Xbox Games with Gold for February 2022 Revealed

Microsoft has announced that February 2022's Xbox Games with Gold are Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse, Aerial_Knight's Never Yield, Hydrophobia, and Band of Bugs.

As detailed by Xbox Wire, all of these Games with Gold will be available to those with Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and the first two - Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse and Hydrophobia - arrive on February 1.

Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse, which will be available from February 1-28, puts players in the shoes of American George Stobbart and "sassy French journalist Nico Collard" as they follow the trail of a stolen painting and a "murderous conspiracy" that has "roots older than the written word."

The Broken Sword series began in 1996 with Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars and the games are point-and-click adventures that have followed the stories of Stobbart and Collard for years now.

Aerial_Knight's Never Yield will be available from February 16 to March 15 and puts players in the shoes of Wally, a "mysterious character always in motion as you run, jump, slide, or dash to the soundtrack of Danime-sama." The game also boasts a "runtime of an action movie," meaning it's perfect for those looking to find a new game that won't take hundreds of hours or those who may want to find their next speedrunning challenge.

Hydrophobia, which will be part of Games with Gold from February 1-15, was, in 2010, setting out to deliver an unprecedented horror game with "next-gen water rendering and other advanced technology." It follows Kate, who must use her engineering skills to "fight back against terrorists who have taken control of her floating city."

In our Hydrophobia review, we said that it "relies on its impressive water simulation to hold up an otherwise standard action game. It's definitely worth playing, though, and using the environment to creatively put down your enemies is quite satisfying."

Band of Bugs, which will be available from February 16-28, was first released in 2007 and has you fighting against spiders, bugs, and "even your friends in Spider Hunter Mode." It is billed as a "fast playing, accessible game for fans of the tactics-strategy genre, that puts you into the game."

In our Band of Bugs review, we said, "Band of Bugs is a success in just about every category, except the most important one. The feature set, most notably the level editor, visuals, sounds, and wit all work and work well. Unfortunately for fans of turn-based strategy games, the gameplay won't hold up to the standards we're all used to."

As you wait for these games to arrive, be sure to redeem January 2022's Xbox Games with Gold before they leave the service, including NeuroVoider, Aground, and Space Invaders Infinity Gene.

Evil Dead: The Game Delayed to May 2022

Evil Dead: The Game has been delayed from its February release window to May 13, 2022.

Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games shared the news on Twitter, saying the delay was due in part to the fact that, "when [the team] set out to create a brand new game worthy of the Evil Dead franchise, we knew it had to be groovy as hell." To ensure they hit that goal, they felt the delay was needed "in order to deliver the best possible experience."

"This delay gives our team the time they need to get things just right, so your boomstick will be polished, fully loaded, and ready to blast Deadites on that Friday the 13th of May," Evil Dead: The Game's Twitter account wrote. "We thank you for your patience and understanding."

They followed up the Tweet by saying fans won't have to wait "too long" for more news on Evil Dead: The Game, and that pre-order information and a brand-new trailer will be revealed in February.

Evil Dead: The Game was announced at The Game Awards 2020 and features both co-op and PvP gameplay alongside the return of Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams.

During any given match, certain players will need to "seal the breach between worlds," while others will "take control of the powerful Kandarian Demon to hunt Ash and his friends while possessing Deadites, the environment, and even the survivors themselves."

Evil Dead: The Game will include a ton of fan service, including the iconic cabin in the woods as a map and Ash's signature chainsaw as a devastating weapon.

"I’m excited to be strapping on the chainsaw one more time,” said Campbell. “Boss Team and Saber Interactive are planning a huge immersive dealio, and I knew I had to come back. You’ll be able to step into my shoes and kick some Deadite ass!”

The Simpsons Steamed Hams Scene Turned Into Playable Adventure Game

While The Simpsons has had countless iconic moments during its legendary 33-year run, the Steamed Hams scene may just be one of its greatest. Now, a fan-made point-and-click adventure game by NeoDement called Steamed Hams: The Graphic Adventure will let players of all ages experience this story in a new way.

For those unaware, the Steamed Hams scene was from Season 7, Episode 21 - "22 Short Films About Springfield" - and is a short story about Principal Skinner and Superintendent Chalmers. Skinner has Chalmers over for dinner and, when he burns the meal, he chooses to tell ever-increasing lies to cover up his mistake. These lies include making Chalmers believe he said they were having "steamed hams" instead of "steamed clams" after he picked up a few burgers from Krusty Burger.

As reported by GamesRadar, Steamed Hams: The Graphic Adventure looks to honor that scene that has since become one of The Simpsons' most enduring memes and it plays much like a classic LucasArts adventure game like Monkey Island or Maniac Mansion.

You can try the game out for free right now at Game Jolt, and each line is pulled from the episode itself, The Simpsons: Hit and Run, or one other episode where a few new lines were needed. Furthermore, the sprites were brought in from The Simpsons Arcade Game and modified slightly. While there isn't too much freedom in the game, it accomplishes what it does very well and is a joy to play.

We ranked "22 Short Films About Springfield" as our sixth-favorite The Simpsons episode of all time, and Steamed Hams went a long way in making that so.

For more, check out the new Simpsons short that is basically Kingdom Hearts with Homer and another fan's creation of a working version of the Simpsons' TV.

Johnny Knoxville Remembers the Jackass Forever Stunt That Resulted In Brain Damage

Johnny Knoxville revealed that a stunt involving a bull in Jackass Forever went so wrong that he suffered brain damage because of it.

As reported by NME, Knoxville was a guest on The Howard Stern Show and talked about how a bull knocked him into the air and left him with not only a broken wrist and broken ribs, but also a concussion that resulted in a brain hemorrhage.

“Yeah, I got a brain hemorrhage from that," Knoxville said. "So my cognitive abilities were in steep decline after that hit. No one in my family is happy with the stunts. The bull hit was the worst hit I’ve ever taken from a bull, or maybe period. I remember taking some tests. The neurosurgeon said, ‘Do you have trouble paying attention right now?’ I said, ‘Yeah, why?’ He goes, ‘Because you scored a 17 on [your attention].’ That’s out of 100.

"I had to go under all these types of treatments, this transcranial magnetic stimulation, which they buzz your head with these magnets for about 30 minutes at a time for like, oh God, I would say 10 to 12 treatments over a series of two months and it’s supposed to help with depression and help with my cognitive skills. It was a tough one to come back from. I was trying to edit the movie at the time but I couldn’t sit still.”

Knoxville also shared that he suffered from depression following the stunt, and that was something that "hasn't happened before."

“I can’t take any more hits to the head,” he said. “My brain was just playing tricks on me. I got really depressed and over-focused on things… I did have to start medication for the first time in my life. It completely turned me around – that and doing therapy. It was a really hard recovery from this last injury but I’m great now. I feel like I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been.”

Knoxville and the Jackass crew are obviously no strangers to stunts gone wrong, as the team has racked up medical bills amounting to roughly $24 million. Knoxville, who has confirmed that Jackass Forever will be his last Jackass movie, topped the list with an estimated medical bill of $8.66 million as of September 2021.

Jackass Forever will arrive exclusively in theaters on February 4, 2022.

It Was Andrew Garfield’s Idea to Include This Meme in Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home is full of fun nods to Spidey's history, and we're now learning that one of the film's best references was improvised by Andrew Garfield.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home!

During a conversation the three Spider-Men had with Deadline's Pete Hammond, Tom Holland said figuring out all of the three Peters' interactions in the movie was a fun process.

“It was so collaborative, it was so playful.” Holland said. “From [Garfield] cracking Tobey’s back to [Garfield] coming up with the idea of pointing at us, it was all stuff that we came up with on the day. And it was just a lot of fun to be able to play with three guys in Spider-Man suits. It was a strange experience but one I won't ever forget."

Garfield has previously spoken to that improvisation. In an interview earlier this month on The Happy Sad Confused podcast, Garfield shared the story of how the Spider-Man pointing meme made its way into No Way Home.

"It kind of happened naturally on that scaffolding scene with Peter 1, Peter 2, Peter 3, like all that," Garfield said. "I remember having a lightning bolt and running into set and telling [director] Jon [Watts], 'I got it, I got it.'"

Garfield went on to say that the moment was when Jacob Batalon's Ned calls out to Peter, and all three respond. In the original version of the script, Garfield's Peter said something snarky like, "this isn't going to get old at all", until Garfield helped change it to something more playful and fun.

"So then we were thinking I could say, 'Aw, this is adorable. We're so adorable. God, we're cute.' Something like that," Garfield said. "But then I was like, no, this is the moment where we get to go, 'Do you mean me?' Jon was like, 'That's it. That's it. Done.' I was so happy that worked."

The Spider-Man pointing meme is from the Spider-Man animated series. In the original, Spider-Man runs into a villain impersonating Spider-Man, causing them to point at each other. When rumors about Garfield and Maguire's involvement in No Way Home were swirling, many fans were using this meme on social media, hoping it would make its way into the movie.

For more from the same interview, check out what Tom Holland is saying about his future as Spider-Man. And, learn the only three people Andrew Garfield didn't lie to about Spider-Man.
