Amazing Spider-Man Director ‘Really Psyched’ for Reboot
Marc Webb, the director of the two most recent Spider-Man films starring Andrew Garfield, has shared a few of his thoughts on the upcoming Marvel reboot.
"I'm really psyched that Spider-Man is going back to the Marvel universe, I'm really excited to see that incarnation," he told MTV (via Indiewire) at Comic-Con. "And Jon Watts is directing it, I knew him from the old music video days and he'd done some really fantastic music videos so it's really exciting."
That said, the director is still a bit heartbroken over the short-lived life of his take on the character. "It’s sad a little bit to surrender that in a way," Webb added.

First Look at Apocalypse in the Next X-Men Movie
A poster being given out at SDCC 2015 has given us our first-look at the appearance on En Sabah Nur (aka Apocalypse) in the upcoming movie X-Men: Apocalypse.
While it's not a photograph, it does give us a good idea of how Oscar Isaac will look in the titular role.
The print also incorporates hieroglyphics and Apocalypse's birth name – En Sabah Nur, which roughly translates as 'The First One' – to reflect his Egyptian heritage. The imagery also implies that the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters will come under attack in the film.
Minority Report TV Series to Focus on Precogs
The cast and creators of FOX's new TV adaptation/continuation of Steven Spielberg's Minority Report appeared at San Diego Comic-Con today to screen 20 minutes of the pilot episode and introduce the show - which premieres September 21st - to the world of genre TV lovers.
Godzilla writer and Minority Report executive producer Max Borenstein spoke about his idea for continuing the story that began back in the 2002 Tom Cruise/Spielberg film by focusing in the other side of the tale - the Precogs who were responsible for predicting future murders.
"I loved the film so much," Borenstein told the crowd on hand in Ballroom 20, "and was thinking about how one might evolve it and spin it off. In the movie there's a system in place called PreCrime and at the end of the movie that infratstrture collapses. But then the Precogs got shuffled off to witness protection to live in secret and that's the last shot of the movie. And I was like 'Wait, that's a show. I want to know what happens next as they try to become real people again.'"
Are Horror Games Having a Renaissance?
Amanda Ripley is in a vent. The air feels heavy in here; thick. Her hands, which are actually your hands, leave sweaty palm-prints on the metal as you scramble toward the light. It’s hopeless, of course, the thud of heavy feet preludes the inevitable, and you claw out at air before the xenomorph is in there, right there, hungry for you.
You die.
Alien Isolation is, arguably, the poster-child for what feels like a “horror renaissance.” It’s a snapshot of tone - claustrophobic, menacing - and mechanics - unforgiving, sophisticated - that’s at the bleeding edge of all that’s cool in horror game-making today.
Ten years ago, horror looked very different. In the mainstream space, good looking and well crafted games like Resident Evil 4 and F.E.A.R were spinning big bucks. The “golden age” of Japanese-dominated survival horror had been brought to its knees by a new-found focus on slick graphics, explosive set-pieces and layers of upgrading systems. In other words, horror games were looking more like action games, and action games made money.
Cast & Producers Discuss The Strain: Season 2
Warning: Potential spoilers for The Strain: Season 2 follow...
Upon visiting the set of The Strain in Toronto, it’s clear that Season 2 is multiplying the action, horror, and alcohol content of the first season – big time – proving that fans of the book series and show have a lot of blood-sucking goodness to look forward to this summer.
IGN got the chance to tour The Strain’s set with producer J. Miles Dale, and catch up with co-creator and executive producer Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim), showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost), and several of the series’ stars, where we got a taste of what to expect from the second season of the hit series, which premieres this Sunday on FX.
Batman Joins Forces With the Ninja Turtles
The idea of Batman teaming up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is no longer the stuff of fan fiction and action figure roleplaying. That crossover is becoming a reality this year as DC Comics and IDW Publishing join forces for a comic called Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
As revealed at IDW's SDCC panel yesterday, the mini-series will see Krang transport the Turtles and Shredder to Gotham City in hopes of ridding himself of his enemies for good. As you'd expect, it's not long before the Turtles meet up with Batman and battle a legion of Gotham villains in their quest to return home. With luck, they'll even convince Bats to scarf some pizza and dance to "Ninja Rap."
Reynold’s Deadpool Is a Bit Like Muhammad Ali
Speaking to IGN at Comic-Con 2015, British actor Ed Skrein told us a bit more about the new Deadpool movie, his character Ajax, and why Ryan Reynold's Deadpool is a bit like Muhammad Ali.
You can watch the full interview with Skrein in the video above.
"The film runs in kind of two halves, like a soccer game," Skrein told us. "The first-half is me attacking; the second-half is more him attacking in some ways. But it's not that simple.
"It's a great relationship Ajax and Deadpool have – it's a wonderful dynamic. A lot of the time we talked in terms of the great boxers: Muhammad Ali and George Foreman or Muhammad Ali versus Joe Frazier. Muhammad Ali is dancing around, whispering in his ear, trying to get to him, get under his skin, which is what Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and Ryan do so brilliantly. Ajax is that juggernaut, just like Joe Frazier, just focussed on this job and hunting him down and pounding away, like a bulldozer."
Vikings Creator Hints at Time Jump for Season 4
Vikings creator Michael Hirst didn't give out too many details about the show's upcoming fourth season, and he didn't really need to in order to please the rapid Comic-Con crowd that sounded Viking horns throughout the panel. He did hint that the series would jump ahead in time, and though he wasn't specific about how big a jump it would be, he stated the he sees the show as being about Ragnar and his sons, not just Ragnar. Ideally, future seasons would follow future generations of Ragnar's line to Iceland, Italy, with the series ending with the Viking's finding North America.
Hirst also teased that Ragnar would have a new woman in his life, a person that the audience would find "surprising." He was extremely coy about what this meant but he did mention consulting a historical expert to confirm whether this connection was possible. He also stated that a "god" would be seen in Season 4, though he wouldn't say what form it would take.
