'Smart' cars from the manufacturers BMW, Mercedes, and Chrysler could all be vulnerable to Wi-Fi based attacks.

Last month, security researcher Samy Kamkar showed that General Motors' OnStar computer system could be hacked, allowing attackers to remotely track, unlock, and start cars that were running it. Now, Kamkar has altered his hacking tool OwnStar to target BMW's Remote, Mercedes-Benz's mbrace, Chrysler's Uconnect, and Viper's Smartstart services.

According to Wired, Kamkar says "if you're using any of these four apps, I can automatically get all of your log-in information and then indefinitely authenticate as you."
