George R. R. Martin to Cameo on Z Nation
Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin will appear in a cameo during the second season of Z Nation - as a zombified version of himself.
Entertainment Weekly reveals that in the show, Martin has been imprisoned and chained to a desk by a character called the Collector - a connoisseur of celebrity zombies.
EW's images display an undead Martin at a book signing. In the cameo, Zombie GRRM's book is named "A Promise of Spring" - similar to "A Dream of Spring," the expected title of his eventual seventh novel.
Super Mario Maker Was Almost a Mario Paint Game
Nintendo didn't initially plan to create Super Mario Maker, because the project started as a new Mario Paint game for Wii U.
Speaking with Time, Nintendo game designer Takashi Tezuka — who was the lead director on Super Mario World — talked about Super Mario Maker's origins. "Originally we wanted to make a Mario Paint game, using the Wii U GamePad,” he said.
“And that was where the idea originally started, but at the same time, we wanted to take the Super Mario Bros. toolset that we use to create the levels, and we wanted to move that toolset over to the Wii U GamePad to make it easier to create the levels with the touchscreen.”

Twitch Plays Dark Souls Defeats Ornstein and Smough
With the help of a system that pauses the game until Twitch users can vote on the next command, Twitch Plays Dark Souls has managed to defeat the iconic Anor Londo-based duo, Ornstein & Smough.
Equipped with the Zweihander, Eagle Shield, Ring of Favor & Protection, and the Wolf Ring, the crowd-players took down Ornstein first before moving on to Smough. Near the very end of the battle, the player manages to get the last few hits in on Smough with no Estus Flasks left and very low health.
You can see an edited version of the fight, which removes the pauses during voting, below.
Twitch Plays Dark Souls began about a month ago, a crowd-played event that challenged Twitch viewers to cooperatively play Dark Souls using real-time chat commands.
Marvel’s Star Wars Comics Are Impressive, Most Impressive
There’s a scene in Jason Aaron and John Cassaday’s Star Wars comic series where Luke Skywalker crosses paths with Darth Vader for the first time after he blew up the Death Star. Luke is understandably pissed and lets Vader know it: “You killed my father,” he tells him, gripping his ignited lightsaber.
Now, this scene is problematic for multiple reasons -- the second issue feels far too soon for Luke to meet Vader, not to mention having Luke meet Vader between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back saps the intense, emotional energy from their epic Cloud City duel.
But once I read the next line from Vader -- “I’ve killed very many fathers. You’ll have to be more specific.” -- I threw my head back cackling in delight at the surprising yet all-too-perfect response. Not unlike Emperor Palpatine might do. It was then that I knew the license to make Star Wars comics was in good hands at Marvel.
