True Detective: Are You Going to Stick With Season 2?
A few weeks back True Detective's second season started up and was instantly met with resistance by some. Did it have a lot to prove? Most definitely, given how well-received Season 1 was and the fact that neither the original cast or director were returning, though creator Nic Pizzolatto is still guiding the series.
Look, it's almost straight up impossible to equal the first season, let alone top it. And the Season 2 premiere, featuring all new characters and a new story (revolving around a fictional city based on real-life Vernon, Ca) didn't contain an actual case. It was more about introducing us to the sullen ensemble cast and that may not have been the best way to suck doubters into a new season. Also, the fact that the victim -- now that a murder case is underway, as of the second episode -- was a crooked, perverted, non-sympathetic character doesn't help matters either.
Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Announced
Microsoft has announced Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition, the next version of Mojang’s world-building game.
Windows 10 Edition will not replace the existing PC version. Instead, it will be treated as an entirely separate platform to “take advantage of the advanced technology and gaming platform provided by Windows 10.”
Just as the original PC version did, Windows 10 Edition will first release in beta form. You can get your hands on the game on July 29.

Unsurprisingly, Minecraft: Story Mode will follow the standard Telltale format: one narrative-driven story, released across five episodes. Players will control Jesse (not Steve), the protagonist of the story, on a quest to save the world.
Here’s the full story description from Mojang:
"Players will control protagonist Jesse throughout the season, as portrayed by actor Patton Oswalt. Jesse and his group of friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone; four adventurers who slayed an Ender Dragon. The Order are the very best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect. While at EnderCon, Jesse and his friends discover that something is wrong... something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and they must set out on a journey to find The Order of the Stone if they are to save their world from oblivion."
Penny Dreadful: Vanessa to Face Off Against…Vanessa?
*Some spoilers for Penny Dreadful's second season*
There's only one more episode to go in Penny Dreadful's Season 2, and it looks like it's going to feature a hell of a showdown. I spoke to creator/writer John Logan (Skyfall) about what fans can expect from the season finale, "And They Were Enemies," along with his inspiration for this season's use of extremely creepy dolls.
All season long, the devious "Nightcomer" Evelyn Poole (Helen McCrory) has been tormenting Vanessa and her extended family of misfits and monsters so that her master, Lucifer, might take a new bride and bring about the End of Days. And in last Sunday's episode, one of Team Dreadful's beloved members fell. And we left things at the height of tension as the rest of our heroes found themselves trapped within Evelyn's dark lair.

Selma Director Passes on Marvel’s Black Panther
Contrary to prior reports, Ava DuVernay will not direct Marvel's Black Panther movie.
While the Selma director did in fact meet with Marvel, she ultimately passed on the project over creative differences.
"I'm not signing on to direct Black Panther," DuVernay told Essence. "I think I’ll just say we had different ideas about what the story would be. Marvel has a certain way of doing things and I think they’re fantastic and a lot of people love what they do. I loved that they reached out to me.
Zero Escape Volume 3 Revealed
In the first half of 2016, Zero Escape Volume 3 will make it's way 3DS and PlayStation Vita for North America.
Zero Escape Volume 3 is a direct sequel to 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors and Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. Unlike its predecessors, the North American version of Zero Escape Volume 3 is in production alongside the Japanese version. The release window for the Japanese version of Zero Escape Volume 3 was not announced.
"We're working very closely with our Japanese development team to crank this out together and on time," Aksys Games' Danny Miscevich said.
Back in February 2014, Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi said on Twitter that, due to poor sales in Japan, Zero Escape 3 was put on hold. Fans took to social media and created Operation Bluebird in support of Zero Escape 3.
