Bringing Balance to New & Old Star Wars Characters

With Marvel's Star Wars: Shattered Empire #1 hitting today -- the first issue of a four-part mini-series showing what happens after the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi -- we talked to writer Greg Rucka about his new addition to Star Wars lore. While the comic does feature some of the original cast like Han and Chewie, the main character is expert A-Wing pilot Shara Bey, whose primary concern is finding her husband, Rebel solider Kes, and deciding what to do now that the war is done. Or at least they think the war is done, but clearly that's not the case.

Just Cause Movie Will Take Cues from Just Cause 3

A Just Cause movie is in development, and according to its producer Adrian Askarieh, it will be inspired specifically by the events of Just Cause 3.

Speaking to IGN (and you can see the interview up above), Askarieh said: "Just Cause 3 has a terrific story. It has Rico going back to Medici, the place of his birth and then subsequent displacement, and the murder of his family. And he goes back there to do what he does best which is to discombobulate regimes.

"That to me is a cool story and the whole concept of a guy who is sent in to discombobulate from within and to create chaos from within. And in terms of action, I think Just Cause has just as much right to be called an action movie as The Fast and Furious. They're both outlandish. You have a car going through 400 skyscrapers – well not 400, two. That's kind of a Just Cause action.

Hitman Producer Dreams of a Square Enix Movie Universe

Hitman: Agent 47 producer Adrian Askarieh has spoken to IGN about his dream of a Square Enix shared universe on film.

When asked if his future adaptation of the Just Cause series could possibly tie in with the recently-released Hitman: Agent 47, Askarieh said, "It could, possibly. It all depends on how successful Hitman is. If Hitman is successful enough, and we can plug other characters into that universe, great. But if – god forbid – it's not, Just Cause will be separate."

He went on to say: "If everything was entirely up to me, it would be Just Cause, Hitman, and Lara Croft in the same universe, and Deus Ex would be the future of that universe and Thief would be the past. Unfortunately, I don't have Lara Croft, and Hitman needs to be a big hit for that to happen. But I think Just Cause can be in the Hitman Universe or it can be on its own."
