After 40 Years, Betamax Tapes Being Retired
Betamax, you've had a good run. Almost 40 years since Sony first introduced the magnetic media for recording television programs, the company announced it will be retiring the format in March 2016.
Perhaps the bigger news to come out of this is the fact that Sony has been producing Betamax tapes all along, in spite of the fact that the format was bested in the 1980s by JVC's VHS format, which then gave way to DVDs. The format war flared up again briefly with the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray battle of the early 21st century, but Betamax was there, all along, watching from the shadows.
American Horror Story Renewed for Season 6
FX has ordered a sixth season for its super popular series American Horror Story.
The award-winning television franchise, co-created by Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy, is the most-watched series in the network's history.
"With the sixth installment coming next year, American Horror Story has unquestionably joined the ranks of television’s landmark series," FX Network and Productions CEO John Landgraf said. "From Murder House to Hotel, AHS has pioneered a new television form as well becoming FX’s highest rated show."
Just a few months ago, Murphy teased the possibility of two seasons of AHS airing in 2016. Whether or not that's still being considered has yet to be confirmed. Additionally, FX has yet to reveal Season 6's official title.
Final Fantasy 7 Composer Not Involved in the Remake
Final Fantasy VII Remake will not feature an updated score from renowned composer Nobuo Uematsu.
According to Jeuxvideo, Uematsu was asked in a livestreamed interview if he would be working on the remake of Final Fantasy VII, which was revealed back at E3.
“Not at all,” Uematsu said.
Though Uematsu has composed most of the original scores for the Final Fantasy series, as well as many other classic Square games, Final Fantasy VII is arguably one of the most memorable. Last year, Uematsu told IGN One Winged Angel from Final Fantasy VII was one of the tracks he was most proud of.
Wrestling Wrap Up: WWE Title Vacated, Tournament Started
Before I even begin to sensually lather up and massage the sucky Seth Rollins news, let's briefly get into that big Brothers of Destruction reunion that marked the end of Monday's RAW. The one where Bray unwisely rolled out a "eulogy" for Undertaker and thusly caused both Taker and Kane to come out, chokeslam him, and then push Hugetaint McFalldown over the announce table.

The image features both Green Arrow and The Flash, the latter of whom is wearing a strange pair of gloves. Additionally, besides Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), Speedy (Willa Holland) and Diggle (David Ramsey), this sneak peek shows both Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) in costume, before the two characters become part of the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow spinoff. While we've met Hawkgirl in her civilian identity on The Flash, Hawkman has yet to be introduced.
