Director on Why Steve Jobs Movie Flopped

Despite critical acclaim, Universal's Steve Jobs film underperformed, and director Danny Boyle has revealed why he believes that was the case.

In an interview with BBC (via The Hollywood Reporter), Boyle said he thinks the studio's release strategy was the reason for the film's limited success, having jumped the gun on a widespread launch.

"It's very easy in hindsight, but I think it's probably that we released it too wide soon," he said.

Universal recently dropped the film from its wide release of 2,400 screens to just 400 screens as of last weekend. Steve Jobs has made roughly $17 million to date, roughly half of its reported production budget.

Top 25 Holiday Movies of All Time

Here at IGN, we like to argue; not about who tracked mud through the kitchen, or which of the editors used all of the toilet paper in the restroom. We like to argue about movies… which is better than which and why. Unfortunately, after the umpteenth shouting match, the higher-ups decided it would be a whole lot cooler to put all of this arguing to positive use.

So in honor of the holiday season, we're focusing today on Holiday Movies. Although many may have a preconceived notion of what such a film might be (Christmastime flicks), we opened our minds to all the films that take place on or during holidays.

Please note that we only considered feature films so all TV specials and made-for-TV movies didn't qualify for our list.

Iron Banner to Return in Next Destiny Update

The Iron Banner is returning to Destiny next week in an all-new update.

Among the changes in the forthcoming update are tweaks to the rewards gained and the switch to Clash. According to developer Bungie's blog, this is the first time the Iron Banner has used Clash.

Senior Designer Derek Carroll took to the blog to explain what players can anticipate as part of the switch.

"I’d expect to see a bit less Super ability usage, and a lot more shooting across the board, but good teams will work together and hold territory even without the scoring incentives that Control provided," he said.

The same post outlined the following changes to the Iron Banner's rewards:

Neal Adams Homages Himself in 25 Comic Covers

Comic book legend Neal Adams will be the theme for DC's February variant covers. The twist? They'll all be drawn by Neal Adams.

came up with the idea that I was going to do a whole bunch of covers, right?" Adams recalled to us. "And they were all going to appear at the same time, and they're all going to be homages to this apparently legendary comic book artist. So I said, 'Who is the comic book artist?' They said, 'Uh... Neal Adams.'

'You guys have to be kidding? Really?' 'No, no! You'll do homages to your covers!' 'No, that's crazy!' 'No, it would be great! It'll be cool! Except each cover would have different characters for different books.' 'Really? Like, so Robin isn't dead, and Batman isn't over him? It's somebody else?' 'Yeah.' 'Oh!' These people are crazy. But it sounds like a great idea. So apparently we're doing that, and we're getting a different inker to ink each cover, which is crazy too. I don't know exactly how they're going to place them or how they're going to do them, but I will tell you this: I have penciled every single one of them, and they're in the hands of DC Comics. That's right. If this isn't the craziest, weirdest, most wonderful idea I've ever heard, I can't imagine what it is."
