Astronomers Say ‘Bizarre’ Star May Harbor Alien ‘Megastructures’
After more than four years of observations with the Kepler Space Telescope, astronomers reveal that a bizarre star called KIC 8462852 has unexplained objects orbiting around it.
The star, located 1480 light-years from Earth, was flagged in 20111 by citizen scientists recruited by the Kepler’s Planet Hunters program. The “interesting” and “bizarre” star was emitting light patterns stranger than any of the other 150,000 stars Kepler was watching.
“We’d never seen anything like this star,” Tabetha Boyajian, a postdoc at Yale and overseer of Planet Hunters, told The Atlantic. “It was really weird. We thought it might be bad data or movement on the spacecraft, but everything checked out.”
Die Hard 6: Wiseman May Direct Young John McClane
Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman may return to direct the sixth installment of the Bruce Willis-centric action series.
According to TheWrap, Wiseman is currently in negotiations with 20th Century Fox direct the film, which is he'll also produce alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who's already invested in the project.
Die Hard 6 will reportedly serve as a "quasi-prequel" to the popular film franchise, and will be set in 1979 New York City centered around a young John McClane. While series star Bruce Willis doesn't yet have a deal locked down with the studio, the actor is expected to return for present day sequences.

Tarantino Clarifies His Perceived Selma Diss
Quentin Tarantino caused quite a stir earlier this week with his controversial remarks regarding Ava DuVernay's Oscar-nominated film Selma. The director has since responded to the backlash, noting that he's never seen the movie.
In a Facebook message sent to Indiewire's Anne Thompson, Tarantino clarified what me meant during his New York Times interview with Bret Easton Ellis when he was asked about the widely perceived Oscar snub for DuVernay's direction of Selma. Tarantino is quoted in the Times as saying, "She did a really good job on Selma but Selma deserved an Emmy.’’
New Chipmunks Movie to Open Against Star Wars
In what will surely be a David and Goliath story for the ages, Fox is dropping its fourth Chipmunks installment into theatres the same day as Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
THR reports that Fox has moved up the film's release from December 23 to December 18 to take advantage of school holidays, the same day as The Most Anticipated Movie Of All Time* drops.
If this sounds crazy, it's not. With its PG rating Alvin and the Chipmunks skews younger than The Force Awakens (rated PG13) and if past installments are anything to go by, it will probably make a bunch of money during the busy holiday period.
Prometheus 2 Eyes Rogue Nation’s Ferguson
Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) is reportedly being eyed for the upcoming Prometheus sequel, Alien: Paradise Lost.
While concrete talks between the two parties have yet to occur, Deadline reports Ferguson is "in the mix" for a major role in the film.
Creed Director Ryan Coogler May Direct Black Panther
Ryan Cooger, director of the hit indie film Fruitvale Station, is reportedly being eyed by Marvel to helm its upcoming Black Panther movie.
Sources have told Heroic Hollywood that Coogler is being considered by the studio, as he currently finishes up post-production work on his sports drama Creed ahead of its November 25 release.
Marvel was originally set to have Ava DuVernay direct Black Panther; however, the Selma director decided to pass over creative differences. Additionally, Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray was rumored to be in running, but that no longer appears to be a possibility, as he just signed on to direct Fast and Furious 8.

Princess Leia Makes Cool Connection to Phantom Menace
In today’s Star Wars: Shattered Empire #3 from Marvel Comics, Princess Leia used her connection to the Force to sense a pretty cool -- or should we say, “cold” -- connection to The Phantom Menace.
Warning: beware of spoilers for Star Wars: Shattered Empire #3!
Currently in the story of Shattered Empire, which takes place shortly after Return of the Jedi, protagonist Shara Bey is accompanying Princess Leia on a mission to Naboo. Without notice, the Imperials attack with weather-affecting satellites that create massive hurricanes all over the planet, which is part of Emperor Palpatine's Operation: Cinder, a plan his operatives were instructed to carry out after his death. Not as fast as the Death Star, but that’s one way to destroy a planet.
