Many Key Destiny Red Bull Codes Have Been Compromised Thanks to Scammers

Scammers have figured out how to fake the Destiny promotional codes in Red Bull, potentially taking them away from legitimate buyers.

Kotaku reports that it didn't take long for the Internet to crack their code of particular numbers and letters in a certain pattern, unlocking the content. However, these codes are likely printed on existing Red Bull cans being used for the promotion, so exploiting the system this way may well be taking the code away from someone else.

Users have already complained of getting their codes legitimately and then seeing errors, indicating that someone else may have already cheated their way into it. The promotional codes are supposed to unlock a bonus XP consumable and a bonus quest, in preparation for the release of The Taken King expansion.

Portal Stories: Mel is a Free Prologue Mod to Portal 2

Prism Studios' Portal Stories: Mel is a mod that fills players in on the events that transpired between Portal and Portal 2.

Rather than the voiceless protagonist Chell from Valve's original Portal games, Portal Stories focuses on Mel, a woman who took part in a faulty science experiment and mistakenly fell asleep for a few years. After waking up, she has to piece together what happened in the Aperture Science laboratories while armed with the series' iconic Portal Device.

Containing 22 levels, custom music, unique assets, voices, and an estimated 6-10 hours of gameplay, Portal Stories: Mel is a community-made mod available free on Steam. Those who wish to download it should note that, in order for Portal Stories to work, they must own a copy of Portal 2 on PC. However, Portal 2 does not have to be installed in order for people to play Portal Stories.

Warren Ellis to Write James Bond Comic

Acclaimed comics scribe Warren Ellis has been tapped by Dynamite Entertainment to write their new James Bond 007 ongoing series, due to hit shelves in November. Paired with artist Jason Marsters, Ellis is launching the first official comic series based on Ian Flemming's seminal spy series in over two decades.

"Ian Fleming's James Bond is an icon, and it's a delight to tell visual narratives with the original, brutal, damaged Bond of the books," Ellis said in a statement (via Newsarama).

Could Life Be Hiding on Comet 67P?

A couple of scientists from the University of Cardiff are pushing the view that alien life could be hiding in the icy nether-regions of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.

Professor Chandra Wickramasinghe and his colleague Dr. Max Wallis believe the black crust of 67P is most likely explained by the presence of living microorganisms dwelling just beneath the comet's surface.

However, most other scientists think Wickramasinghe and Wallis are full of their own type of organic matter, one produced from the posterior regions of a male Bos Taurus.

According to a report from io9, Wickramasinghe's claim that evidence pointing to the comet containing living organisms is unfounded. Phil Plait, author of the Bad Astronomy blog, tweeted the "outrageous claim" of life on comet 67P isn't helped at all by "sloppy methods and fringe science."

The Next Doom Update is Coming Soon

Id isn't holding back about the new Doom. According to Garrett Young, General Manager at id Software, the "next big info update" on Doom will be at QuakeCon later this month.

Young revealed this on Twitter in response to a fan asking about the possibility of new enemies in the upcoming game.

QuakeCon is set for July 23-26, 2015 in Dallas. The latest in the Doom series was originally announced at QuakeCon years ago before a teaser trailer finally debuted at E3 2014, and then a longer one at QuakeCon a month after that.

At this year's E3, Doom gameplay footage was shown off for the first time during Bethesda's pre-show, where viewers also learned of its modding tools and level editor.
