Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Multiplayer Free This Weekend on Steam
From now until February 22 at 1pm PT, Steam users can play Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's multiplayer free of charge.
The free trial features a variety of game modes on all thirteen base multiplayer maps, according to the Call of Duty website. Progress earned throughout the weekend will transfer to the full game, should you choose to purchase it. Furthermore, both the standard and Digital Pro editions of the game are currently discounted.
PC players can also look forward to Advanced Warfare's Havoc DLC, which comes to the platform on February 26.
Sleepy Hollow Actress Joins Ash vs. Evil Dead
Jill Marie Jones has joined the cast of the upcoming Starz series Ash vs. Evil Dead.
Jones, who has a recurring role on Sleepy Hollow and whose credits include American Horror Story and Girlfriends, will play disgraced Michigan State Trooper Amanda Fisher, who attempts to find Ash (Bruce Campbell) and prove his responsibility for the murder of her partner.

The cast now includes Jones, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, and Campbell, reprising his role from the Evil Dead trilogy. Original Evil Dead director Sam Raimi is executive producing the series, as well as co-writing and directing the first episode.

Unreal Dev Grants Offered By Epic Games
Epic Games introduced a new development fund worth $5 million dollars in grants for developers working in Unreal Engine 4.
According to Epic, the grants come with “no strings attached.”
Developers retain ownership of their IP, have the freedom to publish (or not), have no obligations to Epic, and can even run a crowdsourcing campaign alongside the grants if they need extra funding.
Developers working in Unreal Engine 4 are eligible for grants ranging from $5,000 to $50k, and that isn’t limited to games; animations, mods, educational projects, and more also apply.
“Anything that will make us say ‘Whoa,’” says Epic.

FOX Orders Pilot for DC Comics’ Lucifer
FOX has ordered a pilot for the TV adaptation of DC's Lucifer, adding to the comic company's expanding list of television adaptations.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the potential series will focus on Lucifer, "who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell and resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals."
Last fall, FOX gave a "put pilot" commitment to Lucifer, where the network would have to pay penalties should they not move forward with it beyond the script stage. Besides officially ordering the pilot, FOX and Warner Bros. Television have also attached more talent to the project.
Mimoco Releases New Star Wars-Themed MimoPowerTubes
Mimoco, the makers of Mimobot character flash drives, has announced four new designs in its line of Star Wars-themed portable battery chargers.
The all new Star Wars x MimoPowerTubes feature a 2600mAh portable battery disguised as R2-D2, Yoda, Boba Fett, and Darth Vader's Lightsaber. These styles join the original line-up released back in December consisting of C-3PO, Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber.

YouTube to Introduce Ad-Free Video Subscription Service
YouTube is reportedly working on a subscription model that would remove ads from videos for paying customers.
CNBC reports the service is set to launch in the next few months, as the team is still working on the finer details. The subscription model is meant to boost revenue and help content creators on YouTube while also providing customers with options.
This service will likely be similar to the pilot test YouTube launched back in 2013, during which people could pay $1 a month for ad-free videos. At this time, no details surrounding price or the intricacies of the service are known.
In related YouTube news, Nintendo recently announced their plans for a program that would allow YouTube content creators a share of ad revenue profits for videos of their games.
Hostel Star Reportedly Joining Suicide Squad
Hostel star Jay Hernandez is reportedly joining the cast of the next big DC Comics movie adaptation, Suicide Squad.
According to TheWrap, "Hernandez’s role is being kept under wraps, but it’s possible that he could be playing an inmate on the same cell block as The Joker, though there are several other open roles at this time." Oscar winner Jared Leto will play Joker.
Hernandez's other film credits include Quarantine, World Trade Center, Takers, Torque, Friday Night Lights, and Carlito's Way: Rise to Power.
David Ayer will direct Suicide Squad, which also stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, and Cara Delevingne. Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis and Jesse Eisenberg are also in various stages of negotiations to join the cast. Filming begins in April.
