Dead Star and More Hot New Digital Games: Everything You Need to Know – IGN First
This month's IGN First is a bit different. Rather than profile a single AAA game all month long, we're spotlighting a different upcoming digital game each week, beginning with the exclusive reveal of Dead Star – a PS4 arcade space shooter by the ex-Retro folks at Armature Studio that features elements of strategy as well as 5v5 and 10v10 multiplayer modes. Here’s Everything From Today’s Windows 10 Devices Event
Microsoft held a live event to reveal new additions to its Windows 10 device line-up today. News of a new Surface Pro 4 and Lumia phones had leaked well ahead of the event, but Microsoft was able to keep a lid on what was arguably the biggest news to come out of the event, the introduction of Microsoft's first laptop.
The event started with a quick reiteration of the Xbox One game lineup, something most Microsoft fans were already aware of. It was the one and only time the Xbox One would make an appearance during the event, which put to bed rumors of a new, "slim" console. The first new product revealed was an updated version of the Microsoft Band, the company's fitness tracker.
Marvel Comics Teases Civil War 2 for 2016
Marvel could be teasing a comic book sequel to Civil War for next year.
Some retailers have received a postcard from Marvel featuring the Roman numeral "II", and an image on the front showing Iron Man fighting Captain America.

The only other bit of information was "Spring 2016" written on the back. Marvel hasn't made any other announcements about it so far.

The Martian’s Lord of the Rings Joke Was the Hardest Scene to Write
Drew Goddard, screenplay writer for the Ridley Scott-directed sci-fi blockbuster The Martian, revealed that a scene involving a Lord of the Rings joke was movie's hardest to write.
Warning, there are potential spoilers ahead. Set in a conference room on Earth, the situation involves a council deliberating on a plan to bring stranded astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) back to Earth.
The scheme to rescue Watney is jokingly dubbed "Project Elrond" after the Council of Elrond assembled in The Fellowship of the Ring to discuss what should be done with the One Ring.
“What was the hardest scene? The one that we went over and over several times was the Donald Glover “Council of Elrond” scene, because it's an eight-page scene,” Goddard said in an interview with the LA Times.. “It's a really long scene, which is something you don't normally want to do in screenwriting. You want to keep your scenes around three pages, so this was pretty long, especially for this type of movie.”

The first IGN Premiere event will take place on October 20 in London from 5pm GMT, and sees us teaming up with Ubisoft to take attendees back to Victorian times in preparation for the launch of Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Anyone who comes will get a chance to go hands-on with the game in a themed environment - think Secret Cinema for games - as well as check out a never-before-seen gameplay demo with live commentary from the game director Scott Phillips and ask questions in a live Q&A.
Fury Road Director Isn’t Opposed to Mad Max Spin-Offs
Mad Max director and creator George Miller isn't adverse to the idea of other directors telling stories set within his Wasteland universe.
When IGN put the idea to the Australian director, comparing it to what Disney has planned for the Star Wars spin-offs, he said:
"No, depending on who the director is. It would be wonderful if it was someone like Guillermo
or someone like that it would be fantastic."
But in addition to del Toro, it seems like Miller has some pretty specific choices in mind based on their skills as directors.
“There are several. I would say there are three, but I won’t say who they are. I keep talking about this being visual music, you need someone very, very strong on film language and syntax. It’s not just lumping a whole lot of action together without any coherence. Those directors who do that are the ones I always just want to see their movies regardless. I always want to see their movies. Like some composers or song writers, you just want to listen to their songs.”
10 All-New, All-Different Marvel Comics We Can’t Wait For
The next few months are shaping up to be pretty huge for Marvel. Even as the publisher wraps up the massive Secret Wars crossover (a process that's going to last until at least December now), they're kicking off their All-New, All-Different Marvel relaunch this week. Over the next several months, Marvel will be launching more than 60 new ongoing series. Some will be relaunched versions of old favorites, and others will feature new characters entirely, but all of these new comics will be taking advantage of the post-Secret Wars status quo in the Marvel Universe.
As we look forward to this mountain of new comics, we're selecting ten books that look especially promising. These ten new series stand out both because of the characters and creators involved.
Far Cry Primal Announced with 2016 Release Date
Ubisoft Montreal’s next Far Cry game is a Stone Age-era open world game called Far Cry Primal, and it launches for PS4 and Xbox One on February 23, 2016. A PC release will follow in March, 2016.
Set in 10,000 BC, Far Cry Primal follows Takkar, "a seasoned hunter and the last surviving member of his hunting group." As players survive in the land of Oros, "they will have to craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts, hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators and face off against other tribes to conquer Oros."
The debut trailer shows a small tribe of four stalking, hunting, and killing a herd of wooly mammoths before they’re attacked by a sabertooth tiger. Outposts (occupied by humans), spreading fires, and character upgrades return alongside new features, such as dead prey attracting new predators with its scent. The key art also suggests a sabertooth tiger companion for Takkar.
