Doom Multiplayer Closed Alpha Sign-up Now Open

Bethesda has announced Doom multiplayer alpha sign-ups are now open for anyone who bought Wolfenstein: The New Order on or before May 26, 2014.

A post on the game's site urges those who fulfill this criteria to register now to make sure they don't miss out, though we're currently without a start date for proceedings. Additionally, the closed alpha will only be in English, while the future beta and full game will offer other languages.

As for what you'll be able to try out, Bethesda has confirmed one map will be available - the industrial-themed Heatwave. Only 6v6 team deathmatch will be on offer, and one Demon form in the shape of the Revenant. In terms of Power Weapons, you'll get to try the Gauss Cannon (perfect for taking out demons) alongside regular weapons like the Vortex Rifle, the Super Shotgun, the Repeater, the Rocket Launcher, the Static Cannon and Plasma Rifle. Finally, Frag Grenades and Personal Teleporters will also be available.

Facebook Now Lets You Hide Sensitive Posts

Facebook has changed how its ‘On This Day’ feature works, by granting users the option to hide away dates they’d rather not be reminded of.

The feature, which selects a post from the user’s past and re-displays it on a specific date, recently came under scrutiny when posts of a sensitive nature begun reappearing without warning.

"We know that people share a range of meaningful moments on Facebook," a company representative told TheVerge. "As a result, everyone has various kinds of memories that can be surfaced — good, bad, and everything in between. So for the millions of people who use 'On This Day,' we've added these filters to give them more control over the memories they see."

Bungie Addresses Concerns of Fresh Destiny Microtransactions

Bungie has denied it has any plans to sell drop rate buffs in Destiny after a series of new items were found in patch files.

Following yesterday's update, which added the new real-money currency Silver to the game along with purchasable emotes, a number of players in the community were surprised to notice new items that appeared to offer significant bonuses to anyone who managed to acquire them.

The items include ones to buff armour and weapon drops in the King's Fall raid, the ability to acquire more Moldering Shards in the raid, and the option to fully level your character's equipped subclass. Concerns deepened when a thread made to bring up the issue on Bungie's forums was locked.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Spotted for Wii U

A Nintendo fan who's done a little digging in the Wii U eShop's backend has found mounting evidence that a HD re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is in the works.

It all started when an icon for Twilight Princess was found in the system, leading some to suspect an emulated port could be on the way. Now, however, Nintendo's eShop servers have started showing a listing for Twilight Princess HD, suggesting a full remastering could be on the cards.

First release back in 2006, Twilight Princess appeared as both one of the last games on GameCube and one of the launch titles for the Wii. It was notably darker than the game that came before it, The Wind Waker, which has already received the HD treatment on Wii U.
