If there's been a recurring theme in pop culture lately, it's that people really, really like zombies. Maybe seeing fictional heroes run in terror from undead hordes makes the real world seem a little less frightening. Whatever the case, zombies are big business, whether that business is film, television or comic books.
With zombie mania at a fever pitch, we're taking a look at the biggest zombie-themed franchises in the pop culture spotlight right now. We're not counting video game franchises, if only because that justifies its own list. These are the franchises to turn to right now if you crave an undead fix.

Palutena Amiibo Is Amazon Exclusive
The Palutena amiibo is an Amazon exclusive in the United States.
Amazon announced that the Palutena figurine is exclusive to the web-based retail store on Twitter. Though Amazon isn't letting people order the amiibo quite yet, the company says customers can learn more details by clicking "Email Me" on the product page.
Palutena is part of Wave 5 of the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U amiibo figurines, joined by her Kid Icarus: Uprising pal Dark Pitt. Like Palutena, Dark Pitt is also a retailer exclusive, only available for purchase at Best Buy in stores.

Star Trek Beyond Charity Video Confirms Idris Elba Casting
A new Star Trek Beyond charity video confirms recent rumors about Idris Elba's casting in director Justin Lin's upcoming film. The video in question is for Star Trek: To Boldly Go, a new campaign supporting the Star Trek Beyond cast's personal selection of nine global causes, each of will receive equal portions of the funds raised when fans enter to win a walk-on role in the movie.
Hi-Rez Studios Announces Smite World Championship by Xbox One
The Smite World Championship presented by Xbox One will take place January 7-10, 2016 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, developer Hi-Rez Studios announced today.
The 2016 Smite World Championship will be made up of two tournaments: the Smite PC World Championship and the Smite Xbox One Invitational. North America, Europe, Brazil, Latin America, China, Australia, and New Zealand will all be represented by teams in the tournaments.
The prize pool for the Smite PC World Championship will be capped at $1 million USD in order to "distribute winnings to a greater share of Smite players at events throughout the season," according to Hi-Rez Studios. $2 million USD in crowd-sourced prizes will also be awarded throughout Smite's second season, which is currently underway on PC and will conclude with the 2016 SWC. Meanwhile, the Smite Xbox One Invitational will feature four teams and a $150,000 USD prize pool.
Tomb Raider Is Insanely Cheap on Xbox One This Week
This week's Xbox Live Deals With Gold have been revealed, which feature a number of sizable discounts that are sure to please fans of Square Enix.
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition has received a 67 percent discount, making its new price just $9.90. Other Xbox One sales include 60 percent off Murdered: Soul Suspect, as well as RBI Baseball 15, which is now available for half price.
On Xbox 360, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Spec Ops: The Line, and Tomb Raider: Legend, Underworld, and Anniversary are all 75 percent off. Konami Is Not Deleting PT From Your PS4
Fresh rumors are spreading about the playable teaser for Konami's recently cancelled Silent Hills, claiming the company is beginning to remove already downloaded copies of the demo from PlayStation 4 consoles worldwide.
A Konami spokesperson told VG247 that these reports are incorrect, and that there is no system in place that would allow either Konami or Sony to remove content from people's consoles in this way.
We've reached out to Konami and will update with any new info. In the meantime, we also booted up a PS4 in the office to see for ourselves – PT is still there.
