Winter Soldier Joins Marvel Heroes 2015
Gazillion revealed today that Marvel Comics assassin Winter Soldier is now available in Marvel Heroes.
Winter Soldier is a master of close-quarters combat, marksmanship, and high-powered explosives. In addition to this trademark cybernetic arm, he's also masterful at espionage, capable of sneaking past enemies unseen.
David Hayter, best known as the voice of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series, voices Winter Soldier in Marvel Heroes 2015; according to Gazillion, players can expect "dry banter" between Winter Soldier and his fellow heroes.
The Winter Soldier Hero Pack costs $18 USD / £13 / €14 and in addition to Winter Soldier also includes two costumes (the default Longest Winter costume and the additional Winter Solder movie costume), extra Hero-specific inventory, six fortune cards, and one retcon device.
Marvel Announces All-Female Avengers Comic
Marvel has announced a new ongoing Avengers comic that will focus on an all-female cast. The series, dubbed A-Force, features a cast of iconic heroines like She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Storm, Medusa, and numerous others. A-Force will also introduce at least one new female character - a cosmically powered heroine named Singularity.
The comic will be written by two female creators as well. G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel, X-Men) will team up with Marguerite Bennett (Angela: Agent of Asgard, Earth 2: World's End) to script the series. Jorge Molina (Avengers World, Wolverine and the X-Men) will provide pencils.
Bloodborne Has Shields
Sony's Japan Studio has confirmed to IGN that Bloodborne will, in fact, have shields. This comes after months of speculation from diehard fans of the series who've noticed that none of the gameplay shown so far has included that specific type of a defense mechanism.
Masaaki Yamagiwa, producer at Sony's Japan Studio, told IGN, "There are shields in the game. However if you're always standing back and guarding, you'll die very quickly. So you have to incorporate it into your strategy of how you play and fight."
He went on to elaborate, "We wanted these encounters and battles to be so intense that If you just stand and wait, you'll get overwhelmed and killed right away. We wanted to encourage players to not hide and wait, but instead be more aggressive and pro-active in battle."
Making Bloodborne: Part 1 – Souls Evolved
As part of our month-long coverage of Bloodborne for IGN FIrst, we're proud to present to you Making Bloodborne: Part 1 - Souls Evolved.
A highlight of our trip to Tokyo was being able to visit the offices of both From Software, as well as Sony Japan Studio. Through hours of interviews, and some amazing footage from around the offices and Tokyo itself, we were able to put together an intriguing look at the developers took the basic framework of the Souls series, and built upon it on the PlayStation 4 for Bloodborne.
This piece contains some never-before-seen in-game footage, incredible pieces of concept art, and snippets of the game's powerful soundtrack. Don't miss it. And if you haven't read it yet, be sure to check out my extensive hands-on impressions of the game.
Super Stardust Ultra Release Date Announced
Housemarque's newest shoot 'em-up, Super Stardust Ultra, will be released on PS4 February 10 in the US, and February 11 in Europe for $13/€13.
As revealed on the PS Blog, Ultra will feature five new planets and nine different game modes, some of which are brand new.
One example of a new mode is Blockade, which has you continually dropping mines out of the back of your Star Fighter -- mines that can not only destroy enemies, but will damage you too if you fly into them.
Another new addition is interactive streaming, which lets players broadcast the game, and allows viewers to dictate what happens next.
Dying Light Will Soon Have Modding Tools
Developer Techland is inviting players to help create modding tools for Dying Light.
This news comes after a recent patch which appeared to restrict the ability to mod the game.
"As a sandbox game, Dying Light is a perfect material for modding. This is why we are currently working on free and extensive modding tools for the game. And we want players to tell what they would like to see."
"We’re inviting all Dying Light players to visit our official discussion board and share their mod ideas - no matter how crazy - with us here."
"After the modding tools are released, we plan to actively support the coolest mods created by players."

Monolith Soft's upcoming Wii U exclusive will also offer players an 'indirect' online experience with up to 32 people, allowing Xenoblade Chronicles X owners to trade items and exchange information with other players over the internet.
The eShop listing in question also confirmed that the game will feature USB keyboard support, making it one of the first Wii U titles to do so since Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate.
Buy New 3DS and Majora’s Mask, Get Free Skull Kid Statue
Nintendo are offering a free Skull Kid statue with the purchase of a new Nintendo 3DS Edition bundle and Majora's Mask 3D.
The promotion - applicable to the purchase of any New 3DS edition and game while stocks last - was originally restricted to bundles in the States, but it's now been rolled out further in the UK, too.
If you've already purchased your 3DS Ambassador Edition Bundle before this promotion was announced, don't panic: you'll still be eligible if you pick up The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D. As long as you register your game with Club Nintendo before February 28, you'll qualify - even if you've pre-ordered from another retailer.
