool.

Baywatch: Yes, The Rock’s Playing The Hoff’s Role

Dwayne Johnson took to his Instagram account tonight to post the first photos from the set of Baywatch, his new feature film based on the TV series of the same name.

Johnson's Instagram posts revealed that the characters in this more comedic big screen version of the TV series will share the same names as their small screen counterparts.

The Rock will play "Mitch Buchannon," the role played on the TV series by David Hasselhoff. His co-star Zac Efron plays "Matt Brody," the role played by David Charvet in the TV series that ran from 1989-2001.

Johnson captioned the first photo below:

X-Files Creator Carter Says FOX Wants More Episodes

FOX may be bringing The X-Files around for another go.

Creator Chris Carter told The Hollywood Reporter that FOX Television CEO Dana Walden would "very much" like to see more episodes, but nothing has been negotiated just yet.

According to the creator, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson would both be "game" for another season. "So I'm just working around their busy schedules," Carter said. "They both have families. It's another practical matter."

The final episode in X-Files' recent six-episode run ended with a major cliffhanger that "opens up both the TV and movie parts of the franchise."

PacRim 2: Daredevil Showrunner Replaces GDT as Director

The saga of Pacific Rim 2 continues as director Guillermo del Toro is out and Daredevil: Season 1 showrunner Steven S. DeKnight is in to make his feature film directorial debut.

According to Deadline, DeKnight, who also created the Spartacus series for Starz, will take over directing duties for the 3D sequel to the 2013 Kaiju versus giant robots action flick. While this will be DeKnight's first movie, he previously directed episodes of Angel, Smallville, Dollhouse and Daredevil - all of which are shows he wrote for.

Every Counter-Strike Major Will Have a $1 Million Prize

Valve has increased its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major Championship prize pool from $250,000 to $1 million. Starting with Major League Gaming's Columbus event at the end of March, players will receive substantially larger prizes for their efforts at each Major Championship.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive community has grown at an "incredible rate," putting its tournaments among the most watched in the world. The game's ESL 2015 One Cologne event raked in over 27 million unique viewers online—up thirty percent from the ESL One tournament held earlier in the year.

Marvel’s Most Wanted: Official Logline Revealed for Mockingbird SHIELD Spinoff

ABC and Marvel Television have released more information about Mockingbird spinoff Marvel's Most Wanted. Posted to Deadline as part of ABC's 2016 pilot lineup, Marvel's Most Wanted focuses on Bobbi Morse—Mockingbird—and Lance Hunter, who you may recognize from Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.

Morse and Hunter are "ex-spies and ex-spouses," and on the run from a "long list of enemies looking to claim a bounty on their heads." They've got no friends and no SHIELD to protect them -- they've only got each other. Along their journey, they'll start an "uneasy alliance" with Dominic Fortune, who's described as "a rogue adventurer with a wealth of resources and even more adversaries."

Van Damme to Star in Original Amazon Series

Jean-Claude Van Damme is set to star in an original Amazon pilot titled Jean-Claude Van Johnson.

The action comedy staring Van Damme received a pilot order, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the show, the action star will play as a version of himself, a famous actor and martial artist who comes out of retirement to resume his alter-ego: Jean-Claude Van Johnson, an undercover private contractor.

While Van Damme's character uses the cover of acting to get his work done, the pilot will see Johnson play a lead role in a reimagined action film version of Huckleberry Finn, which lands him back in middle of the danger that he craves.

Pitchford: 80% of Gearbox Staff are Working on Battleborn

Of the 300-person staff at Gearbox Studios, approximately 80 percent are working on the upcoming team-based shooter Battleborn.

This is according to Gearbox head Randy Pitchford, who revealed the statistics to Polygon during a recent podcast interview.

Pitchford claims the group working on Battleborn is collectively larger than the groups used to develop the previous two major installments in their blockbuster FPS franchise.

Far Cry Primal Patch Adds Expert Mode

Far Cry Primal received a day one patch alongside launch today, which adds an Expert Mode.

The patch notes from Ubisoft state that in Expert Mode, Takkar's health is halved compared to hard difficulty. The A.I.'s attack speed is increased by 1/3, enemies aren't shown on the mini-map unless tagged, and they'll will take longer to forget about you when you hide. It also reduces your aim assist, makes several weapons' aim assist box smaller, and reduces your damage.

The day one patch also includes some stability improvements,  a better aim reticle, improved beast companion behavior, and rebalanced XP rewards, among other tweaks. It comes in at just over 560 MB on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
