Island of Doctor Moreau TV Series in Works at CBS

CBS will be making a series based on The Island of Doctor Moreau, the classic 1896 sci-fi novel by H.G. Wells.

Variety reports that the show will be called simply Moreau, and will be written by Sleepy Hollow co-creator Phillip Iscove, who will also executive produce along with Frank Marshall and Robert Zotnowski.

The Island of Doctor Moreau focuses on the titular mad doctor who creates hybrid beings of humans and animals. The CBS show will change things up by casting the doctor as a woman, following the story of Dr. Katherine Moreau in her privately funded island hospital, and the man who gets shipwrecked there.

Gal Gadot Turned Down a Role in Man of Steel

Gal Gadot will be playing the title role in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, but things could have been very different.

In an interview with Israeli site Xnet (with a translation by Batman-News), Gadot said that she had been offered a role in Man of Steel. "When I was a month pregnant with (my daughter) Alma, I got an offer to be the evil Superman character. If I wasn’t pregnant I’d take the job, and there’s no way they would take me now to be Wonder Woman."

It is believed that the role she turned down was that of Kryptonian villainess Faora, who was ultimately played by Antje Traue.

Supergirl: First Look at Red Tornado

A brand new image has been released of DC's Red Tornado from an upcoming episode of CBS’ Supergirl.

Behind all that makeup and costuming is Iddo Goldberg (Salem, Peaky Blinders), here playing "the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow (also Goldberg) for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City -- including the people Supergirl cares about most."

New Final Fantasy 15 Story Details Revealed

During an Active Time Report at TGS today, Square Enix revealed more details regarding Final Fantasy XV's story.

The Report centered around a pair of characters -- Noctis’ father King Regis, and the mysterious Luna. We learned that in order to protect the kingdom of Lucis, King Regis had to erect a magical, protective barrier around the entire nation. But in doing so, the strain of the magic ate away at his body. This weakened state leaves himself, Noctis, and his kingdom vulnerable to the Nifelheim empire, which is pressing forward onto Lucis.

The footage Square showed at Gamescom was a short, emotional look at the bond between King Regis and Noctis. We also learned that the Regalia, the car Noctis and company drive around throughout Episode Duscae and XV proper, was previously owned by his father Regis.

Tomb Raider Reboot Rumor: Bigelow Could Direct

Tomb Raider is getting a reboot on the big screen, and a new rumor has pegged some high-profile directors as possibly being up for the helming job on the newest adventures of Lara Croft.

According to The Tracking Board, word has it that the producers of the film are looking at three potential directors: Kathryn Bigelow, Catherine Hardwicke and Mimi Leder.

This trio of female directors certainly have the chops to make Tomb Raider relevant again in cinemas. Bigelow won the Oscar for The Hurt Locker, while also being behind films such as Zero Dark Thirty, Strange Days, Near Dark, and of course Point Break. Mimi Leder has been working mostly in TV these days (The Leftovers, Shameless) but made films like Deep Impact and The Peacemaker in the late 1990s. And of course Hardwicke’s biggest picture was the first Twilight film.

GDT: Pac Rim Doesn’t Fit in the Godzilla/Kong Universe

I spoke to director Guillermo del Toro today about his upcoming gothic horror film Crimson Peak (more on that soon!), but we also talked about the status of his Pacific Rim sequel during our chat. Despite recent reports that Pacific Rim 2 (also known as Pacific Rim: Maelstrom) has been delayed and possibly shelved, GDT says that the film is still moving ahead.

“It's not cancelled,” he told me of the giant mecha versus monsters film. “I'm gonna do a little movie in between, if
